It’s £130 for an iFollow season ticket. 70% of which goes to the club - so, £91.

Thanks Dan, so in all likelihood with Costa Del Stag, so about 1/4 of what the club would get for ST . Obviously not taking into account all the chips, beer, pies etc that would be consumed from the retiree

I think it’s one of those where people have polarised views, but even if it meant I can’t get on Tuesday night (you know living in manchester ) I’d ban the whole thing.

Get more money into the clubs and if you can’t get for whatever reason it’s unfortunate but bad luck.

After reading the thread I've more or less got the highlights:
  1. We're the best.
  2. Newport is a dump.
  3. A Crewe fan thinks the ones that got voted for as the top 2 are average, and Crewe are Elite(whatever that means).
  4. And the loyal fans abroad who get a season pass each contribute £91 to club coffers, oh or the really loyal fans who just use a VPN and don't bother to leave the house.
  5. Exeter fans being whinging little bitches about Plymouth being better, or something.

Think that covered everything.

Thought it was 80%?

Been great for me too seen every game this season. When I was in the UK I rarely went to away games and only 4 or 5 home games last season. So was stuck with radio commentary.

Obviously arguments for and against but if people can't get to games anyway it's money the club wouldn't have got.

The issue is with people who could get to games who would choose to watch it on iFollow instead.

I think that post #10 sums it up pretty well.

As a relative local, and having been to Exeter and Plymouth on numerous occasions, for me, they are both good away days with more positive than negative points. I'll sum it up like this...

Access to railway; Draw (ignoring SJP halt)
Pubs. Proximity to station; Exeter
Price; Plymouth
Away end; Plymouth
Atmosphere; Draw
Food and drink: Exeter

Having said that, if Torquay got back in to the EFL, they would win hands down.

Of the others i have been to, Orient is the best, and Scunny is by far the worst.

Which begs the question why did Newport RFC play in amber. Don’t know for sure but may well originate back to the 1500s when the Earl of Stafford / Duke of Buckingham owned Newport castle. Amber is shown on the family shield of the coat of arms. Incidentally the 3rd Duke of Buckingham was executed by Henry VIII for treason and as a sign of betrayal the chevron on the shield was inverted as we see it today. Normally it’s the other way up to represent a roof - the word chevron is of French origin for rafter.
I have some affiliation with inverted chevrons after working with Chevron, the American oil company for several years.

Well living nearly 1500 miles away i wouldn't be at many so the club are getting money that they otherwise wouldn't get

It’s not though Is it, one side of it is but the other three stands are good and I liked it myself.

One side is impressive, the other is an embarrassment of a stand. The two ends are bog standard meccano nowt special but certainly does the job.

Maybe he was also referring to the town itself?

Chris Eubank meant the ground.

The stand behind the goal has primordial dwarfism ffs.

The embarrassment stand (although you do get used to it) is the only serious downfall to the ground. Best thing about Mansfield is the train station is 5 minutes from the ground and so are plenty of good pub.

Luckily the ground still has character although I do admit most of that is due to the Ian Greaves stand and the proper floodlights.

It’s the oldest professional football stadium in the world Chris, that’s something you and your son should appreciate.

not really though is it.

You won’t get many better views of the game behind a goal than that in our league.

And look at all that advertising you get for free on your left hand side!

You reckon there’s nothing around the CG? It’s an easy stroll from the station, plenty of pubs to choose from (OK, some you wouldn’t want to poke your head in as an away fan), there’s a fantastic real ale pub 5 minutes walk from the station - the Glue Pot - and for all you gastronomes a KFC/Burger King and a good old chippy right on the roundabout by the ground. Access into and out of Swindon is piss easy and there’s plenty of parking.

Agree, we ended up in the Merlin? last time, slightly more than 5 minutes from the ground but OK once there. Good chippy as well.

The Merlin is a good football pub. It makes a change to have one that lets home and away fans mingle. Well, for most games.

I have never had a beer in Mansfield, for some reason the KO is early or the pubs don't allow away fans in when we visit. Ground is a lot better since the old outside toilets with a pitch view (for away supporters) has been replaced.

I miss those toilets, and the roofless ones at Saltergate. The steady steam rising up during an October fixture

Do they have them anywhere these days? Are they still at York for example.

Shrewsbury's were my favourite toilets, but of course The Gay Meadow is now long gone.

The Vetch Field had disgusting away toilets (Swansea for the young members of the site).

No idea Denzel. Used to visit the old Field Mill and Saltergate all the time and always made me smile. Having a slash and being p!ssed on at the same time.

Naturally the away terrace songs were very apt about those grounds at the time.

Gay Meadow was another away end I enjoyed, but London Road will always be my favourite. Best lower league away end going back then

the vetch was shocking

Remember there being some urinal which was basically a brick wall and a portaloo.

That after the welcome you received from the locals and the police made for a cracking away day.

bet the facilities at York’s ground are still one of the worst in the conference north!

Still. York as a whole is sorely missed as an away day.

The only ground I’ve been to where even the tea bar was behind protective fencing. Wonderful old ground though; the atmosphere was superb. You could make 200 sound like 2,000 on the away terrace.

I'll happily admit ours is one of the worst, if not the worst. There's only a couple pubs near the ground and the station is 20 to 30 minutes walk away depending on how fast you're walking.

Port Vale is my least favourite I've been too. Only a few pubs let away fans in for some reason, it's always dismal weather when I go and the ground lacks any atmosphere.
