Well an Eastleigh fan on our forum said Hill was on non-contract, hence the no compo...

I think he's a decent manager to be honest. No matter how bankrolled or un-bankrolled the Vision are, I don't subscribe to the idea that even a trampled frog could take a cash rich club up the pyramid. Clubs like Harrogate Town, who have been swimming in it for 5+ seasons now with zero return, show it's not that easy. Gateshead spend a lot but have only gotten close once in recent years. Gainsborough were flush for a while. Spennymoor Town have the decisively tinpot nickname of Spendymore and are also underperforming. Margate are faltering, Whitehawk's investments are obscene and they should be walking it.

Hill could be a mediocre manager and could be a good one, but he'll have a clue for sure. But still, in our first season up here Aspin handed most big, full-time clubs their arse at one point or another and if you struggle in doing that on three, four or more times the budget, then you probably won't fill his boots.

A couple more performances like the last two weeks and the job surely must go to Harvey full time.

Whoever that Eastleigh fan was he was wrong.
Hill was defo on a contract. He worked in the Conf South for best part of 2 seasons without one, but as soon as we were promoted, he was offered and signed a contract, to protect both parties.

Agree the guy currently in the role is doing very well.
TBH, i think its too far away for Hilly anyway, and i dont think he has too many northern contacts, so it would be harder for him up there.

I personally think he will replace Gary Hill at Woking. I understand he is trying to work a deal to leave the club and save face.

Edit: I See Paul Sturrock has just been sacked at Yeovil, that could now be where Hilly ends up.

When we played Halifax beginning of last season they looked a bloody good team. What happened to that winger they had ( name of Jackson ) rings a bell. I thought they would have been near top and pushed on this season -- What happened ?
Hopefully corner now turned. Proper Football club.

Can't remember where Jamie Jackson went back to (possibly BPA) considered far too big a luxury to Aspin as it meant we had to use two wingers at the same time.

Losing Roberts, Maynard and Pearson all for nothing took the biggest chunk of steel out of our side. With Williams leaving too (no great loss) we had a new defensive partnership of an overweight lincoln reject and an unfit Chester reject. Our steel midfield duo was replaced by Kingsley James (good player but never a defensive mid) and a kid albeit one with potential who had never started a conference game.

Aspin tried to install a passing style without the defensive grit normally associated with his teams to back it up. Quite simply since January Aspin had lost the plot and had a disastrous summer recruitment in which in addition to those that joined unfit, one never even kicked a ball for us, one jumped ship to Southport and the other decided part time football wasn't for him so fecked off to conference north Nuneaton.

Our new manager then got a job that had been advertised as needing experience at this level but had been sacked after 9 games at Oldham. His degree in sports psychology seemed to mean that he could tell the press his players were hard working and without fault despite getting dicked by 6 or 7 goals. He lasted 11 games i think.

All in all 2015 for the most part was a bloody shambles.

Yes Jackson, can't remember his first name, we've had a lot of players like him that have amounted to little more than makeweights in the squad. Usually signed in the last week of pre-season, they look great when they're on song and you wonder why no-one else has snapped up this world beater. Then you start to realise, they never seem to complete a game, they've always got an injury, and there only on song about twice a season. Think he's at Bradford Park Avenue now. As for what happened - football happened. Football is never less predictble than when you think you've finally cracked it. Aspin's team reached its apex in the cup tie with Bradford City, they gave a glorious performance in a bouncing Shay, I've never felt more proud of the reformed club. Someone on here, I think it was a Chester fan, remarked that "Aspin is now too big for Halifax". But football management is pure alchemy and witchcraft and in many ways about turning base metals into gold. A week later, against Woking at The Shay, they gave the most abject performance I'd ever seen (until this season!) and I've seen some shite performances from Halifax teams, believe me and it seemed to go downhill from there and even Aspin couldn't tell you why. :ds:

Our past two seasons have been failures also with bucket loads of cash being made available in each. Looks like we're finally going to make it count this time round.

Bang on though. Money doesn't always equal success.

Jamie Jackson is at Alfreton. He has had a bit of a hot and cold season. Not helped by the fact that it seems Nicky doesnt like him. This is proven by the fact that a Carthorse in Sam Smith is picked before who is only good enough for the Evo Stik First Divison. He hasnt helped his own cause by being very ineffective when he is in the starting XI. Without doubt his best performances have been as an Impact substitute. He single handedly won the us the fa cup game at Tamworth as he scored one, won a pwnalty anbd set the winner up. Almost saved face a few weeks ago against Boston two. But unfortunately he hasnt been consistent enough

This is pretty confusing to me as it turns out there are 2 Sam Smith's that are strikers in the Conference North! The old R&DFC, Telford etc one is the one that plays for Brackley. I want one of you to sign the other one so you can play Sam Smith and Sam Smith as a strike partnership and confuse everyone!

Yes this confuses a number of people. This Sam Smith hails from Handsworth Parramore of the NCEL where he scored 39 goals in 46 game. However Conference North is too much of a step up for him unfortunately

We used to have two Danny Rowes, which was brilliant when one got subbed on for the other.
Pretty sure we also had Dominic Rowe that season too.
