I have no idea from our point of view at this moment in time, we have no manager but this should be sorted this week, i'd then expect us to bring in an influx of players from abroad that we've never heard of and we'll only be able to judge once they're on the pitch. That said, from the budget been talked about i'd expect a top half finish, most want a play-off push but i'll stay conservative and say 8th

Well, with the signings we've made and the signings we plan to make I would think 1st, but it's never that easy and with a manager who has never taken on a similar job before who knows?

A certain other poster on here got very touchy and quite abusive a few weeks back when it was suggested we might have a good season. Doesn't matter now though, dickhead is on my ignore list. :)

With the stature and recent history of our club, we should really be aiming for a top half finish at the very least.

No you are wrong. With our stature we should be winning the league and both domestic cups.Anything less than that will be a failure.

I think we'll surprise a few people and finish comfortably mid-table.

Actually, I'm lying. 4th bottom will be another success to be fair. Whether we go down or not depends who we bring in, still early days.

Most likely outcome for Murphy is that we offer him an improved deal due to the speculation. He's consistently said he doesn't want to move.. he's just bought a house in the area and we would definitely turn down £4mil for him.

Mings on the other hand, I can see him going - I'd welcome it if it's anywhere near the £8-£10m figure that's being quoted.

As for where we'll finish. Confident of the playoffs again, imagine it may be a little more comfortable this time round, just a hunch.

I agree with you! I can't even imagine Murph leaving Ipswich, he spent his best seasons here so far!

And yeah I think of the playoffs too!

It's a pity Mings left the Boys but for that amount of money - thanks for everything and good luck for the future!

Anywhere in the top half.

Fancy Hull to do well this season.

If we get off to a good start I think we'll do quietly well. Outsiders understandably may think we're a mile off but if the club pulls together, as it is threatening to do, then with 2 or 3 more shrewd signings, I think we'll be top half.

Think it will be tougher for us. Although Dicko and Afobe all season is currently making me think we can go one better and hit the playoffs. Still think we need to strengthen CM and CB, and potentially LB as if Golborne's injury niggle is still going to be an issue.

Well, obviously Derby will sign whoever they want so that's 1st place taken care of - they might even break the 110-point barrier.

If Dyche stays the whole season and we make a few decent signings, I think Burnley will challenge for automatic again although we will fall short of our 93 points two years ago and will certainly lose more than 5 games this time.

I think Wolves, Reading and Hull could be good bets for automatic with Fulham the dark horses - but, hand on heart, I'll probably be disappointed with Burnley having to settle for the lottery of a platy-off place.

If Dyche leaves, however, we'll probably finish mid-table.

Do the fans still feel Symons is the right man to extract the best from what must still be a pretty expensive squad for this level? Fulham mate of mine says the fans have a fair few reservations despite the initial recovery from the Magath nightmare.

Most fans want Symons out. I don't but that may change dependent on how he gets on in the first few months of the season. Made a huge number of tactical errors throughout the season and looked out of depth at times.

Personally I think he needs this pre season to set out his own stall. He was fighting fires last season and now gets his own shot so who knows. Magath was absolute carnage so it was always going to take the season to recover. We have an incredibly young squad with most of the players coming up through the academy and an inexperienced manager made life difficult for us. At least we stayed up as Magath would have taken us down.

Hard to say, maybe 18th? I feel our squad now is almost as good as last year and given the young squad an extra year will do them good.

If we get some more of our rumoured targets I would be looking at top half.

This time last week I would have said 23rd/24th but the past week has definitely been a good one, signing our main targets who are all improvements.

So we will get Shackell then? :p

Probably, because Derby will offer him a LONGER deal than Burnley are willing to.

But it will cost Derby more than they really want to pay for a soon-to-be 32 year-old......£3 million plus at a conservative estimate which wouldn't be bad considering we signed him from Derby 3 years ago for just £1.1 million and he then skippered us to a £120 million promotion.:2thumb:

At the moment, about 16th-20th. We have virtually nothing upfront at the moment, two strikers are essential.

Ah bollox to this modesty crap. We are going to kick ass and get in the playoffs. I will especially enjoy it when we show the arrogant side of Sheffield actually how mediocre they are.
I will go and have a drink with my Blade friends and laugh about it. :2thumb:

A lot of Derby love in this thread. I'm not sure they will dominate as much as people think. Whilst Clement has a good pedigree, still unproven as a head coach. Quite like Derby though so wouldn't begrudge them going up. Clements dad is a bit of a hero at our place.

Other than scraping a win over them 14 months ago, have you actually seen them play? The rest of us have. And they've improved their squad since this last season.

At the moment we will struggle, and I would predict around 18th. Given that we currently only have about 16 players a few signings are inevitable and I am confident that Burt and Cotterill will bring in enough quality to see a comfortable mid table finish around 14th
