We certainly didn't play you off the park, we were the better team yes, wasn't a complete gulf or anything though.
Personally just think we stifled your play and didn't allow you to play, I did feel Oxford were lacking up front, does Roofe always play out wide?
The ref was terrible all game, for both teams too. It's a shame as it happens all too often.
He was the player I was alluding to in my last post. He is primarily a striker but Appleton will switch him to the wing when he feels the need to move things around. I don't think he likes Hylton and Roofe as a front pairing. It frustrates me because Roofe doesn't have the awareness defensively. He is also now our best player and should not play a peripheral role on the wing, although he can do a pretty decent job just behind a front man. I actually think he'd have had far more success in that position, because Northampton were sending their midfield charging forward to close down Lundstram whenever he had the ball and there should have been space behind them.
There was also a comment from someone about how much we could miss Baldock. I think anyone who saw us regularly would have anticipated this, and the club tried to do everything they could to keep hold of him. He was our main playmaker, even though he was a right back. So much went through him, and now we have to lean heavily on Lundstram to get things going. That makes us easier to stop.
And Bowery: I don't do many away games, so I missed both his goals which came against Portsmouth and Morecambe. The Pompey goal was important and nicely taken. Against Northampton I thought he looked average in the first half and tailed off in the second. As things stand, I think we have better options.
