I know, I know, I don't usually stoop to this level of wummery and starting threads dedicated to single players... but this is the first time since I joined this (including the old forum) forum that we've had anything at all to shout about, so it's happening.

Carlisle United (with Jabo) - 15
Leyton Orient - 14
Portsmouth - 13
Oxford United - 13
Plymouth Argyle - 11
Exeter City - 11
Luton Town - 10
Notts County - 10
Cambridge United - 9
Northampton Town - 9
Jabo Ibehre - 9
Hartlepool United - 8
Morecambe - 8
Wycombe Wanderers - 7
Mansfield Town - 7
Bristol Rovers - 6
Carlisle United (without Jabo) - 6
Wimbledon - 6
Accrington Stanley - 6
Stevenage - 6
Barnet - 6
Crawley Town - 5
York City - 5
Dagengham and Redbridge - 5
Newport County - 5
Yeovil Town - 5

And yes I know, with the League Cup, some teams have played a match more than others (although Jabo didn't start either of our League Cup games)... and I also know that we're shipping goals at the back for fun, and we've only scored 6 non-Jabo goals. Just let me have this one thing.

Jabo has scored 1 goal less than Newport and Dagenham combined (or Crawley, York or Yeovil)

Although I know he won't keep scoring at this rate for the rest of the season... I'm hoping we can reach a point (maybe after the next game) where he has scored more than two teams combined,

He still isn't on Paynter's level yet though...

He's scored more than us, and against us.

However, we are 2 points better off, fair deal for me.

Beat you in your cup final though didn't we. I see Ronnie hasn't tweeted an explanation for why you lost yet. I presume it'll be something along the lines of 'Jabo is love, Jabo is life'.

Jabo normally scores no more than nine in a season, so it's some going. He probably won't score until January now.

He is adored at Orient. I can barely believe how well he's doing, but I couldn't be happier for him.

Especially as yes, we've scored more than Jabo. :ds:

Yet 8 of those teams with less goals are above Carlisle in the table.
All you need is a goalkeeper, four defenders, four midfielders and a Jabo partner then Bingo! Cumbrian based world domination.

More's the point, we've scored more goals than all of them including Orient, yet have only conceded one goal fewer than we've scored (in all competitions, our goal difference in the League is -2). It's not a full-team we need to build around Jabo so much as just a couple of players, and/or time for our defence to gel so that we're not conceding so many. We didn't even need Jabo to beat QPR

Two whole points? Might as well give up now, we'll never close that gap.

Well, obv, neither of us would expect Carlisle to finish above us this season, realistically :bye:

Any team that finishes above Mansfield this year will win the title.

Oh above and beyond, the FA cup is ours too :conf:

It's good to see something decent happening for us both after last season

Certainly can't see either of us fighting relegation again, Hartlepool look in trouble again after yesterday then the other spot is once again up for grabs.

Thing is, when he was with us he would play like Pele against either Bristol Rovers or Carlisle. It is inevitable that now he's signed for one of them he would transform into Pele, rather than Pele with a bit of Shaun Batt.

He seems to be enjoying himself, with every goal his celebrations get more exuberant, makes you wonder why he wasn't scoring so many goals for his previous clubs. I know he's been playing at a higher level for most of his career but he started off at this level and wasn't scoring that many goals, and after that he's only been one division higher; ultimately it doesn't matter how good the team you're up against are, there will be at least one chance where if you can hit the target, you can score, and he's been putting the majority of his chances away. We don't even seem to be particularly hammering the opposition goal, it's just so far this season it's been a case of, if the ball lands at Jabo's feet, or comes anywhere near his head in the area, then it's going in the back of the net.

Maybe it's just that he got a reputation as a player who holds the ball up and provides for other goalscorers, and then was fit into roles which limited his opportunities to score. Curle had hinted earlier on, that he thought Jabo was a better goalscorer than he was expected to be, and has been proven right.

Jabo was more than a target man for us, he had pace, power, happy to run at players with the ball at his feet. He had it all, he was seriously unplayable... And then he had to deliver an end product. Single handedly kept glaziers in Leyton in business from all the broken windows in Brisbane and Windsor Roads.

Normally cringe at threads like this, but I actually laughed here.

Expecting some fake Jabo quotes to go with this wonderful revelation.
