TNL may not be as grand as the Shay but it is owned by the club whereas the Shay is a sports stadium where FC Halifax Town and Halifax Panthers rugby league club both play home games. The stadium is owned by Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council.

But should FC Halifax FC ever have the honour of visiting FGR at a future date [perhaps in FA Cup], the game will be played in a state of the art modern stadium. And I expect FC Halifax FC will be still be sharing their ground with a rugby club, courtesy of the local council.

The Shay was dug out of the very earth in the summer of 1921 by Shaymen true, in readiness for our first game in the Football League. We named ourselves The Shaymen in honour of those fine gentlemen. The ground is now a crown jewel of the town, held in trust by the council. The rugby club simply lied their way in there. Thanks for asking..
