The majority of our fans that went to Elland Road on Sunday me included were pretty impressed with the Leeds atmosphere. I don't think it necessarily dragged them back into the game as before Lassoga scored they were mocking their own players but after that they really got behind the team.

What're your opinions on the best home atmospheres in this division? I've been to Elland Road before and the atmosphere's been shite but I suppose it's more full nowadays which probably helps.

Hillsborough I hadn't been to since 03/04 my first ever away game and I was expecting quite a lot but there was more of an atmosphere at the Madejski and the KCOM which I found quite amusing, I always thought it was supposed to be quite noisy.

Molineux is pretty good as well, though having said that it's only really the South Bank making noise, the rest are either sat in silence or sat above you throwing coins and all sorts of shite at you.

I know atmospheres are mainly pretty dead in England nowadays but most clubs have their moments...

Been to Reading before and that little corner was pretty noisy throughout. I haven't been to many places compared to the bulk of you so hard for me to gauge it.

Birmingham shocked me as to how quiet that was. It was a relatively big game this season so thought that they may have got behind the team more than they did.

Recently QPR has been terrible at home but then when we were flying in Division 2 and then back up into Division 1 it was really good and everyone got behind the team. Problem is that our family stand is in the lower loft (home end behind the goal) which is where the noise came from but that has long gone now.

Other than that it is just odd games where is it good but with so many empty seats it will be like that. We have a group of fans trying to improve that now

i don't know what atmosphere there was a few years ago, but now, for me, the atmosphere of english football in stadiums is priceless

Absolutely none, ours is utter shit mainly cos the split over the band, most of our singers congregate in the NW end of the North Stand but still have that fucking band droning on.

Not a fan of these fucking flag displays either....

Ours is, like many I imagine, decent away but very hit or miss at home. Too many are happy to sit on their hands and that's become the norm. We've fan groups trying to make it better and, at times, it's good at home but usually quite poor. The cup games show we can do it which is even more frustrating.
In comparison to the atmosphere of yesteryear, virtually all games are crap now TBH.
I will give credit to the Leeds support, against us at their place, they spurred their team on after going 2 nil down and instigated the recovery, fair play to them!

Similar story to everyone else I imagine, away from home is pretty much always class, home atmosphere can be very hit and miss. A couple of years ago, it was fantastic throughout the Warburton era, really felt like every game at home was a cup final, but it's much quieter now (though still louder than most other grounds I've been to in this league). Think we've been hit a bit by increasing attendances, which always brings the atmosphere down for a while.

Having said all that, the atmosphere against Birmingham on Tuesday was brilliant.

Ours has it's moments but more often than not it's very poor. I think our problems is that the average age in the part of the ground that is traditionally the singing end is rapidly increasing. We have such a high proportion of the ground being season tickets that there is no space for younger fans to get in and prices stay high. With a waiting list for season tickets people who may have reached a stage where they'd start become more casual fans don't give up their season tickets because if they want them back they'd have to wait.

I think a second problem across English football is that we look at the European leagues and praise their atmosphere but when clubs or fan groups try to implement some of the things that European fans do then it's just dismissed as tinpot or inauthentic.

We have suffered, as every other club has, but are unlikely to change too much. Our support is intergenerational and increasingly not even London-based. There is a lot of of cultural carry-over, that hasn't been the case for your Cardiffs and Stokes. I imagine one of the only reasons Leeds were able to hang to so much of their matchday experience is because they hit the doldrums at just the right time. Adversity does wonders for a club's identity.

I appreciate we haven't played at yours for a few years but it was always hostile and partisan. Maybe it is good for certain games, I don't know but I do like the atmosphere as it was at your place. The old one was just plain nuts!

I can't remember the last time we played Brentford in a match of any particular importance. The most dramatic it's been between the two sides was David Livermore scoring the last goal of the millennium to snatch us three points from the jaws of defeat. It does raise a good point, though: this anecdotal measure of atmospheres is a bit silly, because it implies there was a time when football atmospheres were always good. Interestingly, people often think of the 1980s as being the last gasp for a vibrant matchday culture, despite that decade being a historic low for attendances.

As an aside, the one thing I do like about Millwall supporters is that we’re probably the only set of fans in the country to find more inspiration in an opposition player getting cut in half by a karate kick than a sustained period of attacking pressure.

I was expecting more when I was at the den earlier this season. Much of your ground is standing so I thought it would be better, especially with your hatred for Holloway.

I bet once it gets going, it is a properly good atmosphere there. There was little moments when you found your voice but no real chanting as such, just all making a noise at the same time.

Not too sure on best atmosphere but for me Wolves was the most intimidating, looking through the current Championship teams I've only seen us play at 6 (Wolves, Sheffield Utd, Sheffield Wed, Barnsley, Bolton, Forest) and Wolves I have to admit I couldn't wait to get out of there, had my Town top on but had my jacket full zipped up so it didn't show!
At Wednesday I saw one of our fans get knocked clean out by a huge Wednesday fan but I didn't have my Town colours on that day so wasn't too worried about myself.
The other 4 felt completely safe walking after the game alongside the home fans, probably because we lost them all though except for a draw at Bolton!

Home atmospheres are dead now unless it’s a local game or play offs type affair, even then too many Johnny-come-latelies mixed amongst the ordinary fans subdues the atmosphere.

Away ends are where it’s at these days, makes me smile that away fans (ourselves included) routinely mock other sides home support knowing full well it’ll be the exact opposite for the return fixture.

Most grounds are poor. Ours is fucking awful, bar the odd game. Blame that on been a non league club and the flask and non league directory brigade.
The link above genuinely makes my hairs stand on end however. Amazing stuff

Definitely a contributing factor. Been to plenty of great atmospheres in the past at the Den, the last couple just a bit flat.
