How do you police it though?

If I’m a season ticket holder coming back from Manchester (bore off it anyone mentions I’m saying it too many times) either I can’t come back or away fans can’t.

And trust me, if I’ve got a season ticket and I can attend the first game no-ones telling me I can’t come back to see my mates I’ve not seen for 3 months or the football team for longer than that.

It’s not going to be easy to police
Don't think anyone's suggesting policing it, there'll just be no away allocation. If we're talking 25% of seated capacity then a lot of clubs will barely be able to get their ST holders in so we could have situations where there are no tickets on general sale at all.

One thing we will all need to be aware of as well, is that going forward if there is a major second spike in a certain place in the country, then its likely the government would introduce a local lockdown in that particular area. Meaning any games in that area would be off for however long.

Aye, that’s happened in Germany already.

Also given how lax people seem to be in London and the population density down there it’s likely to affect those more than ever

The 25% limit has been touted in government circles - increasing in line with how the virus behaves. I think now the 2m rule has been replaced with 1m then the 25% attendance may well be increased.

As it stands you’d have to have an empty seat either side of you plus the seat in front of you and the one behind - so, in effect, 1 fan per 5 seats. Going to 1m would do away with the empty seats in front and behind so 1 fan per 3 seats = 33% capacity.
your maths is very very off - the average seat width in a football stadium is 491mm - with the 2 metre rule you would need 4 empty seats either side of you and 3 empty rows in front and behind which gives you one seat in 20 not 1 seat in 5......

going to 1 metre would not do away with 1 row in front or behind and but would reduce it from 3 to 1 empty row. it would reduce the empty seats either side from 4 to 2. That would give you 1 seat in 6 instead of 1 seat in 20.

I think social distancing is in relation to actual face to face, not side by side or front to back.

Interesting that weddings are back on but no singing allowed. Wonder if some sort of maniacal rule about fans not shouting, swearing, singing or clapping will be part of the reopening! Hopefully the outside element will override.

to be honest if people have the masks on there should be no reason to not have 50% or 100% capacity.
weddings with no singing and pubs with no karaoke...
there's a few teams in the NL and probably L2 whose fans won't be affected by a lack of singing....

No celebrating goals as a Mental could cause as super spreading event!

Can't see away fans allowed into grounds where most won't have space to accommodate all the home fans who want entry.

Quickly worked out revised capacities as follows
View attachment 12808

1,100 is the size of our away stand.

Our seated capacity is 3,912. So as I posted yesterday on another thread our new capacity would be 978. Still less than the number of season ticket holders we have.

It's been like that for a while - .and with other events.

The pubs will probably be rammed as well when they open as much as they are allowed to.

Well we have the beaches, protests (on both sides..) and the general celebrating of events.

Be loads of BBQs and parties.

For many now it will just be like a normal summer.

Only thing you cannot do is go swimming or play cricket it seems.

(Or go to football!)

Yep, it seems there are plenty of people who don't care about their safety, the safety of their families or anyone else.

I care deeply about the safety of my family which is why I don't let them drive cars or cross roads.

It's all about risk management at the end of the day.

I'm more worried about random lightning strikes at this time of year than common colds.

July 4th being a Saturday will be a disaster. I expect major disorder. I feel sorry for the coppers and ambulance staff who are going have to deal with the fucking morons.

It would have made sense to have done it on a Monday to allow the staff to get used to things, and if folk really feel they need to desperately go to the pub on the the first day maybe they’d reign it in more on a Monday than a Saturday.

I’d bloody love a pint, but bloody hell, I’m not they desperate!

But that would involve common sense, and seemingly that seems in short supply when it comes to the government
