What a terrible day. Had a few bets today and all naff, Arctic Fire falling didn't help, made a last minute decision to stick a fiver on Call The Cops to get my money back but got beat on the line, I even called Tagliatelle but put it in an acca that lost. Will stick a tenner in my account tomorrow and just have that for the weekend and see what I can do.

The Melling chase looks a belter tomorrow. My heart says Cue Card, but would take a hell of an improvement on recent form. Al Ferof is also a top horse.

Other than the Melling, it's difficult to get excited about today's racing at Aintree. Two big handicaps which I do not enjoy betting on at all.

I'm even a little underwhelmed by this years Topham.

As for the Melling, I can't look past Champagne Fever. I've always been a big admirer of Cue Card and Al Ferof but with their respective surgeries, the class of Champagne Fever, his break after missing Cheltenham and the fact his yard are in good form, it is going to take a lot to get the better of him and the enhanced 7/2 that Hills are offering from 8.30 this morning is too good to turn down.

A double of Champagne Fever and Monetaire for me today at around 48/1 if taking advantage of Hills enhanced price.

And as Haddock mentions tips of the day, mine would be Great Expectations in the 5.00 at Leicester 11/2.

The Saint James has dropped from 8's to 4's in the first race. Lots of money going that horse

Decided on Knights Parade in the first with a small e/w stake. Horse is showing good form lately and stable is doing well

Don Cossack is a steal IMO had the beating of Champagne Fever before CF fell at the last anyway when they recently met and DC has excuses in the Ryanair but still finished strong..... I have had so many seconds recently don't let me put off anyone going CF
