How big a stadium could your club have?

In terms of potential, how high in the leagues they could get, past crowds in higher lagues in recent years, local population growth and so on. For my club I think the best we could ever muster could be a 15,000 stadium, thats us in the Championship doing well with a genorous away end. I am sure we would sell more if we were in the top flight, but they would be just palstic Liverpool and United types packing it out.

I only ask this as there is a story going around that HS2 (if it ever happens) will gobble up Gresty Road.

If we managed a spell similar to Southampton at the moment I reckon ~40,000. We averaged just under 31K in 06/07 so with sustained PL football and an outside chance at European football I think it'd be possible.

As for Vale if we did get a new ground I would like it to be 12,000 with the option to expand personally. Something similar to the New York Stadium in size would suit us nicely. If we got to the Prem a lot would depend on where Stoke were in the system. If they were in the Prem I doubt we'd pull in more than 15000 a week inc away fans but if Stoke were back down the pyramid I guess we'd pick up a fair few pot hunters.

27,000 is the biggest I think we could ever get, and even that would need a significant growth of our fan base into North London, our stadium is about the right size for us at 20,000 and it would take a significant spell in the prem to ever need much more.

Weird one as we have a stadium which was built for our potential at 32,000. We have sold it out a mere 3/4 times, but it does show that we can do it if we have a slight chance of success.
If we were to build a new stadium, which could still be possible, SISU have spoke about 15-20k. At this moment in time that would be fine, but it would limit our potential significantly.

Moving to a new, bigger stadium, has been very successful for teams such as Derby and Leicester who have increased their average gate consistently.

For both Bury and Halifax Town, a 9,000 capacity stadium would do for now. Both edged over 8,000 (iirc) at very well-attended games this season gone, and haven't gotten close in a long time.

It this an exceedingly subtle set up to rope in Vale fans? They say they need a 20k stadium cos they are so massive and you point out how tinpot their support to ground size ratio is?

Ours holds 7000 and that's plenty. Not because we don't have potential but because most people in our town support everyone but the Albion. Id rather have 3000 albion than 6000 part time, "check Skysports see how Chelsea are getting on, "are we meeting in spoons at 8?" Type of fans

Gresty road is like a guy who goes to the gym and doesn't do his legs. Hence one side bigger than the other..

I reckon 20,000 for us. We have been in the doldrums for that long people forget what it was like being a tic in the late 80s and early 90's. Everyone in the town was a blue and the ground was packed every week without fail. With even half that success we could drag some punters in. Still know loads of fans who "follow"us. They could get the itch back with a bit of success

Valley Parade is actually unfinished, I shit you not.

The main stand, even though impressive in size, is currently 4,000 seats shy of its initial revised capacity. Holding a little over 9,000, it runs 3/4 of the length of the pitch, and looks a tad silly.

Whilst in the Prem, we underwent a few stadium improvements, such as the errection *giggle* of the North-West corner and the upper tier on the Main Stand.

The double decker (current away end) was due to be demolished, and a 2,500 seater away end, was supposed to be built.

Also, the Midland Road stand was supposed to have another tier, essentially doubling its capacity to 9,000.

This would've given Valley Parade a capacity of just under 35,000 - whether we would've sold out in the Prem is anyone's guess...probably not.

We have sold out Valley Parade 4 times in the last 3 seasons, so the potential is clearly there. Coupled with attractive ticket prices, and I think it's fair to say that we would average anything up to 30,000 in the PL

I think City has huge potential and if we were for some reason a top 6 PL club we would get 40k plus I reckon if prices weren't stupid. But I'm not sure that will happen in reality. If we were doing well in the championship with good prices we would get about 25k I would have thought.

Our capacity is 7,000 which is just about right for now. When the Pirelli stadium was built though the foundation work was done for the club to be able to expand in the future. That may be possible, our fan base is growing slowly but 10/15,000 would probably be the maximum ever required.

Ours would be fine. We hardly sold out when we were in the Prem so unless tickets were ridiculously cheap we wouldn't need a bigger ground in higher leagues even though there would probably be a few more through the gates due to the past few years of fan generation. It would be nice to replace the Bradford End (shit away stand) at some point but there's a road and houses right behind it so it won't be getting done until absolutely necessary.
