Jesus Christ, some of the replies in this thread...

I spend about £10 a week, if that. I went out last Sunday and spent £30, and that was a fucking expensive day for me.

If you're so drunk that you're talking shite and can't walk straight after a couple of pints, I suggest binning it off completely, or drinking more so you actually have some tolerance to it!

Or just talk shite all the time so nobody can tell the difference.

5 years ago (when I was younger and single) I was more like what The Southbank was above, with a Friday night session, all day Saturday around football, and then a chilled few down the pub on the Sunday. How the fuck I lived through that I've no idea. It'd kill me now.

:bg:

It's easily done, especially when your local was effectively your second home and you sometimes saw more of the regulars than you did your own missus......

I've got in the habit of having a drink with dinner when I'm on expenses through work but other than that, I rarely drink.

I'm actually quite shocked at some of the responses to this.
Me too. I thought some of the early replies of £40 or £50 a week were a lot but clearly I was wrong.

My alcohol consumption usually consists of a couple of drinks at home or in the pub on a Friday or Saturday, so about £5-10 a week.

Averaged about £50-100 a week when I was living in HK. Drinking can be pretty cheap there, with plenty of good happy hours, so after work sessions were the norm. The restaurants also sell the big bottles of Tsing Tao for about £2-3, so difficult not to drink at dinner either...

Probably more of weekend alcoholic now I'm in the UAE, where its terrifyingly expensive for alcohol, so I limit it to a 24 hour session at the weekend, from when I leave the office. Usually averaging a £100 a session, easy to drop £200, but that doesn't get you a lot when your limited to drinking in 5* hotels...

£250 is a minimum generally mate. £40 on a Monday,Wednesday,Thursday. £60/70 on a Friday, over a ton on a Saturday and £50 on a Sunday is roughly the average spending. Fuck knows how anyone can spend over a ton on a day out cos I can't physically sup that much but I do spend it.
Where do you go 5 nights a week?

Was too much, I'd be having a few drinks after playing football on a Monday and Wednesday and then Friday's and the football on Saturdays/Sunday's.

About 5 weeks ago though I cut drinking in the week out unless it's actually for a reason other than sitting in the pub after football but I've not had a reason yet. Saved loads of money and lost about a stone!

On a Saturday when Mansfield play I'll spend about £50/60 I reckon.

People are either boasting needlessly about it, or have serious issues they need to address.

Why?

I go out socialising a lot because I enjoy it. It's not 'boasting needlessly' either, it's answering the question in the thread title.

I've cut down a hell of a lot, probably due to change of jobs.

Up until Christmas, for about 3 years I was going into the pub on my way home from work every night, 90% of the time staying in there until last orders. I was on pretty good money for my age, just over £700 p/w but my bank account was never building up, despite having little expenses (living at home with parents, no car). So I was probably doing close to £400 a week, quite sickening looking back at it.

I don't do a lot now mind, I'm on less wages but have more expenses. I only really go out on a Friday and Sunday, then just a few pints on a couple of days during the week with the missus when we fancy it. I've probably cut it down to about £150 now. Still a terrible amount mind.

Fuck my life...

How many units does £100-200 pw translate into? It's a problem whether you want to acknowledge it or not.

Since last Saturday I've done about £500 in going out, been an absolute mad en. Buying rounds of shots repeatedly all night builds up big time.

I reckon I average out at about £70 a week.

Few beers on a week night after work. £25 maybe in a pub on Friday and then a bit more if going "out out" on the Sat.

Never change mnb....

Hadn't drunk at all in 2016, but then accidentally drank a taster of "ginger wine" at an English Heritage site this afternoon. However, in my defence it's quite hard to turn down a kind offer as 'ginger wine' when you're being offered it by a man dressed as a Norman knight.

It wasn't until I was having a taster of the jams and chutneys that I realised my error. I am clearly a massive hypocrite.

About £10 per week at the moment cos its so cheap here

Just stick to straight vodka now which is great if I can keep it in control but sometimes it gets quite messy...in Manchester it'd probably be £20-30 a week on pre-drinks (why are they called pre drinks when its actually just 'drinks'?) and not much once I'm out..., head out about midnight and sober up about 4am, head home and wake up fine...but knackered after lots of awful dancing.

Varies for me. Roughly £50 per week, I should think. It would be a bit more but the other half bringing home beer from the brewery where she works is a bit of a bonus.

I genuinely don't think I could give it up altogether. Dryanuary would be hellish.

I don't really have any inclination to give it up for a sustained period of time but I always think that forgoing alcohol in January is especially unappealing (and reckon whoever concocted such an idea must be particularly cruel). It's the most UNRELENTINGLY MISERABLE month of the year - need some booze just to make it through.

I did Dry January last year and it coincided with me having no work so I had the whole month off whilst waiting for a job to start. It went quite quick actually, The only time I struggled was the away games but we only had 2 maybe 3 but Carlisle away on the last day of the month was a ballache. The Sunday (1st of Feb) made up for it all though. Raised about £650 so all worth it in the end.
