Police turned up to an organised fight between kids, tried stopping it, got attacked, including a female officer, got their heads stamped on.

This wasn't police brutality, this was idiotic chavvy schoolkids attacking police.

To be fair you could be talking about the police when they're are in their riot gear and big numbers. Or just when they feel they have control of a situation.

That being said I'm not sure this is a good example of civil disobedience.

I give my opinion without prejudice Techno (If it was the other way about I would certainly condemn the Police & have done so on many occasions) & of course it certainly could be described as you state but what I described is what I saw mate & on this occasion the rats are NOT wearing the uniform.

Police go around black areas of London and stop kids. They always say "you fit the description of a person involved in a burglary/seen carrying a knife/suspected of dealing drugs". It's a lie, a more-or-less unverifiable pretext to carry out a search. This has happened to loads of people I know (but strangely, no white people I know). Even the cops recognise that one-in-four Stop and Searches are unlawful.

Anyway, the Met's PR department are liars so I'm calling bullshit on the "pre-arranged fight" stuff. The video shows a child pinned to a car by a burly man - clearly in some distress. His friends are clearly concerned for him - at first they're just watching/filming, but then start shouting "you're choking him, stop choking him" and that's when there becomes a collective urgency to physically intervene to help out their mate.

Doubt any of these kids have any illusions about how the police in Lambeth work - it's only weeks since the cops who lied about their involvement in Sean Rigg's death in Brixton Police Station were cleared in court.

I don't normally get involved with this part of the forum, but I am distinctly uncomfortable with the acceptance of casual violence expressed in this thread.

I accept some members of the police force are wrong 'uns, but applauding a mob assault on two people going about their daily job is outrageous, and more than one of you needs to give your head a wobble. Did you lot feel the same way about the two officers murdered by Dale Cregan?

I am indifferent to the plight of individual coppers who, consciously or not, reinforce and make themselves complicit in that violence. It is very much us against them, and they are far better equipped to take the fight to us and they do it far more often than we do.
