Bury - bit of a head case club the last few years, appear to have reverted to a more sensible approach but the remnants of previous season could leave a hangover. Mid table.
Cambridge United - my perennial dark horse. Nothing much appears to have changed from last season to this. Upper mid table.
Carlisle United - nothing but doom and gloom emanating from the league’s most northerly club. A lack of backing from the boardroom despite decent crowds seems to have sucked the life out of this once top flight club. In the relegation mix.
Cheltenham Town - our personal nemesis. Lost Eisa but have bulked up the squad with a number of decent additions. Wily old fart Gary Johnson should steer them to a comfortable mid table position.
Colchester United - another of my dark horses. Appear to have recruited well, Norris notwithstanding, and can look forward to an improved season. Knocking about the POs.
Crawley Town - yet another club that has seen some decent additions to their squad which should see them fluctuate between mid table and the POs.
Crewe - the ultimate lower league spawning ground for young talent. Their fortunes always rely on those youngsters available at any given time being poor, decent or very good. Difficult for an outsider to know what to expect. Lower mid table.s
Exeter City - last season’s PO losers. Ditched Tisdale and gone for a rookie ex player. Kept hold of Stockley, so far, but I feel the dramatic management change may take a season to bed in. Upper mid table.
FGR - Mr Charisma still in charge down on the farm. Couple of good additions but still a real dodgy defence. Another season flirting around the relegation mix.
Grimsby Town - awful old shit last season, including doing the double over our good selves. Surely can’t go on such a dreadful run again. Solid mid table this time round.
Lincoln City - very strong first season backhas been built upon with some impressive signings. Only slight doubt is any supposed change of style may blow them off course initially. Potential champions.
Macclesfield - loss of manager a huge blow and haven’t appeared to have recruited adequately for L2. A real struggle lies ahead. Relegation candidate.
Mansfield Town - ultimately blew up after a very good two thirds start to last season. Recruited very well, but can’t discount the Flitcroft factor. Should be right up there until the inevitable Flitcroft injury crisis hits. Play Offs.
Franchise - for some reason the pre season favourite. Can’t see it myself and a bland mid table campaign beckons. Beat Oxford in a pre season friendly. Kudos!
Morecambe - difficult to see anything other than another season of struggle. I think we may well have an even older striker than Ellison this season. Relegation.
Newport County - really good season last, just petering out at the finish. Lost a lot of goals with Armand and Nouble leaving. Could well struggle replacing them adequately and could well be knocking around the bottom 6.
Northampton Town - load of old Cobblers last season but should be capable of flirting with the POs this. Any other cast offs would be welcome at the County Ground!
Notts County - very confident noises emanating from Meadow Lane. Should build on last season’s campaign. Another’s club which could change style and may struggle initially. Potential champions.
Oldham Athletic - the trapdoor finally opened for the Latics last season and they don’t appear to have strengthened much this. Could be a slog to see them finish mid table.
Port Vale - headcase club for a couple of seasons. Sense seems to have returned to Burslem and I fancy them to have a strong season. Play offs.
Stevenage - another of the so called smaller clubs that have appeared to have recruited well. Could be a surprise challenger this season.
Swindon Town - a real flat season last year with some horrendous Flitcroft induced home performances. Potentially we have the league’s best midfield. Recruitment ongoing which should see improved defence and attack which, at the moment, both look suspect. Play offs beckon at worst.
Tranmere Rovers - nice to welcome them back to proper football! Got a feeling their fans have underestimated how strong a lot of clubs are in L2. Nobody stands out in their recruitment so a bit of a struggle beckons. Should be safe.
Yeovil Town - lost a main man and appear not to have recruited much. Raft of red cards last season didn’t help. My idea of a relegation candidate.
