Not what I meant. It’s just who really cares, or what relevance is there, in winning promotion from a perceived poor league.

It only really means something if it carries over into L1.

I concur with Indian Dan’s reasoning here as in our promotion season 15/16 we had some proper shockers, lost to a right load of shit that season, Altrincham Chester Gateshead and Halifax just off the top of my head are some of the shite that beat us and there’s probably more that I’ve forgotten.
Did losing to those lot and then only fluking our way to promotion out of a shite standard league thanks to a stupid Braintree defender in the play off Semi Final dampen our celebrations?
Not one fucking bit. :woo:

I remember that game very well and you're thanking the wrong person. It was all down to Danny Cowley, who in his wisdom thought it a good idea to take off his two strikers around the 70th min mark when they were looking the most likely side to score.

And no, the standard of the league shouldn't put a damper on your celebrations. Back in the connie days I used to gauge our chances by looking at the number of decent sides (the easiest and simplest way after all) and there were a number of seasons where I'd already given up by September 'cos the number of such sides was as many as 10.

Unto 2013/14, and I was quietly optimistic of going up as the number of really strong sides had fallen to about 6 or 7 at the most, and the number was probably lower in 2015/16. But with only 2 sides going up, to go and actually do it is still an achievement in my eyes.

Yeah Cowley fucked up big time there as Akinola looked dangerous in both games and taking him off was pretty much giving us free roam to go and attack with no worry of being hit on the break for those last 20 minutes.
I get why he did it to try and protect what they had but it obviously backfired massively as once we finally scored with Braintree then having no attacking thread whatsoever it was only gonna be a matter of time before we scored again, from going 3 and a half games against them never looking like scoring suddenly every time we went forward we looked like we were gonna score. Great day. :bg1:
