If anything, isn't this all the more reason to consider the appointment of Rodgers a failure?
One of the things that English clubs have to deal with because of the wealth they have in comparison with other leagues, is that they have to pay a premium on players from the continent and even more for a good English player (which I always find strange tbh). It has been a hit and miss policy on signings, but we don't know if he is the one making the signings to begin with. In the papers just the other day at the meeting, it was apparently stipulated that he'd have no further say than that currently on players coming in. We thus cannot judge Rodgers alone on the signings; and he is doing an adequate enough job overall imo, far from failing. Yes things have to be addressed over the summer and into the season, but they are fixable and the situation is not catastrophic.
