Do we all pretend that L1 is fun and real and proper football , away from the Thai and kazakstan tycoons , and that we ALL love away trips to Fleetwood Town and Accrington ?... Or are we all desperate , DESPERATE ! lol ... to leave this tier and join the wannabbeeees Yo yo wanabeeeeees in the Championship ?.... for me ,as a Derby fan , this season so far has been refreshing and great , Shrewsbury, Lincoln, Fleetwood , that's 2 points outta 9 , but that's three away stadiums and places my club and me have not been to for ages.... WBA away or Fleetwood away ??.... its harder than you would think

Look forward to seeing you when you come down to Home Park.

I started off in life supporting a team normally in the top tier. I enjoy far more the football experience of my adopted team, which has mostly in the past 20 years been in tier 3 and 4. I would love us to get to the championship, but I see that as the likely apex of our ambitions. I am happy with that, my children obviously would not be.

What I would say is that I am really enjoying this year, which is probably because the way the team is playing, the sense of oneness with the fans and the rare situation of having a gaffer who has tactical nouse to turn around performances during a game. I’m having a blooming blast, and sharing some life long memories with my kids.

Honestly this season hasn’t been as enjoyable. We are largely doing ok relative to what would have expected but I think it’s the case the journey of getting here was far better than actually being here. As daft as it sounds I preferred L2 for that reason.

As for getting to the Championship sure if the chance arose of course it’d be good but I’m under no illusion that without a Bournemouth or Brentford style cash injection it wouldn’t be for long.

Nah, losing to Bath City and Grays Athletic in the Conference was way more fun.

I’ve been a bit bored if I’m honest so far but maybe it’s for us a case of “after the Lord Mayors show” we had a quick turnaround and going from the magical night against Swindon and that euphoria of Wembley winners (our first ever visit) followed by the Robbie Williams concert at Vale Park and kit reveal into a few short weeks playing our kids and not having a squad in place for the opening few games.

I’ve enjoyed the club hooking onto the fans that came for the run in and seeing VP with over 8k in most weeks has been great but it has felt a bit flat, even if we’ve largely done ok, especially with how hamstrung we were up until deadline day.

Whilst the football has been better quality wise it’s been more attritional, tactical so less enjoyable than league two in that aspect.

The Portsmouth game for example was the most bored I’ve been at a match!

Christmas Eve is better than Christmas Day. Sometimes the reality is not as good as the build up. League one certainly is not the panacea although I’m sure to a Wrexham fan it is right now.

I don’t think any league is fun.
Although my mate is a Wimbledon fan and he said when they went down to step 7 and reformed it was the best time of his life. Every game was like a cup final at small grounds and they had something like 6 promotions. Now that is fun.
And that is it for me. It’s not necessary the league you are in. It’s how you are playing and the entertainment factor you are getting.
If we go down i might enjoy next season more. Unless we are as equally shit there too.

It depends on your perspective.

Football at 3pm on a Saturday. Fairly reasonable pricing. Generally fielding a competitive side looking up not down most seasons. Players you can warm to earning a relatable wage. Standing on terraces. A financially stable club.

The alternative 'success' is the opposite of all of the above.

I know some people measure their enjoyment and status by the glamour of the opposition they face. I've never got that personally. I go to support my team, not fawn at the players.

The only downside for me is being at a lower level than our rivals, but I wouldn't trade my footballing experience at this level for that in the Premier League, so in a way I pity them.

Fun is a water park or going to Alton towers.
Football is torturous at the best of times, fun it ain’t.
But we still go more in hope than expectation.
Man City fans might say it’s fun.

Tomorrow should really illustrate just how ‘fun’ football can be…

Stoke are our only real rivals, Walsall and Crewe hate us (and seemingly Swindon now) but in this division there are none, Derby is closest and we haven’t met for 25 years or so, from the days we sold you RVDL!

Burton we’ve never had a rivalry with, it’s usually just a decent away day and a fair few have s soft spot for them if anything.

The only one we had was Shrewsbury but that was a fleeting one between 2007 and 2010 but has died off since.
