A little pessimistic about our chances in January, which is another difficult month. Northwood were the early leaders for a while before they dropped off. St Ives were top just a month ago. Aylsebury FC and Beaconsfield are looking at a push for the playoffs. Arlesey are lower mid-table with a decent enough cushion on the bottom 2 not to be under pressure and North Greenford sit bottom with just 11 points from 19 games.
We've got 46pts from 22 games. Based on the last two seasons (both div 1's) roughly 80pts should get you a playoff place (from 42 games). I've got us to pick up 8, if we can get 10+ then I might start getting confident of a playoff place and thinking about a title push (depending on what others do of course). Right now I'm just happy to be in the mix.
The first two games got postponed due to weather, so I was predicting 5 points from the 4 games that went ahead, which was pretty close, as we managed to win at Aylesbury putting us 2 ahead of my predictions, with the other 3 results correct! Not bad predicting. 7/12 instead of 8/18.
I did get a little carried away by the nature of the two wins (8-1 and 4-2), and the fact we got the draw at Northwood with 10 men for about 60 mins. Today's 4-0 loss does have me going the other way a bit. Crucially though other teams around us have been dropping points I wouldn't have expected them to, and that's cause for optimism.
I'd now be very disappointed if we missed out on a playoff spot, I expect us to finish somewhere in the top 5. We've got a busy February, despite my recent turn to talking about a title push I should probably back off that a bit until the back end of the month and see where we're at.
