You may have won the battle, but Chelsea will win the war

such a good post till thenI rate Stones highly, and seeing as England's best center-back is currently Gary Cahill I really hope he continues to improve and becomes a mainstay in our national side. Gone are the days when we have the likes of Ferdinand, Terry, Campbell and Carragher to choose from, that's for sure!
I don't see the rush in why Stones would want to move currently. Everton are a perfect club for him to progress as a player and learn. He's outstanding with the ball but he can certainly improve his actual defending. He's 21, a big move can happen for him 2 or 3 years down the line.

I agree totally.60k i think he cost.Haha!
That's not to say Everton aren't a big club. They are. But if he has ambitions of winning major trophies as most players do then obviously a move to Chelsea or Man City would obviously appeal to him at some point in his career. Personally I think Seamus Coleman is you're star player, and one of the best full-backs around. Didn't you sign him for buttons too from some Irish pub team?
We are Everton not Liverpool, we keep our players and are not bullied like your shower of shiteThe funny thing about the Stones saga is how Everton were the ones who continually banged on about the potential transfer, despite apparently not being interested in selling. Yes, it was mainly to point out that he wasn't for sale, but they only needed to do this once, not every time Martinez was on TV or when they had the opportunity to release some words to the press and media. I have little doubt they would have sold him for the right price, and their actions over the last 3-4 weeks were angling towards getting that price (£40m maybe?). They simply misjudged what Chelsea were prepared to pay and didn't expect £35m to be the final bid.
However, they're not left in a bad position. Now he knows he's at Goodison until at least next summer (no way will he be moving in January), Stones will want to make up for his show of disloyalty to get back in with the fans, and if he has a good season his value will at worst stay the same given his current contract length but in all probability increase, especially if the Chelsea defence continues to struggle this season and they come back in for him with increased desperation.
One thing I'm pretty sure about, he won't be at Everton in a couple of years. He's too good a player for a team that's happy to flirt with the Europa spots.

To be fair I don't think Everton were that bothered about losing Rodwell, and that's been shown to be a good decision. Rooney and Lescott though, in particular the latter, they definitely didn't want to lose.
A general question about transfers, does anyone know if Stones (for example) would get a loyalty bonus if a club was to buy him next summer, if he wasn't to hand in another transfer request? Or does the fact he's handed one in mean he has forgone the bonus regardless of when he's sold?
That was why we never let him go to Barca for £65 millionWhat's the update on Everton trying to buy out the sell-out clause Barnsley had on him? Haven't heard anything for a while.
your not very good at this are you Saltire
Lose an argument then you deflect with that.
This guy is beyond boring. Even the very worst trollers can make you smile from time to time, this dude is just awful.
I really don't get the logic of even trying to buy it out. The only reason Everton would do so is because they expect to lose more money due to the clause should Stones be sold than they're offering Barnsley. So why would Barnsley be so stupid as to accept it when they'd know this too? So why bother?
Maybe a guaranteed £2m now would be better than a likely £3-4m next summer?
I doubt any club would view it that way, unless they needed that money now to stay afloat. Most would surely be prepared to wait another 12 months for another million or two. Stones would need to be sold for less than £20m for the £2m offer to make sense, and there is zero chance of that happening. You can see why they told Everton to f**k off.
I take it you 2 bufoons let the wife do the banking at home.Like you say, it probably depends on their financial situation. But even if they're not skint, a chairman may well view £2m now as a chance to boost their chances of getting back into the Championship.

have you got the painters in? i actually thought you were male.................... it is 15% sell on by the way.Armchair implied it was a 10% sell on, I couldn't be bothered confirming it. If it's higher then the £2m offer is even more of a piss take.
Oh, and if you're going to attempt the intellectual high ground, learn to spell.
Have you paid up yet Armchair? To be honest, the 10% was just a random amount. The situation still stands though.
