So now we've had 9 threads with more than 10 posts, it's clear that single threads is alive and well and it doesn't need changing.

Hope that everyone has woken up and realised its good as it is. If others coming from a different league find it odd, well it's a good chance for you to adapt.

I don't know, maybe it's right that League 2 should be doing more to emulate the Conference, I wonder what else we could introduce to help the promoted teams feel more at home?
  • Shit refereeing
  • Fans changing ends at half time
  • Matches postponed after grounds fail safety tests
  • Woking
  • Portakabins serving as club shops
  • The FA Cup qualifying rounds
  • John Still
  • All matches postponed in January
  • The Bob Lord Trophy
  • Expelled for going into administration
  • Promotion and relegation decided as much by being able to complete fixtures and facilities as by league position

Being the only Stevenage fan on here (?) I'd vote joint thread if I had to choose one. Can't be arsed creating a thread to talk to myself when we play sides from underrepresented clubs. Would also mean an end to match threads with shite titles and that can only be a good thing.

I think it was said that they'd be a split this season on the type of threads and there were votes from L2 posters for a joint thread so it's not just the ones coming from a different league (although no-one actually kicked up a fuss about it).

Common sense just needs to be used, as per Captain's post. I think a sub-forum (not this one, I believe it was L1) had threads started just because there wasn't one and no-one posted in them. It made the place look clogged up and inactive.

A happy medium, IMO, would be to have a joint thread started and allow people to make a call on whether their game requires it's own match thread. For example, Lincoln vs Grimsby would need it's own thread (as it used to in the NL part) but Colchester vs Stevenage where there are very few of their fans on here won't need one but there might be a fan of each team who'd like to contribute and can do so via the joint thread.

For instance, Lincoln vs Morecambe at the weekend would end up being Lincoln fans talking to each other so that'll probably go into the joint thread.

Personally, I'd fine it easier, and quicker, reading through a joint thread but some might find that confusing having to dip between different games. I've only looked in half of the match threads this weekend.

EDIT - It also helps when you've got quite a few active posters from the relegated and promoted sides. It was always going to be busier this season in that respect.

Well, we had a vote and the people spoke. The good people of the L2 forum demanded an end to their cluttered home and stupid fucking whacky thread titles. The good people instigated a landslide victory for a single thread.

Now Adam Stag and his cronies want to take democracy away? UNACCEPTABLE.

This single thread thing seems to be a purely Grimsby-based obsession.

I've never been to Grimsby but can only assume that the topic dominates discussion in the TOWN's pubs, hairdressers and taxis, or that they're just used to sharing everything down there. They share threads, clothes, sexual partners and so on.

Solution - set up a 'single match thread' and let the Grimmers pretend they won when in reality it's just them bickering amongst themselves with the Stevenage fan chiming in a little.

I merely believe in justice and equality. Not states of terror and the overthrowing of election results.

The trouble with a single thread, it gets to crowded and as there are a few teams in this league with decent followings on here it will get dominated by those and it will get a bit boring and people will not be bothered to read the content. Keep it as it is , with a thread for every game.
I think your find with a lot of well supported teams in this league this year the vote could well be different

Single match thread seems ok, but rather than comments get lost, just quote each update for individual matches?

Not sure what the problem is, there was individual match threads and a single match thread this weekend and people posted in whichever they wanted.

Happy medium as expected, the individual thread lovers seem to think a single thread means no individual threads which was never the case.

If you don't like the single thread, don't post in it. (good news for some as it means we read even less of Adams boring posts)

I felt a lot less connected to the rest of the league's results this weekend because I didn't want to go through 8 different threads to see what was going on.

Only one of the individual threads (a relatively local derby between sides with several regular posters) got over 3 pages.

I agree with Luke - default is a single match thread, with the derbies and games between well-represented clubs having their own threads.

Wycombe vs Lincoln was one Wycombe fan and 6 Lincoln, plus GTFCFish trying to WUM.

Happy to have individual threads. Not arsed about trawling through 8 pages of Barnet v FGR chat or Lincoln attempting lad banter aimed at Grimsby

That's the main problem with the single thread. Certain groups of fans on here (Grimsby / Lincoln are the ones that come to mind) love winding each other up. A single match thread will mean that they'll argue for pages and pages even on the weeks they aren't playing each other.

Meanwhile, Carlisle fans have spent what seems forever complaining about pretty much everything.

We get it, you don't like Curle. You don't hear us moaning about that (until now).

Surely winding up people is half the fun of a forum
It's fun when it's confined to relevant threads, I don't think it would be so fun when you're trying to get a conversation going regarding your match, but every couple of minutes a new page is created full of people WUMming each other.

When have you ever seen a Carlisle fan on here who didn't like Curle, we're still largely behind him on this forum and on the terrace.

Exactly. Plus Shoddy supports the same team as Carver, so he is just as guilty as us Grimsby and Lincoln fans.

In all seriousness, I don't care that much and I don't want this to drag on and on. However, I will say that the one single thread is so much better if you want to learn about the division as a whole. I was also against it before the Conference mods made us do it this way, but they were right. It is better.

Oh, and we voted to have one thread. The multi-cronies still haven't responded to that yet?

Have your thread if you want, and we'll have ours. I notice the single thread pretty much turned into a second match-thread for Luton.

At least Carver doesn't flog a dead horse over and over again, he restricts his wumming to the team we've got up next. Even seems to have stopped going after Vanni and Mowgli.

I can only assume you've not looked in the Chesterfield/Mansfield thread.

Us and Grimsby fans aren't that bad because we're ok posters. Mansfield have Adam and WH_Stag, for example.

The single match thread is much better without the 2 page threads for every single game dotted around, sucking all the juicy content of it.

If you arent bothered about increasing your L2 knowledge and want to go against the vote, thus demeaning democracy on both a forumwide and national scale then feel free to have your silly little threads.

Oh, I like Carver too by the way. That wasn't a dig.

Haha it's so cute when people come up from the Conference and experience these things for the first time. Well done your YouTube channel.
You seem to also like WUMming the Lincoln fans.

As a fresh non league pleb I have now seen the error of my multiple match thread ways and the single match thread is the future :hypo:

If you could please make sure everyone is on board for next season when we make our triumphant return it would be appreciated ;)

What were you doing on Lincoln's match thread?
Reading about their match with Wycombe and declaring Dembele's assist better than Woodyard's despite Channel 5 saying Woodyard's was the best assist of the weekend. Which sparked an interesting topic about L2/NL coverage, which probably wasn't seen by and contributed to by as many people as it would have been in a single match thread.
