I think the thing about you guys is you have a lot of former FL players in your squad which probably makes people think you're paying out more than you are.

Closest I've come to knowing was a couple of months ago when Stuart Hammond(?) in the NLP listed the budget ranges of Conference teams. I think ours was in the £250k–£500k bracket. I'm probably wrong. Part of me pieces together what we end up with and what I hear which tells me we're slightly below average, and part of me sees our bang average crowds in this league, presumes we pay a bit more due to our windfalls, and that tells me we're slightly above. It's not much of a fierce debate with us anyway, all there is to know is that we're prudent and don't get outside investment.

Why do you doubt we are a plc? and when I said all our acounts are online I meant they are all freely available online to anyone who wishes to view them, shareholder or not.

Apologies. The reason I said it was two fold.
One, it is unusual for a company that small to be a plc due to the additional regulatory requirements (for little benefit - most (although admittedly not all) companies become plc to be traded on an exchange)
Two, I thought a while ago that 'new' football companies could not be a plc. Somewhere in my mind I thought Grimsby was one of these 'new' companies, but I had you confused with Hull......sorry ;-) .
As for accounts being available, all limited company accounts are available on line with companies house (although for a fee for the extended version)

I won't go through the squad player by player and say who I think should be kept or shown the door. It is far easier to suggest those who I think have played their last games for us and almost certainly won't be around for the pre-season friendlies, regardless of whether I would like them to stay. There are now a number of players who seem to have been frozen out completely, hence not likely to be staying, these are: Sam Russell, Kieron Forbes, Anthony Barry, Chris Stokes, Luke Oliver and James Norwood. That leaves us with a fairly small squad of maybe 18 or 19 players, several of whom have expiring contracts and one is only with us on loan, so who knows whether they will choose to stay or go.

Was looking forward to working this out but you've pretty much nailed it. I'm still undecided about Arthur mind, and I think Odubade is a good idea if it's financially viable. Says a lot about the quality of the squad that so few people need to be moved on.

So a month and a bit on and time for a slight revaluation.

Chris Arthur - Get rid. Not good enough at LB for this level. Gets forward well but his final ball/cross is often poor. Defensively he loses concentration at key moments. Would like to see him in a more advanced position but he's not going to get that before the end of the season.

Yemi Odubade - Keep. Has showed he's still got it at the age of 30 (?). Him and Rendell is a devastating partnership. I imagine he isn't cheap but with Betsy moving on that'll free up a bit of the wage budget. Whether his form has just been a Murtagh-type contract inspired effort I don't know, hopefully it hasn't been.

Kieran Murtagh - Undecided. Had originally put him down as a 'Get rid' but since then he's got himself fit and has looked the Murtagh of old. Although, given his history, it could well be contract-form. Would like to keep if it means he'll be 100% from August and not March.

I believe we currently have 14 players; Arnold, Coles, Clough, Pipe, Bennett, Kelly, Jennings, Wedgbury, Kamdjo, Sinclair, Barry, Frear, Guthrie, Marwood and Parkin under contact for next season. Of those I would expect Barry to leave though.

Out of contract are, Russell, White, Racine, Oliver, Stokes, Bender, Forbes, Moore and Norwood, with Fleetwood's loan expiring. I would expect to see Racine offered a deal, and also hope Fleetwood is. Unfortunately I can't see Russell or Norwood, who are both players I rate highly, staying. Oliver, Stokes and Forbes have all been completely out of the picture so clearly wont be offered anything. The other 3 are youngsters who might get another chance to impress, it will depend on firstly what division we're in and secondly on whether they would be happy to stay as squad players/cover.

So altogether I expect to see between 13 to 16 of this seasons squad still being around next season, which means we'll probably be looking to bring in a few. How many will depend on which league we're in, but I'm fairly happy with the strong core we already have signed for next year.
