Latics v Newport

[hold'um Oldham]

Clash of the titans. Both teams have had a good start and disregarding the MK game where injuries and the like meant the season started a week too early, we are looking promising.
We still don't look prolific. Still don't look like we are going to create 20 chances a game, but we are converting those chances that come our way which is a good sign.

Biggest thing for us this week is we are missing our 1st choice keeper and Nepo who are away on international duty. Big losses for us as ivesen has been immense so far and won us points on his own. Nepo meanwhile has scored in the last 2.
I'm not overly concerned. The squad should be able to cope given we have the new guy from villa to come into midfield but le paz in goal is an unknown quantity.

I'm still confident, but can't see a clean sheet. I'll go 2-1

 

[Roger Stone]

A tough trip again for us. We have Harris away on international duty who has been our biggest threat up front so far this season. I guess Matt will replace him. Will be a bonus if we get anything out of the game but you never know, got 3 points last week when not at our best.

A tough one to call seeing as we both have a couple of players out due to international call ups I don’t know how it will affect Newport but Iverson has definitely won us points this season so far and Nepomuceno has scored in his s last two so I’m going for a close game with latics just coming out on top

 

[Roger Stone]

We have Semenyo out with concussion. Harris and Foulston are on international duty.

Harris will be missed as he would've started and is playing well. Semenyo may / may not have made an appearance off the bench. Foulston is a youngster and would not have played anyway.

With Harris and Semenyo out we have no cover up front. Amond and Matt will start. Of the 14 who got on the pitch last week we only have Harris missing so it would appear that Oldham will be missing their guys more.

Oldham will win this 3-1 and be back in league 1 next year - Fact !

That was weak today but unfortunately I think that's going to be our season. I said the same after Crawley but we don't create enough. We try to walk the ball in and it's cost us today.

Newport didn't look spectacular but converted one of very few chances. Thought that had 0-0 written all over it for much of the game.

Can't see either team being top 3 come may off today's performance

Think Newport did a job on us today Good away performance from them kept things tight and nicked a goal. Franks was fortunate to stay on the pitch all game linesman and ref missed a stamp on Surridge after he had been booked but onto next week

Keep squeezing out 1-0 wins like that and we'll stay up this season. Flynn is working miracles with a squad that is good on quality but we'll see what the strength in depth is like when the injuries kick in. Oldham looked ok but failed to take their chances. Old Zeus De Let Paz.. great name, great keeper!
