Stockport County.
What was the deal with Hinchliffe in his early career? He's clearly an excellent keeper so how did he end up in the regional leagues? Or was it one of those times when a player just needs to find his home- he's always been brilliant for Stockport whenever we played you
I don't know exactly why he dropped to part time so quickly. He was a youth goalie at Preston and Derby etc and wasn't a million miles off being a number 2 or 3 at clubs like that so I'd imagine he made a conscious career decision to go Part time (he was a truck driver) and stay North West based in his clubs.

He's been a legend for us and I don't think he's finished yet. Two year contract to theoretically* be a great number 2 keeper and I would imagine we would look after him with coaching roles etc if that's the route he wants to go down. He's a great story. Hopefully he can stay full time with us and in football for a fair few more years, he deserves it.

*- I say theorteically, don't rule him out getting back between the sticks before the season is out. Addai has a dropped bollock or two in him to me and the fans will be quick to want Hinchliffe back in. He's seen a few keepers offs in his time here, including Vit Jaros who made his Premier League debut last Saturday for Liverpool.

The glamorous lure of being a Truck driver tbh that probably speaks volumes for his character, in a good way.

No that’s Steve Bruce, despite the fact Cloughie tactically made him look like a binman.

Poor bruce looked like a beaten man last saturday after 60 minutes, bless him.

"The team that can arguably feel hardest done by though is bottom-place Cambridge United. Garry Monk’s side have just one point from nine games, which is a massive 10 fewer than they should have. If they had the 11 points the expected points table believes they should, Cambridge would be up in 16th."

Look, that's great lads, but did you really have to tell our board that first?!

Nothing new here, we've been needing investment for a while. But seems the wheels are in motion for it.

I remember when you got promoted from L2 you did it assembling a squad on big wages, but not many fees I seem to remember - is this a case of the current owners not willing to put enough in to kick on now?

Also what is Bazza charging to use the stadium? I thought it was a bigger capacity than 9500.

The current owners are only willing to put in so much and have done for a while, enough to assemble a team to get out of League Two, but no further. Which in truth has always been our limit.

Barry I think charges £300k IIRC a year on rent for the stadium, its slowly gone up over time.

In truth we need a new stadium and its Hearns fault ultimately why, as he's built all the flats on the current one. All those who warned about him all those years ago were ultimately right.

I suppose it’s one of those odd scenarios where you’re at the mercy of these guys, i can’t recall but i remember the previous owners not being so clever? (sorry if not the case)

Addai only really become a football league keeper in the last six months he was with us. When I first saw him he was just some bloke who played in goal because he couldn't get a game on the pitch.

He has honestly came on in leaps and bounds. What he needs to do next is stop passing to players sprinting towards him with an opposition player right up their jacksies.

I was still undecided about him when he left but he has bags of potential. He aint a kid in life but he is in football played terms.

There's a decent one a tube stop away, you could always bid for that.
We too have constrained ourselves by building flats behind our stand, in our case it was the only way developers would fund the new stand.

We couldnt have really done much with that space anyway. You couldnt build the big bank backwards any more because you'd just be too far from the pitch. Our only real option is to move to a completely different location. Nobody wants to leave the city centre but there are basically no other brownfield sites that are big enough in the city. I'd rather we played in our tiny stadium than move to a soulless out of town bowl like Reading, Notlob or Franchise.

Are the rugby club (I'm sure there's many reason it wouldn't be a goer) in a "soulless out of town" stadium? I mean I know you see it from the motorway, but I don't know it's full Colchester for depressing remote new stadiums?

I’ve been to exeter chiefs a few times (not sure if can still call them that as some wanky knob got offended by them being called the chiefs so obviously everyone had to bow down to that person) and the ground had great facilities - especially within the ground - it’s a decent set up.

It's crap. One nice big stand and three average ones, two big areas of terracing though still neither are like the Big Bank.
Very good conference facilities though..

Sandy Park is a feckin' dump. The only thing worth going to Digby for is the new Ikea.

Ain't nowt like the big bank TBF. Hoping we get something similar if/when our NRE is redeveloped.

Wrexham fans, how many internationals do you have? Because we've got a couple of U21s for Scotland and R. Ireland who, after tonight's results, won't be partaking in next month's playoffs, thus we won't necessitate next month's game at EP being postponed.

Mendy for Gambia, and thats about it. No danger of us having any internationals at the moment.

I was racking my brain why you’ve got a hard on for Christy Pym, I completely forgot he played for you.

It’s a shame Whitworth is not a Exeter player, he will be difficult to replace for you guys next season. I do not like loaning goalkeepers, continuity is important in that aspect in my opinion.

Before Pym we had Nathan Bishop on loan from Manchester United, who I see is now at Wycombe on loan.

He was a good keeper, thought he’d go higher.

He got a good deal at Sunderland, Pym is definitely better than Bishop mind, but he is only 25 so could surpass him yet.

We have had loanee keepers for a number of seasons and they've been great. We had Dawson when he was at Sheffield Wednesday, he was a big part of our promotion, and Sinisalo last season who was excellent, and many still think he is better than Whitworth (and possibly Schmeichel at Celtic).
The one time we did sign our own keeper we had Blackman, who hasn't done that great since he left.

Yeah I’m not saying it cannot work, but it means trying to get it right every single season if they turn out to be good because they end up going elsewhere.

Nothing worse than a shite #1 keeper, and if you’ve got it right now for a few seasons a good chance one will come along before you know it!
