Don’t you just wish for once that you were not treated like a stepping stone and players came to your club because they thought they could progress up the leagues with your club. They don’t see it as a long term plan. If you’re chairman was deadly serious he would say for one season right your staying. Marriott would then go for 15m in the league above. So yes whoopee doo that your club generates lots of money but you are not a market stall you are a football club

Good point...and yes I do...but our chairman will never stand in the way of a player going because a) on crowds of 4-6k we cannot afford too and b) why stand in a players way and have an unhappy player sitting in the stands sulking?

Normally people say fitness, so I'm curious to know what you mean by his health?
He had Pericarditis last season which cut short his loan spell at Newport. Not as serious as it sounds as it heals completely with rest and has been given all clear to carry on playing.

Anyone with a bit more information on Duane Holmes? Is he better centrally or outwide? The only reason I ask is because I'm not entirely sure where he fits in, much more chance if he's going to play centrally as he could be direct cover for Mount.

I've heard good things, but no idea where he plays & whether the Championship is a big step up for him?
He’s much better centrally, one of the most talented players I’ve ever seen play at Scunny.

He will probs start off a bit slow if he’s playing on the bench but once given a run in the side he will flourish. He is different gravy.

Jesus, glad to hear he's ok now though

Great! I imagine that he'll initially struggle to get on the bench, the joys of having the biggest squad in the football league, but he'll probably get the game against Oldham & play a bit for our u23 side. It seems like he'll be cover for Mason Mount, so any injuries to him & he'll go straight into the starting XI as we don't really have anyone else for that one position.

Don't know whether it has been picked up on here yet, but apparently Sunderland had a bid rejected by Sheffield United on deadline day for Billy Sharp!

Its a tricky one. I expect players do come because they wont be stopped from making that big move and if you did then you might not get them in the first place

Signed trialist Luca Colville on an initial 1 year deal.

Released from Huddersfield in the summer, had a trial at Forest (from what I can recall) - midfielder - squad filler.

Supposedly close to signing Krystian Bielik on loan from Arsenal.

Please tell me something good tiltontrev El Guapo because what I’ve read so far doesn’t inspire me at all. Lack of games and injuries.

Looked quite decent when he did play. He stood out during that horrendous run under Zola. Wouldn’t mind having him back now as cover for Morrison & Harlee Dean.

Thought it was an excellent signing for Walsall when they got him on loan. Was surprised he never played for them, don’t know if he was injured or what.

That’s more like it, cheers. I imagine he’ll only be used as cover here.

Think I read he was injured for a lot of last season and had to have surgery on a shoulder.

Looks like we are trying to re-sign Jimmy Dunne (Defender) on loan from Burnley.

Fingers crossed.

Yep was the invisible man. Signed him when he was injured, he did like one or two training sessions and then injured himself again for the whole season.

Another classic Jon Whitney signing.

Its not really that tricky.

We get small crowds and as such limited revenue. We buy a player for around 200k-500k and then sell em on for millions.

People argue that it is just the chairmans money that enables the initial purchase...6-7 years ago that was the case, but after receiving near on 24m from a handful of players during that time, that initial outlay is easily affordable within the realms of a solvent club.

I am pleased we have this policy as I would hate the stress of being one of these clubs whose fans run around with begging buckets every few years.

Bobbin' Agree with EG, stand out player under Zola, wouldn’t have been against having him back, injuries have prevented him being a regula top half championship defender imo.

Do you not still owe the chairmen a vast sum then? And what about the ground ownership?

and the players they spend "£200-500k" on that don't go for millions..

But none of that matters because it doesn't fit his perfect Posh agenda.

Wouldn't even bother.

Erm, what did Mavididi do at your place to earn a move to Juve??

Scored a few goals. Ran the entire length of the pitch taking on the entire Rochdale side before missing the shot and got injured twice. That’s really about it.

Honestly, I have no idea.

We are apparently signing Millwall Central Midfielder Ben Thompson on loan. Never heard of him. Not first choice at Millwall.

Tenacious type of midfield player I think, remember playing against them a couple of years back and he was probably the best player on the park. Maybe a case of the Championship being a step too much? (Although that game was in the Championship).*

Know he’s popular with fans but that may be just because he’s a Millwall fan himself.

*No it wasn’t. It was the year they were promoted.

I think he got an injury and dropped down the pecking order a bit

Would make sense then. Presumably, Jackett will know what he’s about from his time at Millwall.

Another good signing is my hunch. Think Pompey will be around the top 6 come the end of this season.

Pretty much as described, hard working little bastard of a player. Scores a few goals but doesn't look overly elegant. Was around the first team before we went up, but then Saville and Tunnicliffe came in and he dropped down a bit. Only 22, so got youth on his side.

Think you'll take to him, he's the sort of player supporters tend to like as he clearly cares, works damn hard and both gives and takes a bit of a kicking. Hope he does well.
