Hmm well that doesn’t sound great

We did get relegated as pre-season title favourites. So the problem is probably us.

I guess that he’s one of those players who is great when all is going well but downs tools as soon as it isn’t.

To be fair it isn’t like we don’t need them. Still only have one striker on the books too.

Tom Eaves still not made his mind up yet?

I have no idea what’s happening with him, at the end of the season he said he wasn’t staying but it doesn’t appear anyone’s picked him up. Surprised he hasn’t ended up at a lower end championship club.

We've signed Left Back Rhys Norrington-Davies on a season's loan from Sheffield United. Is a Wales U21 International, so must have something about him, like a granny from Beddgelert. Played for Barrow in the National League last season. Might be decent -anyone know about him??

He was brilliant for us. Joined with no fanfare at all, and was a contender for player of the season. Good defensively, but his real assets are driving forward and putting in a cross. If he's given playing time, he should be easily good enough for League 1.

I would love to see him at Fleetwood, on the face of it him and Madden would make a formidable partnership, but yes he would easily make the grade into the Championship, one can only dream ......

Sold 20-year-old full-back Tony Sibbick to Barnsley for rumoured £300K after only 20 first-team appearances. Looking likely that Steve Seddon who came in on loan at left-back from Birmingham last season will join permanently. Tremendous signing, if so. Really important to us staying up last year. Centre forward also in this week, according to Downes at this evening's meet the manager Q&A.

Apparently a marquee signing fell through yesterday for us. We've been linked with Leon Clarke - I hope it's not him as Clarke-Harris & Clarke would be unbelievable upfront.

Holmes-Dennis has picked up a really bad knee injury, the club have sent him home. He might retire which is absolutely devastating. Either way it's unlikely we'll see him this season.

Clarke-Harris picked up a groin injury & will miss most of pre-season which is a worry for fitness. Plus one of our wingers sent a photo of him in hospital with a cast/wrapping around his leg.

We've gone from being very optimistic and a strong summer off the pitch to very quickly being worried

Pompey aren’t looking too good imo. We need a marquee signing.. c’mon, splash a bit of cash!

Not sure I agree, FP.

I think we've covered the loss of Clarke with Raggett and Downing (although neither is likely to be quite as good, admittedly). We've covered the loss of Thompson with James Bolton. We've brought in Harrison and Williams to bolster the attack. Cannon and Morris should finally be available for midfield after pre-season, Close will only improve.

I suppose if Lowe does go then we would probably look to bring someone else in as a replacement.

This is a squad that got 88 points last season, which would have got us promoted most seasons. Marquee signings aren't easy in League One.

I just think our defence is a lot weaker (admittedly i’m not too clued up about the CB’s we’ve signed), and Harrison and Williams have hardly lit up the league, or done anything of note before. As The News said, just have to hope Curtis comes back to form.

Gutted for him.

Showed so much promise, thought he was going to go on and have decent career in at least the championship if not higher.

Hope he can recover and play again at some level.

Williams played 40 times for Rotherham in the championship last season and Harrison, although didnt make it at Ipswich must have shown something for Ipswich to pay 750k for him. Also Downing was part of Blackburns team who got promoted to the championship. Harrison , Raggett and Downing have all been long term targets of Kenny. I fully back his judgement his signings. Not many of his summer recruits have been duds

How did Bury seem to have so many best players in the league but not win it?

Murphy is a good solid keeper but he wasnt the best last season in my opinion.

Because we had more (PFA Team of the Year).
Exactly my point.

Every time I see a Bury player mentioned it seems to be they were "the best in the league" etc, which is also strange as they were abysmal in L1 previously

If we had paid the players when we had a wobble we might have done.
Then again as the rest of the league had given up the ghost the Imps might not have decided to coast the last few games!!

If we could have been bothered to do defence (we just could not be arsed) we may have run then close, however, it would have been a tad less exciting.
