I thought he was joking - why would Carlisle be paying £10k a week to a player who was at Grimsby last season and been without a club since?

He was Grimsby's best player last season but they could not afford his wages, I hear that Bolton and Derby were determined for his signature but we blew them both away with our offer.

Doubt we wanted him, already had him when we never had a pot to piss in and he was ok at best........Would not even get on the bench now

Perhaps we've made a mistake in signing a player who would not even get on the bench of a team we easily brushed aside and would love to play every week.

We’ve signed right back Josh Emmanuel.

With both our right backs out injured, it’s a necessary signing. Hopefully he’ll be useful.
He’s fucking brilliant, wait till you see him play.
Has an awkward look about him but then before you know it he’s got past 3 or 4 players and still got the ball and about to put a cross in.
He was way too good to be playing in League 2 and I suspect the same may be said for League 1.
Great signing for you.

Sounds promising!

Better than the usual 'Awful player, the worst we've ever had, glad he's gone' sort of comments we get from other fans when asking about a previous player of theirs.

Agree he has a very awkward running style..........Did ok for us as stated before, though it was the season we dropped from lge 1 to lge2 and nearly went out of business
A lot worse than him that season, but we as a club are miles ahead of the team he played in.
Hope it works out for him

Rumours are that we're after a 'baddy' striker who has always been sharp in the box and is a free agent of Championship quality.

No chance.

Just think about it from his point of view. Why would he?

 And you think he couldn’t get 4 or 5 times what we could offer him from a low end championship top end league 1 club.

Honestly, these people are wealthy but there is a thing called salary cap. We aren’t going to pay championship salaries even if we can.

Surely its Gary Madine.

Not sure on the sharp in the box part, but he's certainly a tosser.

Madine is currently out injured, recovering from an ACL. January at the earliest he’ll be ready apparently.

I'm just joking but there is still a daft rumour about it, but yes I'd honestly rather us go about things sensibly than splash crazy amounts on big wages and transfer fees.

A few names being bandied around at the moment. Not convinced that there's much truth in them... Brandon Barker is the latest name being quoted - Sharp, Connor Wickham, Matty Longstaff, and Robert Snodgrass also doing the rounds today...

They will, and they are. Watch their bbc interview today. So positive, they are going to build the club properly and invest the money wisely getting value for money.

Simmo has already ruled out Longstaff due to his current injury. Think he said it on radio cumbria

Yes I saw it too and I have to say I was impressed with what was said, so let's hope it all goes to plan.

If we could at least become a club like say Rotherham or Peterborough who are both around our size, always competitive when in L1, have good infrastructure and run well then I would be really delighted with that.

Of those names, I can't imagine Wickham would be too far off. He was at FGR last season, and they fell to bits once he left.

Cole Stockton to either Carlisle or Stevenage is being mentioned in the national press.

If we can get him reasonably cheap then fair enough because it's a bit of a gamble considering he only seems to score loads of goals for Morecambe, but nowhere else he's been at.

But would be a good signing still.

Hadn't Brandon Barker pretty much given the game up? He'll do something brilliant and then disappear for the that and the next few games. Have a good defensive full back behind him as he didn't do defensive when he was with us.

Suggestions that both Cardiff and Swansea are looking at taking Marc Leonard on loan. I was shocked he came back to us on loan from Brighton this season, he was fantastic at L2 level and assumed he would take the step up above us this summer.

He has been class for us once again and is clearly destined for a career at the championship at the very least. Would be a huge blow to us but he has already given us 18 months of quality play so wouldnt blame him for moving on his career.

We've signed free agent left back Joe Bennett on a short term deal as cover for Greg Leigh who is rumoured to be out for 5/6 weeks after getting injured whilst playing for Jamaica.

I know nothing about him other than the stats I can see online.

Could do a job for us, but it appears that we are below both in the pecking order :-(
