Another player who’s been mentioned is Joe Taylor from Luton who’s been recalled from his loan at Colchester. Scored 12 goals in 27 so would be a decent signing.

You can’t have him - having signed Lyle Taylor and Dale Taylor as strikers, we need Joe to complete the trio.

Seems like one player is coming in this week. Most likely is attacking midfielder Luke Harris on loan from Fulham who we were supposed to sign on the summer deadline but the deal was never completed. Seems a #highlyrated chap but can’t feel we need more experienced players.

Joe Taylor on our radar as well apparently, alot of clubs in this league will want him.

We have Kyle Taylor already and there is a two Taylor limit so he's ours

quite possibly bullshit podcast rumour of being in for ex-Pompey Ronan Curtis.

He left PFC after being offered a far worse contract than what he'd previously been on, after recovering from an ACL injury.

Curtis would be a good signing if he's recovered from his ACL injury. Scores plenty cutting in from the left and hitting it with his right. A very feisty competitor who loves a tussle with his opposing full back.

I think our recruitment team had just moved on to other options and he didn't really fit in with the plan. Most fans would have been happy for him to sign back on but the club sent him a different message.

Andy Crosby as good as confirmed that Tom Conlon and Lewis Cass will be offski during this window. Not even making the bench ahead of 16 year olds from the academy is a sign their futures would lie elsewhere. As I say in the case of Conlon I’d expect Cheltenham to be favourites to sign him with DC there. Unfortunately not quite recovered to the point he was at pre-achilles injury.
I get the Conlon link, but I'm not sure how much we need another defensive midfielder (assuming he is a defensive midfielder).

Cass as a right-sided defender is someone who must be on our radar though given that's a position we really need.

He can do either a holding or attacking role. His very best performances pre-injury in our promotion year he played in a more advanced role with Pett sitting in. It was only last season we played him a bit more defensively but he showed signs that psychologically at least he still wasn’t right after his injury.

As for Cass I like him and could see his versatility appealing but think he’s struggled a bit at L1 level and maybe a step back to L2 might be his best bet.

I've heard we've put a bid in for JCH, how much it is, I don't know. But can't see it being what Posh want. Would have to absolutely smash our record transfer to even get anywhere near it.

As been mentioned, have seen Luke Harris & Will Evans spoken about.

Had a scout at Woking v Aldershot yesterday too looking at Lorent Tolaj & Josh Stokes from the Shots, who have scored 10 & 12 respectively. Also get a personal scout for them as my ex-wife is an Aldershot fan.

You'd argue Conlon is the same, a great League Two footballer but not at L1, especially with him being so one footed in a central position.

Cass I never felt DC rated him massively, would Conlon improve Cheltenham? I am not so sure based on last season.

MacAnthony said on Twitter (usual caveats around at Posh when it comes to bullshit...!) that Charlton's latest bid for JCH was £450k and it had been turned down.

We have four central midfielders rotating in a three at the moment in Sercombe, Pett, Thompson and Bonds. Pett and Thompson are seemingly never quite match-fit (Pett has an excuse of no pre-season) and Bonds is always liable to an injury, so I suspect Conlon makes sense as it's another pair of legs and, more importantly, an experienced pair of legs. Sercs is also the only really attack-minded player of the four.

Regarding Cass, we need a back up on the right side of defence. We currently have Liam Smith and Sean Long who can both play rcb and rwb. One injury will do for us in that position though, so again, it may make sense. Especially as DC brought in Cass at Vale.

As JCH nearly went for £800k in the summer, you’d have to assume that Peterborough would want in the region of £500-600k now. And not to mention he’s probably on massive money, so I think this is surely a complete non starter.

I’d be extremely keen on the two lads at Aldershot. Yes, it’s a couple of steps down but both have had fantastic seasons so far. And you’d imagine we could afford them unless Aldershot want silly money.

Rumour is Harrogate for Cass, one factor may be that he has tweeted his lady is pregnant so may be moving back towards his North East roots. He's a decent player but not great at this level, frustratingly we've not played him or Conlon for the past month or two despite being fully fit and us having 9 games in a month! Note we now have mass injuries and are throwing youth players in.

Pett seems to be doing well which is great, he is a top lad and was a decent player for us, was a surprise we let him go, but obviously we had Conlon under contract so he was the one we had to release and we then signed Arblaster and Devine (all be it Blaster has now gone).

Will wish TC the best if/when he goes. has been a great servant and in L2 became an outstanding player for us, sadly he was injured for half the promotion season and missed the final but literally bleeds Vale, his Great Great Grandad played for us around WWI and think his Grandad was keeper in the 50's as well so has a lot of links to us.

His goal V Barrow is one to google as well, unreal.

Yeah, I think the JCH one is bull, he'd just demand too much money for what we can afford. Good to dream though!

We could do much, much worse than the two Aldershot lads. Like you say, big jump, but could be worth a punt. Although Sunderland and Norwich both keeping tabs on Stokes too.

That makes sense on Cass.

Pett has been outstanding - we said on the pod last week that it blows the mind he was a free agent in October.

We were incredibly close to signing Pett but we were concerned about his fitness. Given we signed tons of crocks under Artell and a couple under Morris, I can see why the club didn't go through with it. Especially given almost our entire midfield is injured at the moment one way or another.

Aye Petts missus plays for Man United women’s team so think it had narrowed down somewhat the clubs he’d have initially gone to in the North West or that vicinity. Knew he’d spoken to Crewe and if I remember rightly Tranmere too but nothing came of it. Think once DC got a job back in football following him would always then be another option.

Considering we have no fit strikers I would suspect we'd be interested in Joe Taylor as well.

We apparently turned him down in the summer as well.

Either way, he's now signed on for the rest of the season and all but one of our loanees has now returned to their respective clubs and Nathan Butler-Oyedeji is only staying because our deal with Arsenal means we're stuck with him.

7 loanees and only Owen Bevan was any good - he wouldn't be going back but has suffered a nasty injury. He may come back at the end of January, depending on how his recovery is going.

Richard Kone, who's been banging them in at Athletic Newham, way down in the 11th tier, has just signed for us.

Insert your own joke about us preparing for non-league here, but worth a punt and let's see how he does.

We had him on trial for pre-season last year and he was really very impressive, but work permit issues meant that we weren't able to sign him when we tried to. It will be interesting to see how he gets on, his goal record in the Senior League was outrageous.

With JCH I just don't think it's worth trying unless you're a promotion contender who thinks this is the move that gets you over the line. Outside of that you're spending circa £500k minimum plus no doubt very high wages on someone who is almost 30 so very little in the way of resale value down the line. Add in it seems to be like pulling teeth out to do a deal with Fry and MacAnthony.

I dont overly get why Posh are looking to move him on, do they have that over 30 thing with contracts still? but in a promotion charge you'd think they'd want him to get over the line.

I believe they automatically transfer list anyone who is in the final year of their deal which I get. I guess they work on the premise it only takes one club to be desperate enough to give them what they want. Problem will be lets say it's Fleetwood what's to say he would want to go there and instead sit on his contract and cash in as a free agent? If I was to place a bet I will say he'll still be a Peterborough player at the end of the window or Bristol Rovers maybe come back with a last minute bid.

To be fair we have done plenty of deals with them over the years, usually going the other way. Maybe we could just persuade them to cancel a few of the Archie Collins instalments..

Matt Taylor doesnt seem interested in JCH from what we have heard from Barry Fry, the interest in the last window was all from Barton. Oh well we need some pace up top anyway..

Seems we're close to signing a L1 midfielder on a permanent but another club is also interested. My guess is Tom Conlon from Vale but do any other L1 clubs have CMs they're offloading this window?
