Sounds like things are going to start moving for us with a couple coming in over the next few days - but not necessarily a striker.

Local lad Sam Clucas was linked about a week ago, which I didn't take much notice of because I wouldn't say it's a position we need another body in but he's been at a couple of our recent games, including on Tuesday night. He did say when he left in 2008 that he wanted to play for us before he retired. Recently moved back to Lincoln as well.

Skubala said he wants more experience, which I can understand on the front line but I think 'experience' is code for 'quality' in other areas because in defence and midfield we've got players who've played hundreds of games even though they're not old in age.

Clucas confirmed on a deal until the end of the season with an option for a further year.

Probably an element of sentiment given that he used to be a season ticket holder and pretty much all of his family follow us home and away. Can't believe it's been nearly 15 years since Chris Sutton released him but I suspect even at 34 he's still going to have better quality in the final third than some of our younger lads.

hmmmm not sure about that one, got loads of ability but seems a odd fit for Lincoln.

Yeah, does a bit both in terms of age profile (that's two over 30's we've signed this season after only really signing 18-24 for several previous ones) and also position wise (midfield is arguably our strongest area).

The only thing I can't think of is that we're going to play him in the more attacking left hand side channel of our midfield three because Bayliss, injured, and Moylan, questionable final ball/decision making, haven't been able to nail it down.

But to be honest, it's been that long since Clucas with was us that I can't even remember much about him and what type of midfielder he is aside from being left footed.

EDIT - strong midfield in terms of ability if not assists and/or goals.

He was pretty decent for us last year in the Championship, when not injured.
SE said he wanted to sign him but the deal broke down on wage demands.

I guess he thinks he needs to lower his expectations on the money front after no-one else came in for him?

Living locally will definitely help you'd think.

He's recently been playing for Oldham in the NL presumably to keep ticking over, with a clause in his contract to be able to leave if an EFL club came in for him.

We've rejected a £230k bid from Walsall for striker Freddie Draper.

since when do Walsall have that sort of money, also that’s a very good offer for Draper.
