Sam Nombe to Rotherham confirmed for a ‘significant undisclosed fee’, which breaks their transfer record.

Good luck to him. He gave everything, even when there was a lot of interest in him. Hope he smashes it!
I like how they added 'significant' to undisclosed fee as to make out you didnt get mugged

There's nobody more surprised than me that we have paid a 7 figure fee.

He comes across really well in his interview, which was done yesterday morning. God knows why it took so long to announce.

He seems to have a great regard for both Exeter as a club, his former team-mates and Matt Taylor, he's a credit to your club.

Naturally I hope he does really well and earns you a big sell on fee.

If Hanlan's off (and all indications are that way) then it looks like we're in for our ex-striker Uche Ikpeazu, who is a free agent and was actually pretty good for us in our one season in the Championship.

Strangely he's kind of like a better version of Hanlan, an awkward, gangly physical striker with some pace...except his finishing's better than Hanlan's. Both are crap in the air though...

His career has floundered a bit since he left us to be fair, which is probably the only reason he'd be prepared to drop into League One, but I think he could do some damage at this level.

Sky Sports reporting he's having a medical with us today.

If all this comes off, a rare bit of good business for us.

Ikpeazu was originally sold for an undisclosed fee but rumoured to be north of 500k.

We bought Hanlan for 150k

We're shipping out Hanlan for 300k, and getting Ikpeazu back on a free.

Feels like a both a coup and a bit of a risk signing at the same time. Given our lack lustre start to the season, there's instantly a lot riding on him to suddenly turn us into an attacking force.

Could be a key player for us if he remains fit, but feel a little deflated that here we are again relying on loans to be the missing ingredient after making so many permanent signings, and previously being told that loans were only there to top up the squad.
I feel the same about this. We've been solid at the back but our lack of creativity in midfield and attack has increasingly become a worry.

Last season we really suffered from so many draws and the signs have been there that we were heading the same way. Was really hoping that the permanent signings would be at the forefront of fixing this. Fingers crossed this one works out.

Dropped a clanger with Al-Hamadi by the look of it though. Barnsley and Posh already had bids turned down for him

Yeah, he's turned out to be a highly-valued player, but he just didn't fit into our system under Ainsworth, and I was absolutely fine with letting him go, as he hadn't really showed much potential.

He was restricted to cameo appearances only though, usually when we were chasing the game, which is not the best environment to come into.

He did OK on loan to Bromley the season before he left, as well, but didn't like totally tear it up or anything.

Pleased that it's come good for the lad though, he has quite the backstory.

Anyway, we apparently have a decent sell-on, so I would say we've done OK out of it.

Andy Crosby confirmed there’s interest in Ellis Harrison from various clubs. If the price is right and we can source a reasonable replacement I’d let him go. I like him but to be honest especially with us playing one up top he feels a little redundant now.

Yeah you have to feel for the lad. Imagine going from Iraq to Toxteth! - It happens though as we did similar with Bobby Zamora.

Salop boss has predicted a 'crazy' 24 hours of the transfer window.

He added: "I expect it to be an extremely busy 24 hours.

"What that looks like right now will change, but there will be activity before 11pm tomorrow and there will definately be some changes at the club.

"What that will look like I don't known, but I am expecting a crazy 24 hours."

The above was written in the Shropshire Star in the last half hour. Sounds like we’re expecting outgoings as well as incomings. Desperately need another LWB as well as a midfielder or two and possibly a striker (James Collins only) now that Shipley is out for 3 months.

Been told that there’s interest from League 1 & 2 clubs in both Tom Flanagan and Ryan Bowman.

We've coped without him all be it i think he is the perfect "Type" of striker for this role being a physical striker.

He had missed a fair few games since signing though and if he wants to move closer to home and we get a fee and replacement then I have no issue and wish him well.

No truth in our interest in JCH which is what I suspected, unfortunately. It does sound like we will be taking Will Vaulks off Wednesday before tomorrow though. A player who played his best football under Warne, one who has recently just played a key role in promotion with Sheffield Wednesday.

I like him. He's a player that adds energy, gets himself about and has no problem putting his foot in. I think Warne may have hinted at him a week ago when he said he wanted a CM who could cover RB - Vaulks has done that previously.

Not sure where his home is now as he has spread himself far and wide in recent years. Might follow his snakey mate to FGR

Edit - someone on our forum seems to think you are the club signing Loft

Fully expect at least one today and then more to come in tomorrow. Still rumours of Harris, Morton and Cardwell being thrown about.
And now Will Evans at Newport, and Muskwe on loan from Luton

the ryan loft to vale thing made a lot of sense all summer i think so not surprised we're being named as one of the clubs in for him. not the exciting proven L1 (£500k+) striker many vale fans will want but i think i can see how he fits into a crosby squad. if we're getting decent money for harrison and paying less for loft then lets go for it I say.

He is the right type of striker and fits into the system, doesn't seem to get many goals (must have got about 25% against us as he always seems to have scored against us for various clubs!

I would still like one more striker maybe on top but wouldn't be a bad one in our system.

Blimey good luck getting a proven L1 goalscorer for £500k, especially looking at the prices being banded around for the likes of Mehmeti Hanlan, Armstrong and Nombe..3 of which arent even proven in L1

I think it's going to be a nice and quiet deadline day for us in Lincoln. I think if we can, we'll try and get a wide player in on loan but I think that's only if an A* loan becomes available - there's been zero rumours on this.

The window on the whole has been really positive. We've shifted to a core of permanent players rather than loans which we've had since returning to the football league. I think we've two loans which leaves us with a core of developing our own.

We'll probably be running with one of the smallest and youngest squads in L1 but at least they're ours and it's the small squad which will bite and we'll definitely need to be lucky on the injury front. It's a fine balance but I'd rather not have players sat in the stands and picking up a wage.

If we do sign Loft the only good thing I’d take is hopefully if Wilson and Thomas stay fit we won’t have to see him much. Not for me this one.

Bobbin' & folletto ... what did you make of Liam Millar when he was with you?

Seems we might be signing him from Basel.

We have 55 pages on potentially signing JCH yet there is no shred of evidence we are even in talks with him/Posh.
Our record transfer fee paid is £370k from 1992 yet there is talk of us offering £800k. no chance

rumours all be it only that was that Wrexham offered 500k for Ellis! If we didnt go with that as wanted a replacement I would be steaming though!

That £500k someone quoted cannot be right as we’d have surely snapped their hands off. I think quoting Wrexham is just a lazy way to link a player with a move away without any real substance behind it. I know they’ve just spent on the Wycombe fella but outside of that they’ve been relatively quiet in this window and don’t see that changing with a day to go.

Like i say just a rumour but if true and we've missed out because of waiting for a replacement especially when hes been kept out the team anyway makes no sense.

Not to downbeat if Loft comes in, his goal to minutes ratio paints a better picture than goals to games and as you say we've got Thomas and Willo, (plus look at Sodje and Pope stats before they came) would still like another striker though all be it if we are playing the system we are we could go with just the three + Massey as back up if desperate.

At this rate we’ll have 6 new strikers! Like the idea of Muskwe though, and Evans for that matter.

Muskwe was decent for us, not super-prolific but we may well not have played him in a way that best set him up to score, as we were so focused on the "big man up front" thing back then.

A good player but certainly not like for like for Nombe, I wouldn't have said.
