Sort of - A few year back we signed John Joe O’Toole as a free agent initially month by month basis, he played centre back for us and was unbelievable for the rest of the season, only problem is we had to give him a three year deal as Doncaster who were in a L1 relegation battle offered him that.

He spent the next two seasons injured all the time then shipped out on loan to AFC Wimbledon.

we signed Steve Fletcher last season after deadline day, and whilst he picked up a few injuries, he scored some crucial goals and was a good player to have on your bench for the last 20 minutes of a game.

that is literally all we need as we are down to 2 and a half fit strikers plus untested youth - as you witnessed tuesday, they wouldnt have scored no matter how long the game went on

also rumours of another midfielder coming in after we lost George Evans for a long period of time and need cover for Dobson who is a walking red card and will no doubt need a rest at some point. Matty James has been mentioned

Kevin Lisbie is a good example for us, signed on a free outside of the window after we fell a bit short up front back in September 2011. Probably the best striker in my time I’ve seen us have.

We signed Dom Ball who was at Ipswich last season outside of the window this year and whilst he is still getting up to speed, he has been quite good for us. If he stays fit for us there is no way he will be with us next season, should really be playing for one on the leagues bigger clubs IMO.

We’ve signed Nesta Guinness-Walker on a free as we’ve got something like 7 left backs out injured and he’s easily the best. Class pickup so far.

Looks like we're signing midfielder Matty James on a free. Was at Leicester for years and then Bristol City last few seasons, helps cover a few problems we've got in midfield.

Just signed free agent Tyreece John-Jules. Ex Arsenal but never played. Been on loan at Lincoln, Donny and Ipswich.

His record says he is a one goal in four striker but it's hard to say with youngsters as they tend to play as subs and such

We signed Chris Martin on a free and he didnt do too badly, although that was late September not this late!

We also signed Antony Evans late Aug in 2021 following his release by SC Paderborn

Jid Okeke, who's been doing well at Sth Shields; can only presume we've got a side at a better level lined up.

Jack Stretton, not been getting games at Oldham, I still think he could be useful off the bench for us at this level so struggle to believe he isn't good enough for the VNL, even if Oldham are top-heavy. Mellon Snr probably did it to get his son some time with us, the sneaky Scotch prick.
