Signed TJ Eyoma on a short term deal due to our injury crisis. Lincoln fans what’s he like?
Weird one, TJ.

Had an excellent loan spell here from Spurs, then we signed him permanently in the summer. He got Covid and never looked the same player, he seemed knackered after 20 minutes or so and was really sluggish. His career has probably settled down now and he's capable at RB and CB without being outstanding at either IMO. At RB, he doesn't offer anything going forward because he hasn't got the stamina to get up and down the pitch, end product or technical attributes to to that. At CB, he's defensively capable, it's probably his favoured position but you couldn't pin down what his best attributes is.

I'm surprised he didn't get sorted with a Club quicker than he has, mind. I thought he'd either get a lower third L1 gig at best or have some decent L2 interest and get sorted in pre-season.

Yep agree with Luke here, when we first had him here, TJ looked outstanding and I never thought we would get him back as there were rumours about other clubs being in for him. Then when we signed him he never really scaled those same heights again also with the odd error in him, as a lot of defenders can do. I think though given a decent run of games and if he is more settled he should be an ok signing, he is a decent bloke so I hope he does well for you.

Cheers both, we’re in ‘beggars can’t be choosers’ territory so a competent lower league 1 defender I’ll take

Not be long before they’ve had enough of him. Even his best mate Darragh had to let go because he wanted too many players!

First departure is a member of staff rather than player - Assistant Head Coach Chris Cohen has moved to Stoke. That'll be a blow because in his 5 months here he seemed to be a very good coach with plenty of higher league experience both playing and coaching.

We seem to do fairly well out of compensation for staff members moving up the leagues!
Cohen returned last week after his brief stint at Stoke under Schumacher, which is a good move by us. Shows how highly rated he is when we replaced him in the summer but the Board have still sanctioned his return (although we're probably paying him initially with the compensation he got us ).

We've recalled a couple of loanees.

Jid Okeke, who's been doing well at Sth Shields; can only presume we've got a side at a better level lined up.

Jack Stretton, not been getting games at Oldham, I still think he could be useful off the bench for us at this level so struggle to believe he isn't good enough for the VNL, even if Oldham are top-heavy. Mellon Snr probably did it to get his son some time with us, the sneaky Scotch prick.
From what I've seen of the highlights of Rochdale v Blackburn U21s, Jid is a useful player. Cheers!

We've extended the contract of Ade Adeyemo to 2026.
Forward (scored at Cambridge this season) mostly used off the bench. Decent player. Happy with this.

Crawley have agreed to terminate the contract of Scot Malone. No reason given

I was told a rumour of why but it was not in any way a reliable source so before anyone asks 'I don't know'.

Anyone who calls himself 'Scotty' is a bit dubious imo, same as all the Matthew's that go by 'Matty'

I suppose that:

a) he does have a proven record of getting teams promoted (9 promotions apparently according to this )
b) it's presumably cheaper to get in 2 or 3 decent signings for this level rather than to sack him and waste that money on paying him off

The only snag comes if he spends the money - they're still shit anyway and they end up throwing good money after bad.

But this season it does seem that promotion could be anyone's - you'd say that Brum have one spot sewn up, but the rest are open.

I guess McDonald will be solid back up and seems like he’ll offer a mentoring role too. He’ll play in the u21 cup as one of the over-age players, to get his minutes up and basically coach the young’uns in game.
