Heard a rumour Wrexham are after Bamford, as a town fan can honestly say and it pains me what a cracking player and would rip this division apart , he works is arse off and would hack the physical side easily.
Only downside I think he’s finished as he’s constantly now injured , so you won’t see his talents hardly. Leeds will probably want rid as I’m sure his wages double on promotion back to top flight. Could be a master stroke as he would be far too good for this division.
No chance it happens. He's not what we need and would cost a fortune in fee and wages.

Don't pussyfoot around. Say what you mean!

Any particular reason or is it just the Yorkshire divide?

Our DoF has done an interview, sounds like we'll be trimming the squad a bit in January as expected, now the front loaded first half of the season is out the way.

Rob Street, JJ McKiernan and Dylan Duffy have loan interest from L2 and some in L1.

Montsma is in talks over extending his contract (expires early January).

Saxon Earley going back to Plymouth, that's been a waste of a loan signing and hasn't worked out at all.

We're very light on CB's but Jackson and Hamer are due back in about a month so the Club aren't too keen on signing another CB for what will be effectively one month but even so, I still think we need one more. But finding some who's either happy as a squad player with limited game time after January or a very good CB we can't drop leaves us in a weird position where we need someone at either end of the spectrum.

Doesn't sound like anything will be happening incoming in the striker department, which I'm a little surprised about. The finances involved with Joe Taylor in the summer were way above our wage cap (hardly surprising considering he turned up to our game against Northampton in a Lambourghini...) and we've been told Luton are likely to sell him if they can.

As per the match thread, Jamal Blackman signs for Shrewsbury on a short term deal. Started today at Wigan.

Expecting more movement in the free transfer arena, McCarthy is an obvious target but Ainsworth playing down our chances a bit, saying there's a few hurdles to overcome

All the talk before our game Friday night was that Joe Taylor is off too Huddersfield for £2m.

Apparently he was there deadline day for a loan, but we pulled the plug on the deal when we couldn’t get our target in, which has lead to a break down in the relationship between Taylor and the Club meaning we just want him sold now

If he rated that highly then should be not getting more games with you ?

I don’t think he massively fits the play style to be honest, we are kind of built around 2 big centre forwards to occupy defenders and he isn’t that.

He still should have had more chances than he has had and no doubt we have managed him poorly, but there’s clearly been a fall out. Plus I get the sense he isn’t the best trainer. I don’t know him so I could be way off base but also get the feeling he isn’t quite as committed as he could be, just little things like he’s got the flashiest car (a Lamborghini) of the whole squad. Just not sure he’s quite the character we like. But like I said, it doesn’t reflect well on us that we couldn’t make one of the best young strikers in the EFL a part of things

Louie Barry confirmed to be recalled by Aston Villa after the New Years Day game vs Birmingham.

Superb player, one of the best I've seen play for us.

Lots of young players linked, it looks like we've cemented ourselves as one of the go to places to see young players get developed. They won't all have the impact of Louie Barry though.

I understand why they do it but absolutely hate it when clubs recall a player to loan them out again. At least in this case it'll be to a team in a higher league. We once had an inform Conor Gallagher recalled and loaned out to Swansea in the same league. It obviously didn't impact him in the long run but did kill his momentum at the time.

We thought the same after having Elliot Anderson, Lamer Bogarde and Jarell Quansah playing at the top level (and in Europe!) shortly after playing on loan here.
Pretty poor bunch of loans this season though apart from the keeper Griffiths

Yeah, I know what you mean.

You get these talented young lads sometimes and they can't impact the game despite having skill.

The thing about Barry was he was all about output, there will be young players at clubs who can probably do more tricks and flicks than Barry but don't under estimate the skill to simply have close control when dribbling, the ability to then get your head up and shoot well or pick someone out. Many can't when they get to professional football where the pace of the game becomes much faster to what they're used to in youth football.

Lewis Montsma has signed what's been classed as a 'phased, multi year' contract, which could go until 2027.

Been an incredible story for him, returning this season after two ACL injuries pretty much back to back. No question we'd have sold him to a Championship side prior to his first ACL but I'm not sure whether he'll get back to those levels. Not a head and kick it type defender but by far the best ball-playing CB at the Club.

Is that just a contract with an option for the club to extend by a year if they wish when it reaches the end?

Blackman played for us for a season under Ainsworth, surprise surprise. He was decent for us though.

I would surely think you have to be favourites to sign McCarthy though.

He is a good player, but I don’t think he’s going to get top half L1 clubs flooding him with offers, unless maybe as squad cover.

Suspect it's probably an initial 6 month extension to the end of the season, followed by another year and then a second based on availability. He'd probably have to retire if he got a 4th ACL so I'm guessing we've protected ourselves (although we did give him another contract when he was injured with his first ACL here (second in his career)).

Evatt has told Wycombe the price for Aaron Morley
He wont go cheap, Will be returning to Bolton if Wycombe dont match the price
For what it is worth i can see others like Wrexham coming in for him..

It’s fair enough really, to be honest I was surprised that Evatt let us have him in the first place other than he (Morley) doesn’t seem to fit at BWFC.

Even though we now have a shady billionaire moneyman who may be prepared to stump up the fee, it’s been speculated that it may actually be the wages that are the stumbling block, more because they have to be within a certain % of club turnover.

you have been given a price by Bolton.....You pay it or Jan 1st he is back here.
Will get straight in our team simply because Sheehan, Dempsey are injured and Matete is average. Also have Thomason who goes round with his head down kicking anything that does not move, great work horse but will never dictate a game like both Morley and Sheehan can.
I would take Conway back who is doing well at lwb at Crewe also

That’s just not true though is it.

He played in League Two under Evatt, but couldn’t get in the team because he wasn’t good enough. So much so, the following season, he went on out loan playing 3rd tier football in Scotland.
He was never going to make it at Bolton.

I also very much doubt he’s off to Birmingham too, considering he’s not exactly pulled up trees at Swindon or Crawley, particularly this season.

We've got a pretty good track record, even if they end up at Birmingham eventually...

very much true,,he was our best player the season before Evatt came to the club. Off the top of my head i remember him coming on when we was 3-1 down to Barrow and changing the game getting a 3-3 draw, think he was then dropped again and shipped out to Swindon not long after

Infact type Darcy into search then masi51.......You can read all my comments about Evatt and Darcy from 2020, you say he was not good enough really in a team that had Crilley, Greenidge and Comley in it. He was better than all of those even better than Crilley in goals

Best player of the season before Evatt came to the club? The season we finished 23rd in League One, picking up only 5 wins all season and only scoring 27 goals.
That, is an extremely low bar.

As for the following season, not quite sure why you’re comparing him to a goalkeeper and defender. That said, you’re right in a sense. He was no worse than a number of players we brought in initially. Probably why he played in a handful of games. Also gives credence as to why we were 17th in League Two at the end of January.

We all know what happened next… we brought in better players, and the majority of those who started the season, the likes of Darcy etc, were shipped out or dropped, and we ended up getting automatic promotion.

I don’t have to look back at your comments about him, I’ve seen with my own eyes his capabilities. Which is why I’ll be absolutely astounded if Birmingham look to bring him in, never mind him play at Championship level.
A much more likely course for him is L2 and beyond, at least in my eyes.
I certainly don’t begrudge Evatt for letting him go.

Darcy was a nailed on starter for Crawley in the first half of last season then there was talk of him being transferred and he was in and out of the side after that.

This season he is a nailed on starter again (he was ill v Birmingham). Bodes well for the second half of the season.

I do think he is a good player but I can't see a club such as Birmingham wanting him. I just can't see him making it in the Championship.

All our players are always for sale. It's the nature of being, just about, the smallest club in the league.
