I think that's right and I do think we are trying to improve areas of the squad for this very reason. Too good a chance to go up not to give it a go.
Given how we typically finish a season, we have every chance.

At worst, we strengthen and miss out but leave ourselves in a great position to give it a go next time.

The current rumours at our place are that we've moved on from Michael Smith from Sheff Wednesday (can't deal with their nut job owner) and are now interested in Sam Smith from Reading and Cauley Woodrow from Luton.

Generally the rumours about our transfer targets tend to turn out to be way off. Although Ryan Longman was rumoured a while before he signed so maybe we are getting more leaky.
Theres been rumours about Woodrow to you all window on our side but as weve failed to bring in any striker and let Taylor go its not happened.

Woodrow is a neat and tidy technical player, hes become more and more a number 10 type though as hes not quick, or good in the air. He is very much a sub/backup player here and id have thought you could probably get better than him given your resources. If you do go up I would expect you to want to move on from him pretty quickly given he is absolutely not championship level as a striker, so i dont particularly see the sense in it either.

Woodrow makes zero sense based off this. Michael Smith is the sort of player we need, it's frustrating we can't get anything going on that one. I can't say I know much about Sam Smith, but his record's decent enough.

Smith is out of contract this summer but we want a fee to let him go in January

I get it to be honest. I think you have a great opportunity to get in the top 2, an extra something might be the difference.

Birmingham will probably win it. Not the Harlem Globetrotters of League One their fans fancied though. Just got the best squad, with quality there to get enough easy, routine wins and pick up consistent points.

Wycombe looked the best side I've seen all season but they've been disrupted by the manager leaving, losing players they had on loan, bids coming in for their key men.

Huddersfield didn't look great when we played them, they have spent big money this window but not sure you should overly fear them.

Nobody else has a chance of automatics, wouldn't surprise me if you nicked in there behind Birmingham.
You genuinely must have seen a different Wycombe to me. I know they took 4 points from us but they looked bang average in both games

If rumours are to be believed the fee we offered was pretty decent for a 33 year old with 6 months left on his contract.

We will just come back in for him in the summer and get him for free if we're still. interested. Exactly like Mansfield did for Gregory.

Gregory is Quality in lge 1, too slow in the championship..........Not alone look at Bodvarrson awful in the championship with Millwall...good for Bolton.
Langstaff,,,,,Needs to drop down again to lge 1

Gregory got released.

We were ready to sign him last january i understand on loan and was going to pay half the wages, but your chairman intervened in the last minute and wanted us to pay his full wage which was something like £12k a week.

Glad it worked out in the summer mind.

Gregory in L2 would be full on cheat mode, obv injuries put a stop to it but he would probably be top goal scorer in L1 right now otherwise. I actually didn’t realise how good he was to be honest, his first touch is ridiculous.

In hindsight was silly by Sheff Weds not letting us loan him last January, basically ended up paying his full wages to do nothing.

I don’t think Langstaff is good enough for L1, he seriously struggled against the better sides in L2 last season but scored loads against the dross.

Big gap between lge 1 and the championship............Evatt never realised the gap and paid 7 figure fees for two players that were worth 500k at best
We are not where we was 5 years ago but we are underacheiving maybe only Bradford have done worse than us in the last 5 years

Looks like we're signing Dom Ballard on loan from Southampton. What's he like Blackpool and Reading fans?

Why was his loan cut short at Blackpool?

We're probably going to see one or two head out on loan before the deadline according to Skubala (my best guess is Duffy and then Jeacock when Wickens is back fit any time now).

Then a case of seeing if we can do anything to give us a little more squad depth at CB and possibly ST as well.
As expected, Duffy depart for Chesterfield on loan until the end of the season.

Kamari Doyle recalled by Brighton and sent straight out to Crawley.
Probably a good move, in the one position where we had a few players but looked quite good on occasion.

Good player is Doyle but probably in the category of a luxury player. He’s a bit of a maverick so capable of some superb stuff one week, but totally anonymous the next.

Crawley have a decent player on their hands if they get the best from him. Two good feet and eye for goal.

Can he defend? If yes we won't want him.

wonder if Wrexham think Bodvarrson was as bad as they thought..
Glad to see him doing well. He never got a fair shake of the stick here maybe but I get the feeling he never convinced about his fitness. But then again if he didn't have fitness issues he may well still have been at Bolton in the first place.

He looked capable from the few times I saw him but obviously Parky didn't rate him.

On the flip side, I thought he was shite but he didn't have a fair crack at the whip. We also didn't help him with a million long balls that clearly didn't work in the first half so we resorted to another gazillion long balls when we played Stockport.

Anybody know anything about Kion Etete? Seems to have missed a lot of games through injury recently however we definitely need that type of unit up front to get the best out of Collins & McAtee

We had him on loan for the first half of a season a few years back and he was class. Scored on his debut and then went quite a long time without scoring but the rest of his game was clearly getting better and better.

He’s a big lad but he wasn’t good in the air at all, not a target man type. But he had great technique and balls to feet he was great with, made great runs, ran the channels.

Started to find his feet in front of goal and then got loaned out to Cheltenham who were in L1 at the time (we were in L2).

Seems like injuries have stunted his progression but I would have him back here in a heartbeat.

I see Luton are poised to sign Aasguard, always suspected Wigan would be unable to hold on to him.
