Luton apparently bidding £6m for Kone is mental, no?
Seem to be playing a very risky game, spending best part of £10m on unproven L1 players, with a new ground to build.

Doesn't seem like the best use of all that Premier League cash.

They would need to sign quality players in order to stay in the Championship, otherwise their premier league money would be drying up in next to no time if they were to go down. Speculate to accumulate.

Dan Potts released by Charlton, having played just 3 times since signing in the summer. Surprised its not worked out for him there. What's the story? Injuries taken their toll?

We've signed two!

Matthew Cox. England u19 keeper on loan from Brentford. was at Gas for a while.

Rory Feely 9(ot to nickname him touchy). Barrow fans seem amazed we've paid a fee for him. No idea really but beggars can't be choosers.

Would of loved Dan Potts (the one I remember) but ...cest la vie!

Ben Stevenson from Pompey apparently with the squad before the game tonight.

We needed another for CM so hopefully that’s confirmed soon.

Ever since the promotion we’ve been really struggling to get our identified targets in, because we get quoted 10x the price. We haven’t really paid over the odds for anyone and have largely moved onto the next one.

It’s lead to now 4 windows in a row of real struggle and the current state of things where it’s very likely we will go down because the squad hasn’t actually been improved since the promotion . Seems this window we are kind of accepting the fact we are going to get ripped off. Too little too late I fear

Apparently we've 'nearly' signed about ten players so far. It's almost as if players don't want to come to a side that gets tonked every week.

Historically I would have said yes, but if Stansfield went to Brum for £15m and Kone’s scored more… I realise Brum are throwing silly money about in the first place, but still.

Plus don’t forget that Bloomfield knows exactly what Kone’s about, and the potential there…still only 21, still in his first full season of pro football, and top scorer in the division.

He is that player who can create chances out of nothing and win you games that you had no right to do so.

If we are able to hold out for this transfer window it will be a big statement move by the club, but we are unlikely to get promoted without Kone, especially now we’ve left ourselves no margin to find a replacement.

Not as if you need the money now either I'm guessing. The Wycombe of two or three years ago would have snapped their hand off I imagine.

I seriously doubt it’s actually going to happen. Don’t see why Kone would do it at this point as we could passing eachother by come May time, Wycombe could probably still get the same deal in the summer assuming nothing catastrophic like injury happens as some championship team will surely be able to come and offer the same so why accept now.

Plus I’d imagine the 6m we are offering is over some of extended period and caveated by various incentives like us staying up (which I doubt will happen)

Yeah, it's a whole new world right now with us chucking money about, to put that into context £6m has been pretty much our entire annual turnover in recent times.

Yeah, we've had the same arguments made on our forum. I definitely think Kone's value will only increase as he improves, I'm sure we won't hang on to him forever though. He is easily Championship level so I guess a lot depends on whether we manage to go up this season or not, as to whether we can hang on to him in the short term.

We need two CBs and a striker pronto. Preferably ones who stay fit and can play with some aggression.

Wonder if either of us are in for Ryley Towler who is rumoured to be leaving Portsmouth? Bristol lad so maybe wants a return to the south west?

I wouldnt be surprised if we are as we have got 3 ex-shitheads in our team

His name has been mentioned on Exeweb a bit. He’d certainly be a welcomed addition and it’d mean we could shove Ed Francis back into midfield.

Any Shrews fans able to give the low down on Joe Anderson who I think you had on loan last season from Sunderland?

Apparently us and Bristol Rovers are in for him according to the Northern Echo

Thats a new one for us, although we are both gonna be linked to every defender on offer!. We have also been linked to Theo Vassell at Barrow

These last-minute scrambles are annoying too, if you did decide to sell them you have no time to get in a replacement.

Was described as a ball playing left sided defender. Started off last season ok but a bit lightweight. Got shunted to left wing back a few times and looked like a fish up a tree, giving an horrendous performance away at Oxford.

Hurst came in January 24 and first thing he did was leave him out of the squad totally as he switched to a back 4 from a back 5. Barely got a look in until the last few games of the season, where he actually gave his best performances, arguably man of the match away at Bolton.

Given he's another year older and after a season with us he may be a bit more suited to League 1. Based on the back end of last season I wouldn't have been too disappointed to have him back. Seems better suited to a 5 than a 4 at the back. Can't see him getting a proper look in at Championship level with Sunderland

That's the problem.

On the face of it, 1.5 mill for Millenic Alli is a great deal for Exeter but it will possibly be money that is just burning a hole in their pocket for the remainder of the season. If they can pocket it for the summer (which it looks like they are) and can stay up, good deal.

We had Alli when he was a young player, looked like he had something, bit erratic but not without skill. Don't think we quite had him down as a Championship player but fair play to him.

Looks like Lu’un are moving onto Exeter’s players instead:

Millenic Alli bid
Essentially swapping Joe Taylor with Alli if we do this. At least Kone was a bit more of our profile being taller and perhaps a bit pacier, more of an athlete type. Not sure what Alli is like but seems a little short for what we normally go for, which is one of the reasons for letting Taylor go.
