promotion or bust for parky then, that’s serious pressure lobbing that much on a third tier player.

Wrexham are never going to sign a player that is deemed market value, or less, they will always overpay from here on out so that’s to be expected.

Martin Ling wouldn’t lie to us :woot:

Although you’re certainly paying him more wage wise.
Oh I have no doubt about that! Tbh it well could be 50k going up to 250 after goals etc, but as the Wycombe fan said - you’ll never get that!

So ha! Take that Orient! That’ll teach ya

There's a player in Dalby but he needs to be able too just stay in the box and get on crosses, like he does in Dundee. We lack the creativity to have a 6yard box striker. Our forwards have to try and do it themselves

With the possible exception of Birmingham that's true of every potential promotion team in this division.
Tbf I said the same about Portsmouth last season and was shot down by the Pompey fans as they disagreed. The best sides we’ve had down here was when Ipswich, Plymouth and Wednesday were promoted. They were all genuinely brilliant sides. Even Barnsley who finished fourth were excellent.

I think Wrexham will need to learn how to play better football rather than percentage football (my perception of Parkball I’m afraid). The sides who go up from League 1 and succeed all have a bit more about them.

Tbh, I don’t blame Wrexham for going for it but I actually don’t think they’re ready yet. Another season in League 1 would actually do then good in my opinion.

I think most have said this. We cannot afford to go up, but if we ended up this season missing out on the autos then so be it. If we ended up in the play offs then that is one hell of a season. We need to solidify behind the scenes and let it play catch up before we can progress and maintain in another division.

The club and the architects have provided a little snippet into the new stand, so wouldn't be surprised to see us back to a 3 sided ground next season as building work should be commencing.

Sonny Perkins signed on a pernament deal for two and a half years. He's been better the last few months, but needs to buck his ideas up alot more and show that he wants it. He was never ever going to play for Leeds, nowhere near good enough.

Omar Beckles confirmed as out for the rest of the season by Wellens, but he has been offered a new contract by the club.

As it stands we still want to sign a striker and winger pernamently and will assess what to do with the centre half option over the coming days, we can't really loan anyone in as we've maxed out our loan slots. Dan Happe and Jack Simpson both tend to pick up injuries and Brandon Cooper has now really got to step up.

We'll either be dead quiet on Monday or very active. Wellens has said we've had bids for strikers rejected - One I believe was for Niall Ennis who has since joined Blackpool on loan.

Does everyone want to sign a striker then?
Or are they all at Wrexham?

Signed Fabio taveres from Coventry.
No, nor me.
Came through the youth ranks at Rochdale. Winger/forward. Had a few sub appearances and got a goal - Cov presumably saw something in him and offered us a small fee, so off he went.

In the tradition of irrelevant facts beloved of football fans, about 3 years ago his dad worked with a couple of mates of mine for a firm which supplies/manufactures sauce for McDonalds

I feel like letting Brandon Hanlan go out on loan indicates we may well be in the market for another forward.

We haven’t really got great backup options for Kone. We’ve got a couple of winger/strikers (Lubala/Udoh) and Vokes is playing at being caretaker asst manager right now (and might still be slightly crocked), but that’s as good as it gets.

A lot of sides come to Adams Park and just play for a point, men behind the ball etc. It would be great to have a proper target man type against those sides, to win the headers and hold the ball up.

Most of our forwards are crap in the air, which is never great when it comes to winning the ball in the opposition half.

He's got ability but never really settled into our system. At Dundee United they play in a way that suits his game.

I think in England he's a League 2 level striker really. Could maybe play at this level in the right team but I think the fact he's doing well in the SPL says more about the standard of that league than his ability.

...back in Stannium pan land (tinpot), our left midfielder, Sonny Fish, has gone on loan to Solihull Moors. He played one game this season so I can't be sure but I can't see him being a league 1 player.

Plus a very odd one. Junior Quiterna is said to be in Argentina for a medical for a Premier side out there (Cordaba?). Hey, we can sign someone from Africa, why can't they sign someone from league 1.

We are light in numbers and physical presence. Unless we suddenly find a pot of gold and sign some players the little hope I had will disperse like mist on a summer morn.

I think he could have done better than Burton but he's settled where he lives and it's not too far for him. I remember Lincoln fans didn't rate him but overall he's been good for us. He did have some of those anonymous games they warned us about but he definitely came out of his shell more the longer he was here.
Getting Covid fucked Jones up here really, he wasn't the same after that.

Not surprised he performed two levels lower than he was when he was here, or that he's not had too much game in L1 with you. He had that promise in his earlier years, close to a Championship move, but he's probably settled as a lower half L1 midfielder now.

Looks like Jay Rodriguez is done.

We would have him, Fletcher, Smith, Mullin, Palmer, Marriott and Faal. Surely someone must go out on loan and it would have to be either Mullin or Palmer.
Are Ormerod and Adebola coming out of retirement as well?!

Genuine question, and I suppose this is to all Wrexham fans rather than you specifically, but at what point do you start to think a bit more long term? Getting yourself in a position where you forward line options are those sort of ages is pretty mental. You've got 12-15 players in that 30+ category as well I think?

I can understand that whilst you've been winning you don't want to up-skittle the squad too much but it does feel like it's a bit of a ticking timebomb where the sort of squad overhaul you're going to need is a risk. At the minute you can buy decent L1 players and take out of favour Championship ones at huge money but once you go up, and whilst I understand you've obviously got money, to then get those deals done when you might need half a squad's worth is a hell of an ask.

Now signed for Chesterfield on a permanent after only a few days. Must have impressed. He has gone for a 'significant guaranteed fee and a very significant sell on'.
"Significant" is relative to the importance of the player of course but it's around £100k apparently, which I think is good business on our part. No point keeping a player who doesn't suit the system we play (or really looked likely to turn into a decent L1 player in his favoured position either when he got the chance).

Does Faal ever play for Wrexham? Didn’t they throw half a million at him, he must be what, 10th choice striker? Why waste so much money.

Rumours were that our CEO went for him rather than management as he wanted to bring the average age down, but in the games he has been in, hes been absolutely dross. We can't ship him out either as he played for WBA at the start of the season, but he would be the first striker out the door if we could, followed by Palmer.

Palmer not in the squad again today and rumours of going back down south to Gillingham.

As we pretty much all said, we need to stay in this league as we have a squad of league 1 players, and only 2 that can be classed as championship. If we were to go up this season, then we'd come straight back down probably with a record lowest points total.

Lets get behind the scenes caught up, aim for the play offs until we can get a squad and emulate the feats of Oxford this season, then we can talk about progressing there.

Stockport County.
Wrexham are loaded. They are more than happy to just force players out, not register them etc because they've got the financial muscle to absorb it.

They don't have to work like other clubs and think of re-sale value, age profiles etc.

They released a player in the summer and then were informed he still had a year left on his contract so they just laughed and paid him off.
