Getting Covid fucked Jones up here really, he wasn't the same after that.

Not surprised he performed two levels lower than he was when he was here, or that he's not had too much game in L1 with you. He had that promise in his earlier years, close to a Championship move, but he's probably settled as a lower half L1 midfielder now.

Are Ormerod and Adebola coming out of retirement as well?!

Genuine question, and I suppose this is to all Wrexham fans rather than you specifically, but at what point do you start to think a bit more long term? Getting yourself in a position where you forward line options are those sort of ages is pretty mental. You've got 12-15 players in that 30+ category as well I think?

I can understand that whilst you've been winning you don't want to up-skittle the squad too much but it does feel like it's a bit of a ticking timebomb where the sort of squad overhaul you're going to need is a risk. At the minute you can buy decent L1 players and take out of favour Championship ones at huge money but once you go up, and whilst I understand you've obviously got money, to then get those deals done when you might need half a squad's worth is a hell of an ask.
We can't go and sign quality Championship level players yet, we all know there's an enormous overhaul needed if we go up. Which is why most people think it's too much too soon this season, we all know that we would be hammered most weeks up there with our current squad.

As for the age, a lot of those 30+ will be gone this summer in any case. The average age of the first choice starting XI would be normal for this league I would imagine.

Wrexham are loaded. They are more than happy to just force players out, not register them etc because they've got the financial muscle to absorb it.

They don't have to work like other clubs and think of re-sale value, age profiles etc.

They released a player in the summer and then were informed he still had a year left on his contract so they just laughed and paid him off.

Yeah but it’s still idiotic isn’t it? That money can be invested elsewhere, and considering the fact the financial rules get a lot stronger in the championship too Wrexham need to start being smarter with that money if they wanna be successful long term at a higher level where the financial advantage is evaporated.

They obviously recruit without thinking much about the future, that’s not going to change until Parky leaves I imagine, they need to change things around completely to progress after his successful tenure is done with.

Wouldn't surprise me to see Will Keane back in this league, this window or the next. Picking up too many niggles this season and has fallen down the pecking order.

Jack Whatmough will move on in the summer too, supposedly Wigan want him back.

A London club (I'd guess Charlton) enquired about loaning Patrick Bauer, but he doesn't want to relocate from the NW.

Given we're 3rd in L1, I think we can accept what we're doing is working for now. It isn't the most attractive model, but if we go up you won't find any fans complaining (except that one on here who's hellbent on telling you all Wrexham fans think we'll come right back down.)

Getting to the Championship is worth millions, more than it'll cost us to sign and release a few older strikers. That seems to be the aim with the striker signings we've just made. I think we need a creative head in that midfield though, whether that's Lee or a new signing.

I'm getting worried about the average age of all these Mansfield strikers. Rhodes must be pushing 40 same as Lee Gregory?

Sure we were on the tele earlier this season and it was mentioned we’d got the highest average age in the country.

I’m not worried this season, he’s got to be better at getting a goal than our current 3rd/4th choices and touch wood we aren’t at risk of going down so it’ll be fine until the Summer when it could be abit of a rebuild with 19 players out of contract.

If it’s just for depth this season ie a loan I have no issue, if it was permanent then I would be concerned.

We are in a situation where we’ve got two really good L1 strikers in Evans and Gregory (both double figures already) then it literally drops off a cliff, I would argue our 3rd and 4th choice strikers are so poor they don’t even count lol.

The problem with Lee Gregory is the knee issues, but at the same time Wrexham have spend millions on strikers and he’s still better than all of them, but you don’t want another elder player in the same position. We need to speculate on younger players in the summer.

The Sun is reporting we’re after Portsmouth GK Will Norris. Don’t get this one at all, we’ve already got 3 senior GKs.

Bolton supposedly interested in Whatmough, but think we'll have to bring in another CB first.

That wasn't just laughed off though...it was a major cock up by someone.

When it was 'discovered' he had a year left ...how the hell can that even be missed - by BOTH parties ffs? ....they had little choice other than to keep him on for another season (which they'd obviously just decided wasn't going to happen) or to actually pay the bloke off. Pretty much Hobsons Choice.

I agree you can’t argue with it now, but the potential is to pay the price for it down the line.

It’s worth millions but it’s going to cost you several more just to compete, financially the most difficult league for you lot will be the championship, you will be throwing more of your overall income on wages alone if you don’t wanna be cannon fodder.

Gotta bring him home, it just all fits. No fit number 1 here and him desperate for a loan he'll play...
