So in the window we brought in 3 loans Louie Sibley, Dan Gore and Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu.

Six have disappeared either on loan or sold so we are bare bones until the end of the season.

It looks like we've given up on promotion for this season which is disappointing but also it's probably sensible to save the money and try and improve in the summer.

On the plus side we seem to have hung onto Cam Humphries and Hakeem Odoffin and Sam Nombe plus the loans all look like decent signings.

We couldn't fill the bench at Birmingham and Wilkes joined the injured list so expect to see an incomplete bench in future games unless we can get an unattached player in later.

We need to get JCH back to fitness and try and get him and Jordan Hugill to at least make some sort of contribution to the season, they both owe us that, they have both been terrible so far.

I think Pelly is going to frustrate you a lot! Despite being a bit of a legend here for obvious reasons he can still frustrate and has his critics to this day.

He needs to play in a well balanced midfield to get the best out of him, he’s not the most creative or the best passer but he’s brilliant out of possession and positionally and gives the midfield some real structure. He’s been the foundational corner stone of some good midfields for us but never really the standout player in any of them. He can also on occasion absolutely uncork one from distance.

I think the real reason he’s been around for so long under a number of managers though is his personality. Literally everyone that’s come through here seems to love him and his upbeat personality is very infectious to a group.

We missed out to another L1 club having agreed a loan deal with an option to buy, and terms agreed with a Championship player in that 25-28 age bracket, which at our end, we think leads to either Owen Moxon (who went to Stockport) or Owen Dale (went to Wigan).

Three in, three out for us.

James Collins will prove to be an excellent signing up front I think, although as a collective we're probably weaker in attacking areas after injuries to Cadamarteri and Moylan.

Those who went out made sense as well, so it was an ok window for us in the end but not one that will change the course of our season.

A really busy window for us, which I wasn’t expecting:

Outs:

Tristan Crama, recalled by Brentford
Amani Richards, recalled by Leicester
Kamari Doyle, recalled by Brighton
Millenic Alli, sold to Luton for £1.5M according to reports
Mustapha Carayol, released

Ins:
Angus MacDonald, free from Aberdeen
Ed Turns, undisclosed fee from Brighton
Alex Hartridge, loan from Wycombe
Ryan Trevitt, loan from Brentford
Joel Colwill, loan from Cardiff
Tony Yogane, loan from Brentford
Andrew Oluwabori, undisclosed fee from Halifax

Crama is gigantic loss which has been made worse by long term defensive injuries to Sweeney and Yfeko, so it’s pleasing we’ve added to the defence recently. 13 goals conceded in three games says it all.

We should be stronger in midfield with Trevitt and Colwill coming in and only Doyle leaving who was hit and miss.

Losing Alli who was in such good form is a blow and we were hoping to bring in another striker, which didn’t happen. However both Yogane and Oluwabori will both add pace and some kind of outlet.

Overall, a decent window but time will tell if we can turn our form around. We have a week now to work on things before a routine game at home to Nottingham Forest. Easy.

Fairly happy with Rhodes and Vickers, it definitely helps with our lack of depth in attacking areas and both come with proven ability at this level, obv Rhodes is 34 and no longer the deadly Championship striker he once was but scored 15 last season at this level.

A tad worried we are light down the left with FBT out injured, but should be ok I think.

Anthony Forde leaves us by mutual consent. Very decent wingback on his day but injuries and personal stuff has meant he's barely played in 18 months for us.
Seems to be getting linked with us and Tranmere. What sort of injuries has he had?

Back injury I think was the one that kept him out longest. He was also on and off in terms of being registered for our squad so hard to know if he was ever fit in those periods really.

If fit he is a top fullback/wingback. He's solid all round, decent defensively and good going forward.

Good summary, I'd forgotten about Richards. At least we held on to the other one though

Long-time player (as well as former Exeter man, and Franchisee) David Wheeler has just left the club, I'm assuming we paid up his contract in order to let him go as a free agent.

He had barely got a look-in this season even *before* our flood of January signings, so this is fairly unsurprising.

Whilst I realise that he's not morally obliged to go back to a former employer, my ghast would not be flabbered if he rocked up back at Exeter, or reunited with Ainsworth at Shrewsbury.

I can't see us being interested, we already have 73 midfielders/ wingers.

Is he off to do some environmental or campaigning stuff instead?

our site doesn't say what he's gone to do exactly, it just says he's left to "explore new opportunities".

That said, the last time someone did that at Wycombe, it was our RB Jason McCarthy, hanging up his boots at the ripe old age of 29 to become a coach at Brighton.

Stockport County.
If you've only released him today, he can't join a Football League team. Needs to have been released during the window.

On re-reading, he was released before the end of the window - but it was only announced today.

I was thinking that, as long as it was before the end of the window he can sign elsewhere.

Ainsworth did say in his 11pm interview on Monday that they'll be looking in the free agent market if there's anyone that will improve us available

He’s a very useful player to have, very versatile and great in the air. I wouldn’t say he’s amazing at any one position, he’s always been a utility player for us, but Ainsworth knows all about him so he could be an option.

Some rumours floating about that striker Kemar Roofe is training with us. Not sure how true this is though....................

It's been confirmed that Jack Roles has gone to Gateshead on loan for the rest of the season.

Some of our fans really rate him because he tries to shoot.

They're really building quite the collection of ex-Us up there. Think that's 4 now, that's almost Charlton levels!

Roles was alright for us, bit of a luxury option mind.

Tbh, I'm not sure we're actively looking to sell anyway.

The decision the Board have got to make is whether they see the value in selling him now with a good half a L2 season fresh in everyone's mind or if they loan him out, he does well again and sees his value increase. Wouldn't actually surprise me if we gave him a new deal and loaned him out for the next 18 months or so to see how he develops over a couple more years.
As I had an inkling about, Draper signs a new deal until 2028.

Another clear indication that we're prepared to be more patient with younger players and see where they are at 22-24, rather than 18-20 as a few years back.

We'd help his cause if we actually played to his strengths a bit more.

This rumour was on our forum a few weeks ago apparently Skubala was happy to let him go but there was intervention from above him.

Supposedly interested in Lewis Bate at Stockport, assume it would depend on them missing out on promotion.

We'll be in the market for a central midfielder with Ryan Ledson & Duane Holmes likely to depart.

Good player Bate, I imagine there will be lots of Championship clubs after him though and it won't be cheap.

First of Ainsworth's contacts of free agents in today. David Wheeler has joined until the end of the season. Looks like it was family issues that stopped the move happening earlier, but possibly some desperation with Castledine out for a period has meant reinforcements are required.

Happened the other day but keeper Toby Savin went out on loan to Barnet. Having been first choice until the change of manager, some poor performances culminating in the error ridden game at Cambridge where he arguably cost us all 4 goals, he's not had a look in since Blackman has arrived. Started the season ok but his confidence was clearly shot. Ball all accounts flapped at a cross to give York a goal on his debut too. I imagine we'll try to offload in the summer.

Finally!

Good signing, the kind of committed player that Ainsworth is all about, and his versatility is great when it comes to injury cover as well, would probably do a job any position he was asked to.

Seems to be a popular signing. Said in his interview that he's been keeping an eye on results, but needed to make sure everything was sorted for his wife and kids. Shows that family is more important than football in the grand scheme of things. Hopefully he can hit the ground running.

There's been some rumours of wing backs training but nothing concrete yet. Definitely need cover on the right hand side
