My apologies your initial post stated you wanted to do well and get 'promotions'.

Well done on your 2013 play-off win and promotion from Div 3 though and all the other non-promotion stuff you now mention. It has indeed been a good five years for you.. We got relegated from the Championship that 2013 season (weren't you lot in that once - at the turn of the millenium or something?)

Btw is the Rumbelows Cup or whatever it is called these days now considered a 'Major Cup Final' or only since Bradford were in it?
At the turn of the millennium we were in the Premier League mate, the top division in case you're struggling. So in the last 5 years you've had a relegation and multiple mid table finishes. I'm jealous, scratch trying to get promoted we should just wet ourselves over selling a player for a decent fee now and again, that's what every football fan dreams of.

Apparently signing David Wheeler from QPR. Was very good Exeter, not made it at QPR. Bit of a surprise as we seem ok on the right hand side of midfield. EDIT - signed on season long loan. KJ says he can play either wing. We need someone to play wide left with a bit of pace. Scored 21 goals in a season for Exeter in league two . If he can get double figures for goals and for assists, that'll be a great signing for us.

You are just not getting it. Are you suggesting that Marriott did not have potential and that during the course of 9 months playing for a woeful mid table Posh team he just 'suddenly' became good...if he was so shite at Luton then why would Posh pay 500K for him. That is a lot for a player with no potential.

Either way...

Of course I'm not saying that. I've said many times he had potential. But by your logic our options would have been the following...

1/ Play him regardless of form. Stupid.

2/ Keep him because he has potential but don't play him because he is out of form. Stupid.

3/ Sell him but demand £5million for him despite being in no form and as a result noone would pay that. Stupid.

It's unfortunate how it went for Jack here however as I've said many times, it's a deal that worked for everyone.

We are such morons. Clearly we should have kept Marriott and built our team around a guy who couldn't hit a barn door at the time, spent another year or two getting out of L4 as that team gelled. What were we thinking in making money for the club in selling and reinvesting in the supply lines to a 100 goal team already assembled that went up. We're so stupid

Nice to see Luton fans admitting their club made a mistake and not insisting everything they do is right. Oh wait they're being sarcastic and refusing to admit their club made a mistake whilst insisting everything they do is right.

Love Wheeler. My favourite player in recent times.

He is unquestionably the best player in the air I've seen. He's not massive but has an outrageous jump so he'll win the ball 99/100 times. He was brilliant in his last season with us, scoring 21 goals from the right wing and breaking the club record of scoring in (7) consecutive matches. He's not technically anything special but he's such an effective player and will give 100% on the pitch.

It's a shame it hasn't worked out for him in the Championship but I really hope he does well for you.

Amadou Bakayoko gone to Coventry for between £150k to £200k.

Good luck to him but we've well and truly had there pants down there, very good deal by the club to get even close to that much considering quite a lot of the supporters would have let him go for free a month ago.

Only 75k for Bakayoko.

Considering the money we have made over the past 6 months, that is (weirdly) not too much for us.

Far from it, Bryn Morris has good technical ability and a nice range of passing. He just needs an extended run of games to fully show what he can do. He's represented England at every level up to and including under-20 and captained the side at each level. You'll need to be patient but you signed a good player.

Lots going on at Town in recent days, or in some cases rumoured to be going on.

We've signed Luke Waterfall from Lincoln.

Bryn Morris has joined Wycombe on loan until January.

The rumour mill has Glasgow Rangers midfielder Greg Docherty joining on a season long loan in the next day or two. It also has Bristol Rovers having made a bid for Stefan Payne.

The saga over Nsiala and Nolan moving to Ipswich is still dragging on. Despite them reportedly having had medicals today the transfers, for a combined £2million, have still not been formally completed.

Seems to be a wide player which is on one hand odd as we dont play with them, and on the other hand not odd at all given Jones history of signing them anyway!
Apparently the fee will be £400,000. That would be the highest we’ve spent on a player since 2005 which was err... Adam Boyd.

Really?! At that fee surely he’s a starter! As ostensibly a winger I’m not sure where he fits with the current set up

Probably a bit of an upgrade on Cornick who is in the same mould. Think we will see a lot of 1 up front and 3 behind him this season, Colclough could be 1 of the 3 with Lee and Grant.

Our winger Duane Holmes has been linked with Derby.

If we lose him it will be a massive loss. He was far and away one of our best players last season and looked brilliant when he came on against Coventry. We need him to have a good season.

Colclough to Luton if it goes through would be a fantastic signing. Great player in this league, two winners medals, goals, pace, two footed and skill.

All quiet on that one today; hopefully it will be done tomorrow, but the loan window is open until the 31 Aug in any case with “a view” to a permanent signing. That loophole is back like the old days.
