We don't give out away figures but still publish them in our programme, god knows why.

Club is just a shambles in every single way at the moment

Sold out our 700 tickets for Bratfud.

Can buy more directly from the club until 5pm today. Should add another 100 or so.

Few confused Poolie’s on Twitter, suggesting we’re holding back tickets/being difficult, but the reality is, unless the opposition club pre-buys tickets, we refuse to allocate more - simply because of overhead costs/policing bill.

Put simply, if your fans think they could sell 1,000 tickets, your club obviously do not - otherwise you’d buy 1,000 tickets.

Either way, a very good following for a Tues night fixture.

Oh it's unquestionably our fault. Not sure who it was who only requested an initial 500 tickets for a match that's only 80 miles away, but it was a bloody stupid call. And then to compound that by only asking for a further 200 when the initial lot sold out quickly is scarcely credible. Unsurprisingly, the extra 200 were sold in around half an hour. Somebody dropped a king-sized bollock there.

Such is our slapdash approach to communication these days that we put nothing on our website about the extra availability today. So if you didn't read twitter (and when at work I'm unable to even if I wanted to) you'd know nothing about it.

I still think it's bloody daft that you can't pay on the day, but that was known well in advance. Our turnout will be lower than it could've been. That's on HUFC.

759 Poolies at Bradford. Decent considering we made a bit of an arse of sorting our allocation.

I will try and sort something out next week but at present there are some teams played only 4 away games and isn’t very representative.

This season we seem to have quite a few estimated numbers which is frustrating. Even sometimes home attendances are difficult to get.
So here are the average away followings. I don't claim they are 100% accurate as there are some estimates in the figures

I am sure that Grimsby's away following beats all these this season.

Not bad from us seeing our closest game so far was Crawley last night!

In much the same boat; our closest so far has been BRovers with the next nearest in Stoke. Expect we’ll muddle our way over a 500 average by the end of the season.

A flat average away attendance is a useful measure but with an obvious flaw, as pointed out above. As an example, Exeter will have done more than twice as many miles as Swindon so far this season. A quick glance at the fixtures shows Swindon's longest trip as being Scunthorpe. Exeter have also been there, as well as longer trips to Hartlepool, Salford, Barrow, Harrogate. Even their shorter trips (Crawley, Orient) will have been the thick end of 200 miles. So Exeter's number really isn't a fair reflection of the quality of their travelling support.

A fairer measure would be miles-adjusted, e.g. something like total miles travelled to "valid" matches (i.e. those for which there is an away figure) x total away fans taken, divided by number of valid matches. Exeter would be higher in such a table, as I suspect would Carlisle and Orient. Swindon would drop, though probably only a little as they've had good numbers. Mansfield and Oldham would drop too. I reckon we'd be a little higher too (top three would be my guess), though we will face the real test in the new year when our batch of south-west games kick in. If we are doing well the numbers will hold, but if we're bottom half, those games would lose appeal to many.

Even that would only be a rough ranking, as you're never comparing like with like. You have opening weekend vs routine October fixture, you have Tuesday vs Friday vs Saturday, you have away ends that were sellouts, etc. etc.....

Who do you think will bring more to you than you take to them?
As a really pissed off Bantam, I can’t see anyone bringing more.
But I doubt if we will create the noise that the monkey boys made the other night. Credit where credit is due, their following was brill

I have a done a table based on mileage travelled and taking into account night matches.

The figures produced correspond to travelling 150 miles on a Saturday afternoon or 100 miles for an evening game.

Oldham Rochdale and Mansfield have been disadvantaged whereas, Colchester, Exeter and Carlisle are the opposite.

Nice work. That looks about right to me for where we currently are with the season. It will change a little as teams dip in and out of form, and as the season builds to a climax, but it's a pretty decent guide right now. I think back to our last L2 promotion. A lot of our fans will still reminisce about us having 3750 at Darlington and 2978 at Dale (last away match, going for title), but for me the 829 at Barnet and 850 at Wycombe were every bit as impressive. Miles matter.

It’s a shame Harrogate don’t seem to travel in numbers, because I think with a good away following I would have fancied a great atmosphere at the vic on Saturday.
Hopefully with us being one of their closer games this season, those numbers pick up a bit.

Leeds are at home so not a chance they'll bring many

Im surprised ours is as high as that. Our away form has been shocking, and our away days have consisted of; Exeter, Mansfield, Leyton Orient, Salford and Newport.

Salford and Mansfield sold out, but all the others aren’t the best awaydays for different reasons.

Vale would have been our next local(ish) away day, but that’s now kicking off at 12pm on SKY. Tranmere is on a Tuesday night, otherwise I would have expected us to sell-out.

Seems the ‘better’, more local away days come next year. Still expect us to average well over 1,000.
