Loyalty for hospitality membership really isn't the one but decent system other than that.

There's times where I wish we had a loyalty system in place.
To be honest, that's the first time I noticed that. There's a big debate going on at the moment around this topic. We've just released details of the player awards which used to be a night for supporters to attend and meet the players. It's over 50% corporate and VIPs now, with only 20 spaces that may, or may not go to some supporters.

Our CEO is a decent lad, he's justified the decision on our pod, talking about rising costs and the need to maximise income etc. The event will be available to stream live, but it just doesn't sit well with a lot atm.

The loyalty scheme became essential for us the last time we got promoted. Last few away games were sell outs. Hartlepool we got 700 and Exeter 1100 (I think). There was nothing in place to ensure they went to those who've been most away games. People were camping on the car park the night before.

Have to admit I’d never seen that on the hospitality either before. Just assumed it was the same as a STH as they do lump the hospitality in for final season ticket sales. Some haven’t liked it or at least initially. Usually the ones who had a mate in the ticket office to sort them out or one or two got their backs up about it being called a loyalty scheme but I’m glad they were given short shrift and it’s worked well.

Either way was definitely something that needed doing. The Exeter one you mentioned or the Swindon away playoff where people were camping outside the ticket office was something that you wouldn’t have seen with most clubs since the 80’s. Think it first started getting talked about in the Shanahans first year when we had Man City away in the cup and think they allowed STH’s to buy 4 each regardless and ended up the situation Vale fans who go games but didn’t have a STH missed out when we were allocated 8000.

There was talk at the end of that season too as we were potentially looking at selling out places like Plymouth, last game of the season if we were close to getting in the play offs. As it happened Covid ended the season, the season after no one could attend, so it didn't get sorted. The promotion season forced the issue as the problem resurfaced.
