Our manager when interviewed recently was asked how we would do this season, and he replied by saying there were 3 teams in the division who were streets ahead financially than all the others, but we should compete with with the ones chasing the top 10 positions........he did not say who the 3 teams were, but is the perceived wisdom to be Bradford, Salford and possibly Mansfield?.....I always thought FGR had a few quid too, and as much as I hate to admit it, Argyle should have a stronger cashflow than most?
Classic deflection tactic by the manager of a club who has a budget that should comfortably ensure he achieves a playoff spot...as well as having to deal with promotion expectations from the fans. Paul Hurst used to pull this one a fair bit back in the Conference. It's definitely Bradford and Mansfield. Other than Towell, I can't see that Salford have actually splashed that much cash. They probably came up on a sizeable L2 budget though. FGR won't be that close to the top of the budget league looking at their ins/out, think DV is cutting the cloth a bit. Scunny, Cobblers, yourselves and Colchester along with the aforementioned before FGR up in the top 7/8 budgets wise.

There’s going to be a few disappointed clubs this season.

We missed the play offs by 1 point last year, and have 9 new recruits at the last count, which has pretty much finished the job of transforming a Tisdale team to the current manager team, so yeah, I agree with the deflection tactic, and I think our managed is quietly confident that we go up this year, as are a sizable chunk of the support. We have lost some players too, notably our keeper Pym, who I always rated and he saved our arses plenty of times last season, but confidence levels are still high. I guessed Salford, as others seem to think they are buying their way through the pyramid.

Salford probably is right, to be fair. I can't see who else it would be. I'm in lazy mode right now so can't be arsed to Google haha...where has Pym gone? I'd agree, he's a very solid keeper for this level. Who's your #1 for this season?

1700+ allocation for Morecambe and they've scrapped pay on the gate. You couldn't make that shit up. General sale tickets start on Friday 26th July. I'm moving house on August 1st, so hopefully our ticket office will deliver to my work address.
Can’t wait for it now, i was supposed to be working it but having an operation on 30th July that needs a weeks recovery according to my Doc so booked it off work and now part of my recovery will be cheering on the boys from the terrace at Morecambe.

Grimsby hospital I love you! :bg:

Yeah, I'm really looking forward to it too. I think we're gonna get off to a winning start too.

Based on crowd size alone we should be in the top 7-10 player budget wise, but not the top 3. Our business model is based on sustainability, so a lot of investment is going in to generating off the field income. To this effect we now have Xmas parties and events booked for the new grandstand, and the club is hopeful that the New Years game will be the first with the new grandstand open. The logic of this is that we may get a bit more useful money in the latter part of the season, but it is more likely that it will be for the next season when the player budget will be enhanced a bit more.

10 days!

I go to Cornwall the day the season starts and probably won't make a game till we play Northampton on Tuesday the 20th(?) August. But I'm excited to have the real stuff back.

Pym went to Peterborough. We bought in a couple of keepers and the jury is out on which one will be the starter. They are both supposed to be pretty decent, but they would have to go some to improve on Pym

Plymbury fans who travel away.
Have it on good authority ( so not a rumour ! ) . That our home game v yourselves on Sept 14th is the subject of wrangling between Vale, Stoke and the old bill.
Stoke host Bristol City the same day and plod want one of us to move. Stoke have no priority over us now they are in the EFL but it's always us who seem to move.

Mind you what's not to like about Friday 7-45pm in Burslem

Mansfield probably have a top three budget again but we have only brought 5 players in and I bet other than Maynard and Cook the rest you didn't even know existed.

I agree re the deflection tactics though, Plymouth (and rightly so) have a top budget for this level and any moans or groans about the money avaliable to spend down in Devon is unjust.

We say we have a bottom six budget.

But you know they will still have the sprinklers on at Home Park.

Big Bird, I hope you are not camping, gonna be blowy in Cornwall Friday/Saturday?

Thankfully not, got a house overlooking the sea in Kingsand so a decent view even if the weather is appalling.

Morecambe leading vs Mansfield. Not surprised as our line up is a bit dodgy.

I don't know, I thought he was close to playing again. If he isn't injured he's probably just a while away from being match fit.

I hear we have switched back to 5-3-2, which is our best formation.
