I don’t know what our full playing budget is although I guess I could add it all up and work it out but I can’t be arsed, but our 2 top earners are on 6k per week and before this I would’ve guessed our top earners would’ve been on around 3-4k per week so it proper shocked me what all clubs in this division must be laying out.
That can't be true mate, someone must have got that wrong. That's about 20% of last year's entire budget for the entire staff on two players!

It seems really high to me too mate but that's what I've been told by somebody who knows someone at the club, the same person who told me about Obikwu's car crash before it was made public.
Maybe they've got muddled up somehow I don't know but they are definitely not a bullshitter.

Yeah, I figured it was probably that same source. Hopefully they're not right! Don't get me wrong, McEachran is earning his keep if it's true...Davies though, yiiiikes.

Grimsby can’t be paying anyone £6k a week, surely? That’s not far off double our highest earner and we hardly pay poverty wages at this level.

The Grimsby owner didn't mention this in the latest Guardian column did he?

I can't see how it's possible we are paying players 6k a week , maybe it's muddled and 6k a month or something. We will see the wage bill anyhow in the next week or 2 when the accounts are released ; but I hardly think as 'the guardian writer' claimed a team with a 'mid range budget' would be forking out the highest wages in the league somehow

I’d say our highest earners are Andy Cook and Ritchie Smallwood - circa £4K p/w.

I think I'm still stuck in the 80's and 90's I thought div 4 footballers were getting a few hundred quid a week

If we're paying anyone more than £2k a week I'll be amazed. We can't afford whatever Bradford are paying Sam Stubbs. In fact, it's mooted that we won't even be in for him in the summer because of what other clubs are likely to offer him.

Maybe the person who told me is doing a Colleen Rooney/Rebecca Vardy on me and seeing if the info gets out there.

If so I've fell hook line and sinker.

As was expected our game at Crewe moved to a 12:30 kickoff. Not the biggest issue for us, it’s not as though it’s a huge distance to go. Eyes on for if they move the Walsall game the Saturday after now.

Apologies if this has already been mentioned (I'm not going through 426 pages to check), but Glenn Morris still being a regular in the Gillingham goal at 41 yrs old is some achievement.

I’ve now seen a fair few Div 2 pitches now, both up close and on TV and I reckon we’ve got the best pitch in the league. Those who’ve visited us, what do you think? If you haven’t visited, take a look on Sky Sports + tonight

People probably say it most years, but in terms of quality this has got to be hands down one of the poorest L2 seasons we've ever seen.

Quite a let down when you consider there were some fairly big spenders pre-season.

It doesn’t rain, it pours at this club at the moment.

Absolutely devastating news regarding Phil Kirk, one of our owners this afternoon. All my thoughts with him and his family.

What that man and his brother have done for this club will never be forgotten.

Well after everything that's happened this season this is the fucking sprinkles on the topping on the cherry on the icing. Firstly and most importantly this is dreadful, awful news for Phil and his family. What this means in the longer term for the club...who knows. The man's been an absolute saviour for CFC.

It's mostly his money I think isn't it not his brothers? If I was him I'd be securing my families future, not a football clubs, so it's a slightly uncertain time on the horizon. Sincerely hope he's kept as comfortable as possible with his loved ones around him. Someone close to me died of similar not long back and they can deteriorate very quickly. So sad.

Rumours abounding that the American investor in attendance at Whaddon Road last Saturday was Joy Seppala. She of SISU and Coventry ignominy.

Naturally, a few of our fans are suddenly claiming that she wasn't that bad at Coventry and it was all a clusterfuck there anyway and her hands were tied, blah blah blah, because pound signs!

I'm genuinely concerned. Fortunately, this is all stupidly early stages and there's nothing to suggest she's the only bidder. But there's plenty of Cov fans out there telling us we should be starting protest marches if it does go any further.

Walsall v Vale now moved to a 12:30 kickoff on April 5th. Predictable if still really annoying. Wimbledon away end of April have to fear the worst on that one too.

Cheltenham v Doncaster has also been moved to 12:30.

Early start for the Donny fans. Frustrating for me because my son kicks off at 10:30 in Tewkesbury, which will make it impossible to get to the Cheltenham game before kickoff.
