Ainsworth. It's not even close for me.

The turnaround from last season has been remarkable, without spending an awful lot.

Hasn't spent even 1P on players all were released by other clubs which make his success even more remarkable this season, as you can guess i'm going for Ainsworth, last season we looked doomed and would have gone out of business had we gone down but my god the turnaround is astonishing. The Chairman rates him that's why he got a 5 year contract extension.

WTF is Westley on the list?!?

He doesn't deserve to be in the running for this in truth, we were absolutely woeful for 50% of this season and although we've improved he certainly shouldn't be considered alongside Ainsworth, Moore or even Hasselbaink in this poll.

One thing I will give him credit for though, we could very easily ended up like yourselves or Carlisle and we were certainly looking over our shoulders up until our good run just after Christmas. So from that point of view he's done well.

If Ainsworth takes Wycombe up he'd deserve this, otherwise Ronnie Moore for me.

This season Ainsworth has done the business, getting them to punch above their weight and all this with the added dimension of rampant cheating and gamesmanship.
...and that's kind of the bit that sours it for me.

I suppose I'd rather be a nasty team that gets results than a weedy ineffectual team that everyone else praises for playing pretty football and fair play, but never gets points on the board, but our gamesmanship is not something to be proud of.

Doesn't mean to say I don't think Ainsworth has done a quality job, but still. I think it's bullshit when the likes of Chelsea get in the ref's face constantly, I'm not proud when we do it.

It's one of those things really. It is annoying to an extent when you do it because like you say it puts you level with teams like Chelsea who are trained to do it, and it would be nice to win without having to do it, but from my point of view I've watched Carlisle lose out on plenty of seemingly easy decisions this season alone when you just think that they could've appealed that bit harder.

There've been obvious handballs or stonewall penalties when the players just leave the ref to make the decision himself and at times like those you wish that it'd be your players surrounding the ref. Problem is that when you're down the bottom the players appeal much less, most likely due to a mixture of apathy and feeling sorry for themselves.

Absolutely. There are 17 other sets of fans who support clubs that didn't make the play-offs who would rather be in Wycombe's position right now, Newport County included. I think sometimes League 2 fans seem to they can demand champagne football on an alcopops budget. I have lost count of the times that supporters of clubs like Oxford United and Exeter City criticise other clubs for their overly physical approach or their hoofball tactics when in reality they are just angry that the brand of total football their team plays has not got them to the position in the table they think it merits. In football, the ends all to often justify the means.

It is between Ainsworth and Moore, but I've said Ainsworth for the reason that Ronnie Moore had nothing to lose and had little pressure in the end.

Pools got to a point where they were so down the pressure lifts, they can just as such go for it and hope c a couple of sides cock-up which is what happened (although I know not as easy as that but hope people understand what I mean)

ainsworth in a summer turned a crap side into a decent one, only missing out due to the small resources available........if Moore does same with Hartlepool next season then I'd give him it.

No pressure on Ronnie Moore, nothing to lose.. are you kidding me?

Fair enough the form of other teams helped us but they didn't lose points, we were 10 adrift at one point (11 including GD).

Ainsworth for me though.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
your lot were at a stage where the entire league expected relegation, your board expected it and your fans did.

seen that at Carlisle before and it removes a lot of the negativity as they all decide to work together as its too late to do the blame game anymore. draws don't matter so in games you just 'go for it' and hope for the best.

Is it a surprise when you looked gone you suddenly win a load in a row, then the moment pressure is pumped back on as you find yourself out of the drop zone the stumbling happens again.

not saying he didn't have a tough job, but he's probably at some stage decided to not worry about keeping things tight and hoping to nick it stuff and thought its do or die and went for it and that helped.

Ronnie Moore. They were dead & buried 2 months ago. It has to be Ronnie.

Who voted for Mickey Mellon? Get in the bin.

I agree that Mellon shouldn't win this. There are better candidates, for me it should go to Moore, but the job Mellon has done this season, admittedly very well financially backed, is worthy of recognition. He inherited just seven players, built a new side, go them to gel quickly and achieved the objective for the season.

Obviously I voted Ronnie Moore.

He turned a drab squad into a competitive team with a few third choice loans. No-one wanted to come to Hartlepool and I could understand why.

Plus he brought the humour and fun back to the club.

We had too many FIFA badge managers before Ronnie came in.

So Ainsworth wins the official LMA version of this. Correct decision in my opinion.

Well deserved for how he turned the club around this season after nearly taking us down to The Conference last year but thanks to Mansfield we stayed up on goal difference. I admit i wanted him out last season during the run of 1 win in 17 games and didn't want him as manager this season but what the fuck do i know? He's on a 5 year contract so the chairman is a much better judge than me. :ffs:

I'd rather finish midtable having watched some decent football being played than scrape into the playoffs after watching a year of diving, cheating and thuggery.

That's what fans of all 'footballing sides' say to make them feel better. Arsenal and their 'boring boring Chelsea' stuff for example. Yet I doubt you ever walk away from a draw/loss at 5pm thinking 'well, at least we played the right way'.

It's a false dilemma anyway. You can play in just about any style and still win and be effective, beauty of football and that.

i don't think any stoke fans are happy with their lives to be honest. (1) your team plays disgusting football, (2) you're from stoke.
