Yeah he did what he had to didn't he, I don't think we ever really managed to stretch him at any point though as you defended well. Quite how he managed to escape without a yellow for timewasting was quite impressive though!
Yeah the ref was poor there. Fuming if that's the other way round. Did he even warn him for it? It means we go into injury time essentially knowing we have a free hut on that front.

You doomed it for the Gills - he wasnt really tested but looked really tidy, and worked well with the defence who he only met a few hours ago.
I was a bit disappointed in him that he didn’t get a bit of cramp in injury time to be fair.

Mad that he didn’t get booked yet we had 2 players booked for getting the ball kicked at them, the Khouri one was absolutely ridiculous he was nowhere near the ball yet got booked for not getting out of the way.

Just as a side note Grimsby fans, you are getting a lot of praise on our forum at the moment.
As disappointed as we all were with our own lack of urgency and creativity, the general consensus is that it was a very good, efficient away performance from your lot and you deserved the win.

Yeah seen a few things posted on our forum that have been copied from yours. Always nice to read and I think it's been noted by a fair amount of Town fans. Bonner seems to echo this in his post-match too. I thought it was interesting that one of the journos at one point seemed to be trying to push him down the Grimsby-came-to-shut-up-shop avenue and he as much rebuffed that and alluded to the fact that you've done the same to teams in certain matches this season. Gave a very honest assessment of the match, seems like a sound guy based off that.

Young lad we brought in from Macclesfield this summer has gone out on loan to non league Oldham until January. Bags of pace, but very raw and looked a bit like a fish out of water in games I’ve seen him play in so far this season.

Hopefully gets plenty of minutes at a top end NL club, similar to what Hobson is currently getting at Barnet, and kicks on in his development as he’s definitely got the tools to be a good option for us with his pace. Never going to get a sniff whilst Grigg & Madden are fit though so makes sense this one does.

Alex Pattison out injured for a few weeks now.

Wow - I’ve never known anything like it. Injuries galore.

We’re looking to replace him with a free agent.

Talks of Matty James - was at Bristol City last season

It's crazy isn't it.

God forbid if Cook gets injured, we would be well and truly goosed.

Non league Oldham?

That can’t be right I could’ve sworn they won the league with that 1-1 draw at your place last August?

Does he remember how to play football? A bit of a desperation move to tide us through to the January window in my view.
Could be a great signing especially on a free transfer. He played two levels higher last year and scored goals/got assists so at this level, he could be fantastic (or shit).

I think his CV club wise is impressive (obvs less so his recent injuries which is why he’s here) but the fact we never addressed the central midfield issue during the summer speaks volumes for the lack of/botched strategy that holds us back.

We’ve signed Tyler Burey till January.

Don’t know an awful lot about him but hopefully he’ll help us have a fighting chance of getting out of this shit

We had him on trial a few weeks ago, but clearly decided not to sign him. Or we lacked the money to sign him. Be interested to see how he gets on, could be a mistake on our part.

You’re not as desperate as us.

You can afford to say no if you’re not sure. We have to take punts and hope for the best given our football league status is at risk.

Rumour on X that we’ve done a deal to bring Lo Tutala back in January.
I would be very surprised but over the moon if this is true

I'm told that Charlie Kirk is about to sign for Barrow
Don’t know where you heard this. We are getting the lions share of possession but no fecker can finish in the final third, so at this point I’d take Captain Kirk up front.

His is an odd case. Ok, it didn't work out at Charlton, so he got his contract ripped up. But then he spent a couple of months as a free agent with no takers. We signed him on deadline day in January and whilst he was lacking fitness and sharpness and wasn't the Kirk of his peak, he still created 3 goals, but they never registered as actual assists. Our manager didn't want to keep him in the summer and again, he spent months sat waiting for the club and is now picked up in late October.

Wish him well, he's a talented player. But I wonder if he can properly bounce back, or if his career is in terminal decline.

Yeah, there were definitely flashes but he didn't do enough consistently. Funnily enough, he was magnificent in the game we lost 3-0 at home to FGR - should have got a couple of assists and hit the bar with an astonishing effort. I'm pretty sure we'd have kept him if he would have accepted lower wages. Hopefully he gets a good run in the team and gets some of his form of old back.

Barrow splashing some cash here. Widely reported/known within Grimsby ITK circles that his wage demands were too much for us so we gave up on him.

Seen similar stories from our end. Still think the manager didn't want him, but I do think wage demands priced him out, which I find baffling.
