All's right with the world. The grass is green, the sky is vast and the birds are singing.

Dannie Bulman has resigned to Crawley. I don't care if he is 39 now, I don't care if we hear naysayers stating erroneous data to prove spurious facts. Dannie is back where he belongs.

He played about 30 times for Wimbledon in league one last season so he should be fit enough but more importantly, there has been a large gap in our midfield where Bulman used to play.

I have no idea who signed him though?

Mellis is a Notts lad. Talented but by all accounts a bit of a waster - like Paul Anderson, i'd always be wary of these players whose careers are on a very obvious downward trajectory.

Mellis always had potential, never really fulfilled it.

What's with all the early business this year? Has anyone NOT signed a player yet?

Do other clubs force every one of their new players to pose in photos with their CEO or is that just a Mansfield thing?

It's the first signing we've made that i'm wary of if i'm honest. Got being loaned out in January written all over it.

Reminds me of signing Oscar Gobern last season.

I rated Mellis when I've seen him play but so many clubs have passed him over. Signing for Mansfield is last chance saloon territory for a league club probably

I'm feeling left out. You know, like when a couple of your pals organise some party but forgot to tell you all about it and only do so at the last minute when you've made other plans :(

I definitely know we're not signing anyone till our current contract situation is all sorted.

Turton and Guthrie have until this coming Monday to sign their contracts or they're being released. As they're 24 and over, we won't get a penny for their services so Artell wants them to commit now or go. Artell seems resigned to losing Turton (YES) but reckons Guthrie still might stay (I disagree).

Ray will probably become one of the higher earners with his deal that I expect him to sign but Ng will be on peanuts despite being offered a new deal so that won't affect much of what goes on. Hollands is Eastleigh bound so that frees up wages and Finney and Richards (both of whom are on peanuts) have already signed the contracts they were offered. If Ray and Ng reject their new deals (which I don't see happening) then we'll be entitled to compensation anyway for both so we can allow that to go on beyond Monday.

I think we'll be looking to start doing our business in June which I'm fine with, get our own sorted first then we know how much money we have to play with which should allow Artell to deliver his first-choice targets for each position.

Very optimistic we can compete this season with the right additions as now the spectre of Davis has gone, we can now have the full-scale rebuild of the entire squad we've needed ever since 2014. Harry Davis' lucrative wage he was on could get us two good players for this level too.

Yeah CB, although I've just heard he's signed for Wrexham so looks like that was bullshit that I heard earlier about talking to Mansfield or surely he would've chosen League 2 over Conference.
I'm still mostly blaming Paul Hurst. He, mostly, signed dross on long contracts and we have the knock-on impact now...

Jacob mellis is a good player and I didn't think he'd end up in league two. Evans and Raynor will sort him out

Don't think were signing any massive wow players either by the looks of it, we are only mansfield town in league two after all. But i do like having the squad together before the start of pre-season. Also the fact all of our signings have come from league one or above and have done reasonably well there. We were 4 points off the playoffs so I don't think theres that much to improve.

So I'm guessing we are going to need a centre back, 2 centre mids, a winger and a striker, Possibly abother centre back and a full back as well. Big Dave has a big job on.

In shock news elsewhere, other clubs may at some stage also sign players, other than just Mansfield.
Is Rheady contracted for next year/ likely to play a lot??

Cant wait to welcome him back, one of the best first touches I've seen for a big lad

A manager would be nice, then he can go about the easy task of assembling nearly an entire squad.

Long overdue rebuild after Davis refused to do it because he wanted to pay his favourites the big money for so long. If Dave's recruitment is like it was in January (Bowery and Cooke) then we should be looking up and not down and we'll have a competitive side.

7 signings is about right, could possibly be 1 or 2 more. Has the potential to be our most exciting transfer window for quite some time this year!

Seen Chesterfield have signed Anyon and Wiseman, two players we released. I think they're both quality signings for this level. Wiseman is a very good Full Back, we'd have kept him but Jordan Clarke is the better RB out of the two which means we went with him. Anyon is a very good shot stopper, sometimes fails to command his area but looked good in pretty much all of the games he played for us (apart from the Play-Off Semi's 2nd leg). Think they'll both do very well for Chesterfield.

He is under contract, one or two rumours about clubs nearer to his Stoke home are /were surfacing again like this time last season but think he will stay.

He played a hell of a lot of games last season, not sure what DC intends to do with Rheady and will depend who else we get in up top. He does have a great touch for a big guy though, that is very true.

Mellis is a massive luxury player, you need someone to do all the hard work next to him or have him in a role where he doesn't need to track back. When things are going well he's a great player to have but otherwise he'll go missing. Very much a marmite player. Likeable guy though so I hope he does well and feeds my beloved Danny Rose.

Exactly how I'd expect Mellis to have been critiqued to be honest. Any lad that spirals from Premier->Championship->League 1->League 2 in almost as many years tells his own story.

First of the signings to really come with significant doubts attached. Although there will be plenty of competition for his specific role.
