Is the Markanday thing definitely happening?
Huge blow that is, but 2 good signings coming in if those are to happen
Reading between the lines Blackburn want to cash in before he is OOC, They want anything from 750k+ and not sure we are going to stretch that far. It's not totally off the table but I think he has admirers much higher up the leagues

Big loss I agree

We’ve tabled a bid for Josh Stones apparently, not sure he is what we need right now though as we have young/less tested EFL experience up front already.

We've signed Bryn Morris from Newport, ex Grimsby.
Did you pay money for him then ?

He's had a superb spell at Newport , always rated him with us but many didn't - a neat and tidy player who gives 100% at this level and scores the odd worldy seems a great signing for Harrogate .

Yeah he was solid, I also rated him more than most did. He was let go purely because he was the only midfielder at the time on a one year deal when in reality there were others that should have been ahead of him in the line for the axe. He'll be a good signing for Harrogate.

Few whispers at our end that Cerwyn Scott to Carlisle is done.

Obviously will always be a legend here for the play-off winning penalty, but a move is best for all parties I think. He needs to move back closer to home for his own wellbeing and we need someone we can get some games out of in that position.

Embleton had a season loan at Grimsby as a teenager (?). Looked quality and I expected he would kick on to better levels than he has( perhaps injuries have hampered that? ) Scored a couple of screamers from distance.

IF you get him and IF he stays fit, then he is very capable at this level, and probably the one above
Thought he would have a solid Champ career he looked very good when we had him 2 footed creative player , you don't get many of them down here ; Robson aswell a good player Carlisle with them 2 should be alright surely unless they have both somehow gone crap in a few years .

Best of luck to Scott wherever he goes. I really don’t think he’s good enough for League 2 but was a very capable deputy for Langstaff in the promotion season and did well in a number of roles and deserved his big moment at Wembley.

They were both decent for us but we were also very hungry for anyone remotely not terrible at that point. Embleton hasn't been good for Blackpool. Whether or not that is because he isn't good enough for L1 or if he hasn't been playing in the right system, I'm not sure. I don't see this as a nailed on good signing though.

Agree with all of this, Scott was obviously very successful with Williamson before so he might be able to get the best out of him. Whether that's enough to make him a productive striker at this level, I'm not sure, but I'd be delighted for him if he did.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
Experienced players at this level is probably what we need at present to drag our backsides out of the drop zone.

Whether players who were good and have ‘lost their way’ are good longer term solutions for Carlisle is a bigger issue.

I find a player who hasn’t their way will usually turn form better in a side doing well than a side doing awful, but a lot of that can be about player character than anything else.

Remember when we signed Kevin gray years ago he was tranmeres worst ever player at the time but ended up exactly what we needed at Carlisle then preceded just sacked and at his worst time of his career also type we needed.

Need a couple of battlers types who won’t drop head quickly

I'm delighted to announce that I am running a new feature for the January 2025 window called 'GOOD SIGNING/BAD SIGNING'. Here we go...

Lapslie to Bradford: BAD SIGNING
Morris to Harrogate: GOOD SIGNING

We've rejected a bid for our LB Denver Hume by all accounts. Would need to be a bit of a silly one for us to let him go as he's become an important player for us. Out of contract at the end of the season and unlikely to stay, he's probably worth more to us for the rest of the season than the small fee we'd get now. Was only ever supposed to be here to put himself in the shop window at the end of last season. I don't think many Town fans were arsed either way when he signed a year deal in the summer but he's one of the ones Artell has worked his magic with. Current joint top assists in the division and his defending is improving. Probably in the L2 Team of the Year conversation right now.

Isaac Fletcher is our first signing of the window apparently. 11 goals for Spennymoor so far this season.

We have two coming in tomorrow to add to the already signed Will Patching. I look forward to your verdict.

Why do you think Lapslie is a bad signing; ability or attitude?

A few whispers that we’re back in for Freddie Draper. He was fantastic for us until Lincoln recalled him, it’s all gone about south for the lad since then.

Apparently we had a bid (rumoured to be around £200k) rejected in the summer but the lad is really struggling to settle back in Lincoln.

He’s very similar to Jamille Matt, so to sign him on a permanent deal, I think he could really develop into a top player.

Of course we have the worry of Lowe being recalled, time will tell with that one.

Certainly spending big again that one won’t be cheap he only jointed in summer.

From looks of it was superb in L1 last season not good in this although I’d say their change of style since managerial change will be as drastic as ours.

Will do business at this level IF he gets form back

Rumour on our forum of Kyle Cameron coming in, currently on loan at St Johnstone from Notts...

Their fans hate him seemingly and his bridges have been completely burnt here. If they do cut his loan short he won’t be coming back.

I still have a lot of respect for Cameron as a promotion winning captain for us, though. I think he could still be a useful League Two player if he can focus on being a defender but, a bit like Baldwin, he just made far too many basic mistakes in our pass-it-around style last season.

Seen plenty of rumours around us bringing Emre Tezgel in on loan from Stoke. Seems unlikely to me as he's been getting minutes for them this season, I think he came on yesterday vs Burnley. Unless they decide to recall Lowe from Walsall and send out Tezgel.

Also I'd throw what ever money we can afford to get Max Conway in permanently from Bolton. He's been a breathe of fresh air and looks class (see his run vs Carlisle for our winner) I'm amazed Bolton wouldn't atleast want him in there squad to be honest.

I think it's not just form. He'll take a while to get back to match sharpness having played so little; first with injuries, and then with Blackpool changing manager 2 matches in and him not fitting into the new 442.

Do Carlisle have time for him to come good? Of course, he may be good to go almost straight away.

23 appearances this season, 15 of them in league 1. Admittedly most were from the bench. He did start in the FA Cup and used car trophy last month though.

We were interested in Tezgel in the summer. I wouldn't mind another option up there, as he doesn't seem to want to give Bogle 90 minutes at the moment and Chris Long is Chris Long.

We've definitely been trying to get Conway permanently. I think Bolton have got plenty of options in is position, so are happy to let him go. He loves it here and I think he's keen to stay - I'm not even sure if Bolton want a fee, I think negotiations have just been around what % sell on is agreed.
