Fantastic (I mean he might be crap but paying fees for young players on long contracts is just nice innit)

It is for a player that’s only played 9 games in the EFL but sounds like he’s one we’ve wanted for a while.

I’ve watched his Shelbourne compilation on YouTube though and he looks like Cole Palmer but better so I approve, I’m going to move over and get settled in the League 1 forum early I think

3 and a half year deals at this level is mad

Been standard for us the last four or five years for anyone youngish with some potential. Get lumbered with the odd miss but when you end up with someone like Langstaff or now Jatta, they’re worth a small fortune because they’re tied down. Worth it if you’ve got a good recruitment team.

think younger players are easier to move on if they don’t work out as well, everyone loves a reclamation project

Great age profile, much needed reported pace (we are sadly lacking in the department) and another fee paid.

Let's hope he's better than Kairo Mitchell, I suspect he is. If he turns out to be good then secures a nice few when we sell in 2/3 seasons time.

We've been forced into it to a degree. We keep getting it right and then other clubs come sniffing our talent and without a long contract we get peanuts for them or the players just run their contracts down.
The eternal dilemma for clubs at this level who want to develop youngsters innit, we've lost players in the past because they were on short contracts and they decided to jump at the first sign of interest from a higher league, but we've also been lumbered with Regan Griffiths and Billy Sass-Davies on long deals who turned out to not be EFL standard.

I'm not against it obviously, he sounds great, but he won't be the first winger we've signed without really playing with wingers?

It is mad. We have half of our team on 3 and a half year deals.

We’ve only handed one out this month so far however.

Kyle Wootton ran his contract down for you. We offered him i.proved terms but you offered him league football and I'm guessing a pay rise. Dan Crowley will be gone unless we go up I think.
I don't blame them but it is irritating.

Edit, thought you were a Stockport fan for some reason, sorry about that.

Our best player is a winger when we don’t play with wingers tbf. Maynard is definitely going all in on the inverted wing backs again.

We've got Sass-Davies, you're right he's not league standard.

Bloody hope not. We've Jones, Tsaroulla and Martin on the left but only Sam Austin on the right as Kellan Gordon looks right out of favour. Can see him leaving.

I can’t work out if this guy is left or right footed. His wiki says left but then I’ve seen a clip of him scoring a penalty with his right, so god knows.

You've got Greg Abbott picking them though.

Not anymore.

I mean, he’s still at the club, but he ain’t picking players no more.

But still, 3 and a half year deals at this level is mad. However you want to dress it up Clive.

Looks very right footed to me in every clip (and takes about 5 penalties with it too).

Don't know much about Jarvis and it wouldn't surprise me if we don't even see that much of him this season. Jodi didn't play that much when he joined us in the conf for example

On Ceds, I can see why Carlisle have gone for him. He has a good goal scoring pedigree, was a big part of our promotion season in the conference and knows the manager well. They won't have paid much and if he can contribute to helping them stay up, it will be worth it. It's probably also better for him to be closer to home

Yeah, but with two wingers it's a bit mad isn't it? Just playing one mental wing back seems to have been working quite well. I might be oversimplifying it.

Jones is going to play on the right, people are just going to have to accept it (he was also fantastic there at the start of the season and has himself said he prefers playing there).

Actually think Jarvis will play more advanced anyway. Who knows who for but that’s the beauty of it I guess, a bit of a luxury signing perhaps but we also needed more quality so no complaints from me. I’d still be surprised if we don’t sign a proper centre forward option.

Always disappointed when we sign a Will because it’s not really a footballer’s name but I’m happy to give this lad a chance.

Even if we do (we won’t) we still have MK Dons to come here before you.
Not bad then mate, another winnable game. Should be looking at 6 points there and suddenly things start to look a lot more rosy.
