We’ve beaten Chesterfield and Walsall in the race to sign Burnley striker Micky Mellon, according to Football League World.

Currently on-loan at Stockport, but had a decent campaign at Morecambe last season. 15 goals from 27 apps.

I look forward to having him on loan next season.

Actually joking aside I read we'd been linked with a loan deal for Tyler Smith. I assume he's totally down the pecking order now Bradford fans?

Permanent, three and a half year deal. Winger/forward who sounds like he had a great loan spell with Shelbourne when they won the league in Ireland last season.
The LOI is a weird league because you get a side like Shamrock who are half decent but then you get other sides who are basically part time Conference North/South standard.

Down the years we've sent a few of our 17-19 year olds on loan to Dundalk and Drogheda (now owned by Walsall's Chairman, I think?) because it's quite a wild swing of quality the face from week to week so their exposure if far more varied than a NL or NLN/NLS loan. It's rare that we've had someone go over there and not look half decent and I think it'd be very difficult for a L1 youngster or L2 player to look out of their depth in the LOI.

He scored double figures last season, however the bulk of those were in the mickey mouse cup.

Had a couple of chances early this season and he was dreadful. Nowhere near even the bench last few months.

In my opinion more suited to the level of the other Bradford club, Bradford Park Avenue.

That said, goes to Swindon and he will rattle in the goals for sure!!

He's disappeared off the edge of the world. Even with Cook out, he still can't even get on the bench anymore. TBH, I didn't mind him. He scored a couple of important goals away at Donny and Barrow last season. He is a strange one because he can score a beauty or miss 5 sitters on the spin, but he's nowhere near as bad as some make out.

DearneValleyRover You likely to bring Will Flint back? Loan up with us, and he has been my Player of the Season. Would be made up if he stays for rest of season.
I haven’t heard anything, given how well he’s done for you there might be a chance we would use him but I doubt it. Given how well he is doing I would prefer him to stay with you as he is getting game time and experience.

Good player is Tyler! He receives some right pelters from our lot.

He needs to go out on-loan. He’s got another year here. Wouldn’t mind you lot taking him, he’s done well at Swindon before, by all accounts.

You had a good side but that league had zero competition. Both ourselves and Notts the year before had better teams and had to compete in a harder league- we are currently joint second in league one with half the same team. You also arguably weren't as good as Stockport the season before.
I've actually just scanned the the 2022/23 and 23/24 seasons at the same time with my high tech medical equipment and it detected a grand total of three pulses. Less than half the amount of pulses detected in the previous single seaaon on its own.

If the owners want to spunk a load of cash trying to stay up, I'd rather they tried paying two clubs to throw a load of games and get relegated.

Overpaying for a squad of 35-40 players on long contracts is not good.

Stockport County.
Mellon got injured in pre-season and when he got fit he just couldn't get in our side. He had the odd Johnstone Paint game but didn't impress at all if I'm honest. But he looked bright when we played Morecambe last season which is probably why we brought him in as an option.

When you played us he didn't impress tho' he did playing against us for Morecambe last year. Funny thing though, all Morecambe players impress against us, especially our cast offs

Extended to end of season. Great news.

Turns out it wasn't Tayo Edun for us, but Val Adeokun on loan from Brentford.

We've also got Tommy Backwell on trial from Bristol City - a midfielder apparently.

Given our director of football Jamie Russell recently left to go to Salford and I don't believe we have anyone replace him, our recruitment strategy is likely to be one of

1. Sign one or more ex-player(s)
2. If a striker is required, sign one on loan from Bradford.

Tyler Smith fits both categories this move makes sense for all parties.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
Carlisle just signed ANOTHER midfielder a loan player from sheffnwed

Are we attempting to play championship manager here and going for a 0-10-0 formation

At this rate we are going to have to extend our new training facilities for England over the border into Scotland just to accommodate the midfielder training sessions.

Our club is madder than mad jock McMad the winner of last years mr mad competition.

Reyes Cleary loan cut short and sent back to WBA that opens up a space for another striker to come in I'm hoping it's Freddie Draper myself we need a Jamille Matt alternative.

Our midfield has been garbage apart from Guy.

I can perfectly understand why he's trying to replace every single one of them.

If this means we never have to see the likes of Vela, McGeouch, Neal etc in a CUFC shirt again then fair enough I say.

But yeah, on paper it looks mad. I'm glad this is a loan and not another 2 and a half or 3 and a half year deal.

I expect Reyes to turn up somewhere in the bottom half of League 2 at some point in the next few weeks.

Looked sharp and pacey whenever I've seen him, just didn't get the minutes here and was well and truly 5th choice without too much fault of his own.

Edit, actually, he can't play for another team this season. Will do well in the National League then.

'We've beaten Chesterfield and Walsall in the race to sign....'

Mmm, but whenever it's 'We've beaten Bradford to the signature of' the response is always -
'Nah we weren't even in for him, it was just Twitter rumours'

Think Mellon’s a pretty brilliant replacement for Cook, in terms of being a similar kind of player and a proven goalscorer at this level - a big if with the injuries he’s piled up over the last 12 months but think you’d struggle to get a player with that record and potential without spending a lot of money

Apparently were in for Janoi Donacien, defender from Ipswich. Obvious links with Cook, Roberts & Dyer so wouldn’t surprise me if we are interested.

I’d be lying if I said I knew anything about him or had even heard of him, but Ipswich fans seem surprised he’s dropping below the championship never mind into league 2 so at least that’s positive.

Believe it when I see it though, feels like we’re being linked with everyone at the moment
