What does Carver think of selling Mellish to Wigan?

Not much, probably the right thing because he's always been a liability in my opinion. Even when he scored all those goals in the Covid season he was still prone to making costly errors.

However I think he does leave with a bit of a cult hero status.

Hardly anybody has posted on here since Friday something to do with safety certificate for the site.
Their ssl has expired and it's been that way since Friday. Depending on what browser you use to access, you'll either be able to ignore and continue or just be blocked. Most will be blocked. It's a 2 minute job to fix literally, goes to show how much of a shit the owners give about this place apart from trying to flog us to sketch af iptv.

Finally, it's back up and running! Obviously the big news over the weekend is Lowe returning to Stoke. It's going to make no difference to Walsall's prospects at this point. As others have noted, even if they have an average/poor second half of the season, they'll still have enough.

They've got some other decent players, so can't see them imploding. It's the risk you take when making one of your loan players the main man...we did the same with Arblaster last year. Walsall have got away with it a bit but loans should supplement the squad, not be a main part of it.

Very true on all points, all be it Walsall got lucky with it as with any loan and as we did with Arblaster, every loan is a gamble and I cant imagine Walsall signed him in the summer as the main man, the difference Walsall have is they have some back up which we didnt when Arblaster went and having Devine in the same situation in the same position. Dan Gore could of been but did a 45 minute cameo and then not seen again.

The call back thing does frustrate me though, why have a season long loan in the first place as they either get recalled if any good or sent back if not! Should just be a standard loan until January with the option to renew then fans and clubs know it for what it is.

Hopefully Lowe goes out to L1 or plays for Stoke as otherwise its a total waste for me.

Looks like we’re signing Charlie Whitaker. Young attacking midfielder from Everton on a permanent, never had a loan so hard to make any kind of judgment, but feels like pre-replacing Crowley before the summer.

Such a weird feeling from the Lowe recall. It obviously effects Walsall who are promotion rivals, albeit almost over the line even with a shit 2nd half to the season...but it's still quite raw the loss of Arblaster last season, that I do feel sorry for Walsall fans a bit. If Stoke play him (rumours are Canon will go back to Leicester) then I get that. But if he's not used, or he goes to L1, what's the point? Devine was ruined at Plymouth 2nd half of last season. Notice Matt has scored a few recently, so he's coming into form just at the right time, and there's still time in the window to replace anyway.

It’s incredibly annoying for us, we’ve played them twice and he was absolutely pivotal to two narrow defeats.

Been told we are 100% after Freddie Draper and on a permanent deal this was before Lowe was recalled so we probably want 2 strikers now.

The Arblaster one stung but then in fairness as soon as recovered from injury he was playing and within two months captain in a Premier League tie at Old Trafford, he was that good, probably one of the best loans L1 has had in terms of the quality of the player. Best player I have seen in the Vale strip and will possibly play for England, lost his Grandad the night before his debut, turns up as an unknown and dominated Reading straight out. Sheer quality and maturity. Good to see he still comes to watch us in the away end when not playing for the blades.

The Devine one didn't it come out that Devine wanted to stay, he went Plymouth and flunked, he was just hitting real form for us as well. That night at Mansfield in the cup when everyone thought we'd struggle they just ran the show like men v boys.

Horrible season last season but watching those two, Blaster especially was a sheer privilege. Can't be many if any young loanees that go out from the Prem to L1, play half a season, go back and then become Captain in the Prem in the same season!

Thats the thing with loans though, often a gamble and for every Arblaster there is a Jenson Weir or Mipo but then like Walsall when the gamble spectacularly pays off there is nearly always that sting in the tail that they are gone soon after Christmas.

Interesting how many inexperienced PL academy youth types are moving this January - wonder if that’s indicative of the overall market (i.e. impossible for EFL clubs to shuffle squads around or coax teams into selling whereas big clubs have surplus stock)

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
Sorry about the forum, Carlisle United bought it.

They then realised it didn’t play in midfield and have given it back

Delayed response about Nicke Kabamba signing as I was enjoying our FA Cup weekend. Cost may look a little high and Barnet may not be worried about losing him, all I’d say is we’ve got good history and complete faith in Woody and his transfers / loans. He’s made many more good moves than bad ones.

We’ve signed Stephen Wearne from MK Dons

For us to sign one of the best midfielders in the league is a real statement of intent.

MK Dons are right mugs for letting him go. What a disaster their club has been since Williamson left them for us, they had their honeymoon period with Lindsay but how many have they lost in a row now?

Their squad is getting picked apart by other clubs and no one is looking to be coming in for them.

We're signing some quality players in this window.
A big ask for them to all settle quickly, hit the ground running and save us though. As much as I’d love them to.

Still need to sort out the wing back situation before next season and need rid of a lot of the loser crap from the dressing room. I’m thinking hat trick of relegations McGeouch, plus Vela and a few others. Get em gone.

Shame about Lowe, will probably be the difference between a superb finish and a really good finish. I think Robins has taken the chance away from the lad to get the golden boot and club player of the season, probably league player of the season too. He better bloody play the kid now.

We are very much a squad and not a one man team though, so I expect us to dip but not dip massively. Probably a few more wins turned to draws.

Hoping we now push the boat out to get Freddie Draper and another in the same vein as Lowe. Tezgel's been mentioned as a straight swap though I don't think he is the same kind of player as Lowe.

We are playing a blinder in this transfer window so far. Managed to get fees from Bradford and Carlisle for two shit deadwood players, Tommy Leigh and Stephen Wearne.

Liam Sweeting must be a genius (not to mention getting a fee for our shit manager Mike Williamson earlier this year too).

The so called shit manager who stopped you from going down last season and almost got you automatically promoted after an amazing run and who is regarded as one of the best head coaches outside of the Championship?

Looks to me more like their is something going on behind the scenes at your club which is unsettling players and staff.

Signed Zak Johnson on loan from Sunderland. Centre back and another recently on the League of Ireland. Makes sense with Macari and Ness out, needed a bit of cover there.

After the MK lot arrived to tell Bradford how shit their new signing is, I was waiting for them to come and announce how shit Wearne is. And here we are, like clockwork.

Thing is, we are the worst team in the football league. It won’t take much for a player to improve us. And you’ve no idea what the fee is. It could be 50p for all you know. Don’t act like it’s some sort of heist of the century.

The manager who was about to get sacked this season before you paid stupid money for him, and the manager who has made zero difference to your fortunes since arriving. Yes, the inspiring figure that is Mike Williamson.
