After the MK lot arrived to tell Bradford how shit their new signing is, I was waiting for them to come and announce how shit Wearne is. And here we are, like clockwork.

Thing is, we are the worst team in the football league. It won’t take much for a player to improve us. And you’ve no idea what the fee is. It could be 50p for all you know. Don’t act like it’s some sort of heist of the century.
Wearne is slightly less shit in my opinion than Leigh so you’ve got a bargain compared to the Bradford lot.

The manager who was about to get sacked this season before you paid stupid money for him, and the manager who has made zero difference to your fortunes since arriving. Yes, the inspiring figure that is Mike Williamson.

Mate 200k isn't that much in football nowadays even in this league and there is not much he's been able to do here because of the disjointed shite he was left with, but he's made quite a few decent signings for us so far in this window and they will suit his style of football which will tear this league to shreds once it gets going and it will be very soon.

It’s incredibly annoying for us, we’ve played them twice and he was absolutely pivotal to two narrow defeats.
I can't really judge Walsall at all. They're clearly very consistent with a goal threat but we played our game in the 60 mph winds, there was very little quality on show from either team and Lowe was anonymous. Game was decided by a wind assisted goal.

Signed Zak Johnson on loan from Sunderland. Centre back and another recently on the League of Ireland. Makes sense with Macari and Ness out, needed a bit of cover there.

Losing Ness and Macari in the same game is proper bad luck. I’ve got used to competent defending now and I’m not sure what I’ll do if this guy’s another Jaden Warner - hopefully not though.

Young player on loan probably the right move though considering Macari will be back and McDonald has looked serviceable.

I really hope we sign a striker, not panicking yet but I thought we’d bring 3 in this window and we’ve already brought 3 in - 2 you could argue in positions we didn’t need

While I’m here, my hot take on Walsall is they won’t be as good without Lowe but still very good and with the gap they have, very good will be more than enough

Update - rumour that Jevani Brown has been sent back to Bristol Rovers so imagine a striker is definitely inbound - panic over

Makes sense, just hasn’t really worked. Clearly got ability but doesn’t seem to have the hunger to put in a proper shift when he gets the chance.

Carver, come on, when he was appointed you would have expected much more by middle of January. He was left with a shit tip, but he still should have done much better.

Just catching up on this after the forum went down over the weekend. In that time we’ve actually made a couple of signings in Jai Donacien on a permanent from Ipswich Town & Bim Pepple on loan from Luton.

Both have pro’s & con’s about them. Donacien’s pro’s are that he’s very highly regarded by Ipswich fans who rate him as a very strong 1 v 1 defender & versatile player that can cover all positions across the back line. He’s also won this league with Accrington, and 2 promotions at Ipswich too. The Con with him is his lack of games since his injury, but has apparently been ‘fit’ for a while now, so we will see how his body copes once the games start.

Pepple’s pro’s are that he’s coming with rave reviews from Southend fans who are gutted to lose him. From the bits I’ve seen of him in a Southend shirt, he looks a very powerful runner and seems like he can finish off both feet too. The negative being he had a stinking loan with Grimsby a couple of seasons back, all be it when he was very new to the country following a big move from Canada. Will judge with my own eyes on both and see what’s what, but they were two positions we needed to bolster with the injuries we have so I’m happy.

Well last season he took over a struggling MK Dons team with players who had made the L1 play offs not long before and he immediately made them better, but the players we had were either bought 2 years earlier on a L2 survival budget or were overpaid crocks and players who were not arsed.

Delayed response about Nicke Kabamba signing as I was enjoying our FA Cup weekend. Cost may look a little high and Barnet may not be worried about losing him, all I’d say is we’ve got good history and complete faith in Woody and his transfers / loans. He’s made many more good moves than bad ones.
Kabamba looked red not against us a couple of years ago. Surprised Barnet say he's gone off the boil, perhaps a step up will motivate him.

Whitaker signed as well, deal until the summer so basically an extended trial.

Promising Everton forward Charlie Whitaker has joined us on a free transfer.

The 21-year-old has signed a six-month contract to take his first steps away from Goodison Park, which has been his home since the age of 12. So that's the much needed forward people wanted with Scott and Brown departing.

So we've offered a 3.5 year contract and now a 0.5 year contract. Hmmmmm interesting, well you can't say we aren't versatile.

He still should have done better. Being 7 points adrift and all but mathematically relegated by January is completely unacceptable, whatever team you’ve been left with

Wasn't up to much when he was on loan here last season

Weird arrangement, Everton have said we’ve paid a fee which surely is wrong.

I wonder if there’s some sort of option in the contract for an extension. Feels like he might be the Charlie Colkett of this season.

Hypothetically with his age, say he smashes it and gets better offers in the summer, are we entitled to compensation? I feel like we would but it’d also be calculated as nothing as he’d only have been here 6 months

I mean you’ve answered your own post there…he inherited a team here who should have been minimum play-offs and he did what was expected. Nothing more, nothing less. Still underachieved overall as he failed to get us promoted which is frankly the aim for any manager whenever we are in L2 and followed it up by doing worse this season and reaching the verge of being sacked.

It’ll be free with a sell on clause I guess, so both sort of right.

Most logical explanation is that it’s a de facto loan. We’ve taken over the rest of his Everton contract, which will be a decent League Two wage and probably more than he’d get on a longer term deal without ever having played senior football. If he did amazingly and someone else came in for him then we’d get a tiny amount of compensation, but that is gonna be difficult with who we’ve got ahead of him in that position.

Everyone at the club was really rooting for Pepple here and it was a real shame it didn’t work. You could tell there was something there though, certainly from a physical perspective, he looked like a proper athlete. The issue was he just rarely looked like a footballer.

In the back of my mind though I had this feeling he had some potential, Luton don’t often get it as badly wrong as it appeared they had. He’s obviously done well at Southend and I’d be chuffed for him if he does well (aside from Saturday).

I've got a good feeling about Donacien, I think he'll be a good signing. Good age for a defender (presume he's brought in to play CB), impeccable credentials and great reports from any of his old teams.

He's a fantastic player and we will be weaker for him leaving (though I know that's not a universal opinion) but presumably this includes a fee for someone everyone agrees would be leaving at the end of the season. Hopefully means some funds for a striker

Funny one with Crowley isn’t it. He’s obviously a fantastic player on his day and we’re clearly weaker without him, but he’s very hard to love.

Yeah I think for a player of his talent I should be far sadder about him leaving. He’s just the ultimate mercenary type isnt he, you’re never even fooled into thinking he wouldn’t be off at the slight sniff of more money somewhere else

I am amazed we’re selling him to another L2 club but if the fee is good and he’s desperate to leave then so be it

MK must be paying well over the odds (considering he’s out of contract in the summer) for you guys to sell to a rival. Fair play

Yeah, we’ll never know but would be interesting to see what offers we got in the summer vs what we’re getting now. Either MK have just lost all perspective and given us something silly or we just feel more prepared to sell now we’ve got a few more attacking options than we did at the last deadline

I do have a weird sense of shrug about it all but it will be sad watching him score every week for that silly club - or he’ll just be surrounded by other players who don’t want to be defend and they’ll be just like us, that would be funny

We are adding to our aging squad with the evergreen Kyle McFadzean.
I am buzzing about this one. We’ve desperately missed that presence at the back since we lost Dunkley earlier in the season. Blackburn fans really rate McFadzean and I think he’ll do a good job for us for the remainder of the season.

Plus…. Naylor. Back. In. Midfield… at last!!

Whatever money we’re getting for him, it’s hard not to believe Crowley leaving doesn’t seriously damage our promotion chances.

I know he’s not a Macca or a Ruben type of personality but he’s a great player going to a team below us in the league. Bit of a kick in the knackers to be fair.

Maybe they’re still traumatised by that 4-1 dicking we dished out to them at their gaff at the end of last season.

What a day!
