Whatever money we’re getting for him, it’s hard not to believe Crowley leaving doesn’t seriously damage our promotion chances.

I know he’s not a Macca or a Ruben type of personality but he’s a great player going to a team below us in the league. Bit of a kick in the knackers to be fair.

Great player but from what I've seen, he plays for himself. He seems a bit of a luxury, where he's clearly got skill and ability but you're never quite sure what his best position is. He's also one of those who wants to take ownership of everything, wants to be getting the ball all the time, often to the detriment of the team. I'm not sure that Notts are going to miss him.

I'm not sure a move to MK Dons is going to be for footballing reasons either.

Football wise without doubt, no point kidding yourself that he doesn't bring something that nobody else in the squad does. Loads of pros, some obvious cons but without doubt he can produce something out of nothing to win or draw a game we didn't deserve to. We've seen it many times before.

Saying that if he's going to any League Two club that's where I want him to go because that's going to financially benefit us the most. The weird bros know what they are doing .

Always preferred Ruben anyway.

If Crowley goes to MK Dons he might start off well for them but then likely end up out of favour by the next window and another L2 will come in for him.

Seems to be a trend at MK right now of quality players going there and it not working out soon after.

Toxic club.

Maybe they’re still traumatised by that 4-1 dicking we dished out to them at their gaff at the end of last season.

What a day!

Does this new owner have money then?

Yup that must be it, nailed it Adam :eye:

Maybe Crowley loves complete stadiums or demands the club must have a hybrid pitch :dk:

Money, money, money.

Seems a strange move for Crowley that there's no saying they'll go up this season the position they are currently in I'd have thought he'd have been looking to move to League one great player though I really like him myself.

Yep. Estimates from Forbes reckon about £6-7Billion combined across the three primary board members. We’re only just getting started.

MONEYYYYY

Don’t really blame him, 28 this year and the dream of him realising his potential as a teenager are long gone. I think he’d struggle in the Championship because of how much of a luxury player type he is so highest bidder in L1/L2 seems reasonable on his part and I’d assume MK have the cash to compete with anyone across both levels (save for Birmingham)

£300k is the rumour btw, and if true, then I think we’d be silly to reject - just puts a lot more pressure on us to get promoted otherwise it’ll be a long summer of ‘should have kept Crowley’.

Crowley can run all day, has a fantastic engine and the talent to pick a pass and is a good finisher. Sounds great but there's a downside with him too. Very specific position to get the best out of him, prone to selfishness and can slow the game down, negating quick breaks.
Teams with powerful midfields can steamroller him off the ball.
He's 28 in August, effectively at his best now and for all his talent he's only really shone for one and a bit seasons and only at Notts. Nothing standout at Morecambe and Cheltenham both in L2 . Nor did he set Europe alight.
I'd rather we keep him but there's a few players in our first team I'd be more upset to lose.

Wouldn’t say toxic, just seems like the expectation we have is overwhelming for some of these signings. Leigh should have been great but barely scratched the surface other than for about 2 or 3 weeks, while Wearne looks a shadow of the attacker he was last season. 2 good sales by us judging by the start of the season, with an incoming we desperately needed in a Jay Williams type player, and finally getting Crowley over the line (it looks like) months after I heard he wanted to come here, though that admittedly was under a different manager.

If it is remotely toxic you’re adding the worst personality possible into the building haha, he’ll be cupping his ears at the home fans and waving his arms around within 20 minutes

He did cup his ear in response to some people booing one of our own young loan players which I thought was fair enough.

If it is anywhere near 300 grand bit of a no brainer.

Sounds great, with Jay Williams our other signing also apparently a smash up the dressing room ‘personality’ at Crawley.

We’ll take that so long as he’s not a shit player. Forgot to mention, we have had enough of those (see Leigh and Wearne).

I don’t know whether you’re basing that solely on the game against you, but he definitely does have a habit of going looking for the ball and trying to do everything himself when we’re chasing a game.

We’re certainly a much better team with him in it though, as recent results and performances have shown. Obviously going there for the money, but I don’t doubt he’ll make them a much better team as well.

We’re apparently(!) losing Joe White back to Newcastle so may explain why we have this #dondeal to soften that blow of one of our best players possibly being recalled.

With you in this one. If we don't have an adequate replacement lined up I'd say that basically knackers any promotion push now. On his day the best at this level

I suspect we signed his replacement last week in that Jarvis.

Maybe blind optimism, but I’m not sure it affects our chances that much (I’m not that confident either way, but that’s a different discussion). I don’t disagree with the last bit either, but it’s basically unarguable now that his day is always (insert random lower mid-table team) at home. It makes us far less likely to keep winning those games 4-0, but gives us a different option for trying to solve the problem of losing every time we come up against someone good.

A big ask for them to all settle quickly, hit the ground running and save us though. As much as I’d love them to.
Yep this is it for me. That and the fact that (happy to be corrected on this if I'm incorrect) that you're persisting with tippy tapping the ball around.

The obvious equation is...

Loads of signings in Jan + playing out from the back + relegation scrap = disaster

The likes of Embleton, Wearne, etc. aren't players that you want in the trenches when you're up against it. The best thing we did last Jan when we were trying to pass our way out of a dogfight was bring Curtis Thompson in, switch style and just start grinding out ugly points. I fear for Carlisle if they think they don't need to do this.

I could be wrong and it could all click and you'll be fine and I hope that's the case as I like Carlise but from the outside looking in, this wild spending spree looks like an obscenely risky strategy.

Think Crowley could well flop at MK. There's a reason he's not lasted long anywhere until Notts, partly it's his agent constantly being after more money, but there's also the fact that until Notts he never seemed to have any end product.

He looked the shit when he played for us for a couple of months in League 1, until he then had to finish off that mazy run with a pass or shot, then he'd completely balls it up. I fear that at Notts his playing was akin to catching lightning in a bottle - sometimes things just fit. Moving, and therefore changing his surroundings, could well mess him up completely.

Nathan Broom a goalkeeper from Swansea (Ex AFC Wimbledon) signs until the end of the season... seems an off one with Ripley and Amos at the club unless Ripper is off or one is injured. Ripley is on Paternity but set to only miss this weekends game so could be Amos injured?

Note the announcement suggests Ripley will need a few weeks after paternity to get match day ready so hopefully all is good with Connor and his family.
